He hammered it, no doubt. Meanwhile...in Cleveland...MR. CLUTCH is 0 fer 7:D :D Dont get me wrong...his regular season numbers were ABSURD this year. But come the first of Oct...all those numbers go flying out the window. |
You gotta know that Beckett's complete game on Wed. night was the biggest reason that the pen was able to completely stifle the Angels last night after Dice K got yanked early. Huge effort last night from the bullpen.

Same as the Cubs dualing Mr A's...Alphonso and Aramis(sp?)..They are giving A-Rod a run for his money for Oct chokes. This ChiSox fan is loving it |
A-Rod has not been good, but neither has the rest of the team. They are batting about .122 for the series. I do not think Captain America has been on base yet. A-Rod will take the brunt of it, but the bottom line is how can you blame one guy when the whole team gets 3 hits in an eleven inning game.
It was also nice to see someone finally stick it up K-Rod's ass, not thrilled that it was Manny and the Sox. But kind of nice anyway. |

Good srticle in Fridays L.A. Times(if anyone can access it) He works with hand/eye coordination every day in prep for the game. His teammates just shake their heads. His public personna belies his hard work...but he'll still make the Hall easy!:) |
Being a Sox fan he can drive me nuts with his Manny being Manny, but he is clutch. I was pissed that he wasn't in the lineup for most of the end of the pennant race, but in the long run it was the right thing to do. He's the man.

too bad he doesn't put more time into his iron glove... |

Ain't my Cubs.I just put that up for SCAVS,BECAUSE HE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT to do with the Cubs insignia he carved out of his hair. It's a doggystyle affirmation.I don't think he picked that idea.

Good ol Manny...brings tears to my eyes. Part of the incredible run by the Indians farm system, in the late 80s/early 90s when in a 5 year period they ran out Albert Belle, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez and Brian Giles. 4 guys with over 1600 combined career homers. Something like that from within one system in such a short time will never happen again, and I don't know if it has ever happened before.

He has had an amazing run and has always been a great run producer is a surefire HOF. |
None of those guys ever got in 165 runs.
He has played just about half his time in Cleveland so that tosses the Fenway thing...his best years were here, too ...he does stink in the field and on the bases, but is a natural born hitter. I would think he certainly is in the same class with the first 3....but that's just a predator speaking. |

I guess I am being too harsh on ol' Manny. You guys are probably right.

Which is also why Rameriz is a top 3 guy. He also should be very close to Gehrigs 23 grand slam record.....but not a big deal. |

I'm so sorry...did not see this. THUD! |

Think Dylan Thomas here. |
If I had to rank the top 10 hitters in baseball as of right now, I think I would have to go with this;
1. David Ortiz 2. Albert Pujols 3. Alex Rodriguez 4. Manny Ramirez 5. Vladimir Guerrero 6. Ryan Howard 7. Matt Holliday 8. Magglio Ordóñez 9. Chase Utley 10. Todd Helton or Ichiro Suzuki Again, just in my opinion...however, you could swap 3-20 on most lists and probably have a valid arguement for each... |

You mean Mr. August? |
Quote:
1. Alex Rodriguez 2. Albert Pujols 3. David Ortiz 4. Matt Holliday (Coors Field isn't quite so hitter friendly as it was) 5. Ichiro 6. Hanley Ramirez 7. David Wright 8. Carlos Lee 9. Magglio Ordonez 10. Vladimir Guerrero 11. Miguel Cabrera (just cause I didn't feel right leaving his fatass off) |

Manny has been hurt all year Chuck and has actually improved his fielding in Boston playing a quirky left field at home that is harder than it looks at first blush. I'll give you his production way down this year but he has produced for much longer than many on your list. Manny has protected Ortiz in that line up since he got to Boston and has pretty much done what was asked of him sometimes sacrificing numbers for the team that Boston has become. Very Very Streaky hitter who may yet have another World Series MVP to go with his 2004 one. Believe me the worst thing Cleveland saw in the division playoffs was that Manny seemed to be swinging pain free... And how can you not like a guy who hates to speak in public but still gives the hilarious honest interview he gave Friday night which pretty much solidified his place in the all sound bite hall of fame. So leave my Manny alone or we'll have to take your prize money for Mixteca at Keeneland. :D |
He's being paid not to endorse The Witch.

Morty most of the time I am able to follow what your talking about as the smartest and wittiest kid in the class who just happens to be the class clown as well.....but what the hell does that mean!!! |
Quote:
ror!! Oh I admit it...I'm an imbecile. But what I meant was Hillary Clitton's campaign manager is paying Manny not to endorse her. Not so funny or witty I guess. |

Over the last 5 years; ARod - .300 avg, 28 2B, 2 3B, 44 HR, 126 RBI, .401 OBP Ortiz - .302 avg, 41 2B, 2 3B, 44 HR, 128 RBI, .401 OBP Pujols- .336 avg, 42 2B, 1 3B, 42 HR, 121 RBI, .429 OBP Based on that, I have no problem with Pujols being #1. I would still say ARod is #3, easily. |
Golly...no love for Jhonny Peralta?
