No Eng tonight.. He's traveling. But that's what allows the added Haskin goodness from 5-5:30!

I would perfer listening to JJ talking about those "hard knocking 8 claimers" lol..That is when the ratings must go thru the roof.

Do your guests get an appearance fee?

I would be worried if I hadnt lost my next three months re-up to ur good pal Jim Rome. I check-raised him when I made broadway on the river only to find out his boat filled up.

That made me laugh.. The 8 claimers.. "Calder horses.. they're the toughest.."

No appearance fees Fred.. Not even for me... Only when the ad revenues produce a positive. Those that contribute their valuable time though are appreciated immensely, as we all try to pull in the same direction to make this go long term.

No wonder why DrugS has been so pissy...No free toaster.

Maybe I will co sponsor a spot with DRF for the company store? Then maybe you can award stipands with the 5k I help generate. lol

Please ask about the great Nobiz Like Shobiz, which Haskin claims in like no American turf horse we have seen in a long time. LOL

How much did Three Chimneys pay him to write that. ;)

If I think of how I can be nice about it I will. It is one thing to bs on a board but the show is a little bit more professional and while boards are made for bs, I would never insult somebody on a phone.

His comment was ridiculous though and I know he would figure out some bs around answering the question.

Thankfully we will all see how ridiculous it was in a week when American hosres like Kip Deville and Hough's horse finish well ahead of Nobiz.

Maybe Nobiz can be the next great polytrack horse.

You can say with such certainty that Trippi's Storm and Kip Deville will finish ahead of Nobiz in the Mile?

Clearly you think more of them than I do.

whatever, it seems to me that NoBiz continues to exceed expectations on the turf. i'm amazed at how strong peoples opinion get on minor issues that really don't require a strong opinion. three months ago you would have boldly stated that anybody thinking that NoBiz would win three consecutive stakes on the turf would need their heads examined. yet I believe that is what he has done. Is he the best in the US? I don't know, maybe not, but he hasn't raced against the best yet. sometimes its okay just to give differing opinions and leave out the claims of BS and insults, claiming people are ridiculous, etc.
you leave yourself open to looking like a complete buffoon should NoBiz step up again.

No, just little of Nobiz. Those horses have run fast before and beaten some good horses. Especially Kip Deville. Nobiz has beaten nothing and he is clearly not an 8f horse which KD and Trippi's Storm look perfectly suited for.

No, the buffoons were the ones who hyped him on the dirt. The horse is not fast. Maybe he is of the caliber of Albert the Great. A solid horse but clearly not deserving of the hype he gets. Saying he showed a turn of foot like no other American turf horse in years is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous and an insult to some very nice turf horses. I can think of a horse like Crossing the Line this year that has a way quicker turn of foot, but I guess his sire doesn't spend a lot of money advertising on the bloodhorse. ;)

Cannon Shell 10-18-2007 04:33 PM

According to TG #'s No Biz ran the co fastest race (with Cosmonaught) in his last.

Crossing The Line was bred in New Zealand.

if No Biz is not fast, is he then slow? how does a horse that is not fast win as many races as NoBiz does? talk about ridiculous buffoonish statements.

golfer 10-18-2007 04:37 PM

No Biz has run 8 nicely spaced races this year, while improving incrementally with each start on the turf. And his most recent puts him right there with the top horses in the field. If he runs, I'm certainly going to consider him.

Pretty amazing number, what is interesting is that it is still two points off his previous dirt top so he could still be improving on the lawn. Kip Deville looks good also. A really hard race TG wise

Um, Crossing the Line is not an American horse.

Tops on the turf rarely are as high as on the turf. The fact that he is a 3 year old and more prone to improve makes him a player though I still think 1 mile is a little short for him. The fact is that this is an awful group of American milers and a second rate group of Euros too.

Cannon Shell 10-18-2007 04:51 PM

I'm sure that Three Chimneys sent a few thugs to Haskins house to twist his arm a little to promote their worst stallion.

if I recall I think the highest turf top I have seen is around a -2, but I could be wrong. The Mile is a very competitive race and hard to separate about 8 of them, will come down to trip, as always.

outside posts wont be good...

ArlJim78 10-18-2007 05:05 PM

Since his return from after the derby break, the truth is all of NoBiz' races have been good. even his dirt race in the Dwyer when he only lost to Any Given Saturdays very quick time.

The difference you can see in his pace figures is in how he runs his races.
leading up to the derby he was running fast to the first and second call, and not very strong late.

Now he is running evenly early and finishing strong, which gives him a better overall result imo. I think they got him straightened around during the break and I think that if he did try a dirt race now it might be much better than you think.

I'm not saying he's a superstar or anything like that, but he's sort of the forgotten 3yo and maybe not that far behind the leaders.

golfer 10-18-2007 06:14 PM

Trippi's Storm

Steve mentioned Trippi's Storm at the end of the show as a possible sleeper... Now I am one of this horses' biggest fans, but I just don't like his chances. He's had a long, tough, though remarkably consistent campaign, running his top (a TG 2 and change) five consecutive times. In my opinion, this, along with the relatively quick turnaround from his last race, makes it highly unlikely he will move forward, and even if he can manage another 2, that number shouldn't be good enough in this race. 14 of the other 17 horses have run as fast or faster this year. So I doubt very much that my money will be going in his direction (and I am sorry to say this, because I really like the horse).
I do realize that taking a stand against a likely 20-1 plus horse is no amazing feat, but just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.
