Hemingway's Key = I remember seeing him at Tampa Bay Downs a few months back. Maybe we will see him at Beulah or River Downs next

Ouch!

Forgot to add We Can Seek....

Spanish Chestnut continues to get stomped every month or two in stakes races. He must really look terrible working on the turf, because you'd think they'd try him as a turf miler by now with that pedigree.

brianwspencer 10-04-2007 01:52 PM

Formblog over at DRF has Dan Illman saying this:

I'm fairly certain that...Scrappy T [was] retired after [an] aborted comeback. Spanish Chestnut hasn't worked since last year, and has probably been retired.

Linny 10-04-2007 02:34 PM

Scrappy T was not retired. He injured a gluteal muscle working 34 flat in his first work under a tiny exercise rider. Scrappy is a very tough handful of 17.2 hands!
He's been at a rehab/training facility in KY. but has not been officially retired.

Hey! Neat trick.. You're on television RIGHT NOW!

cakes44 10-04-2007 03:03 PM

17.2 hands? That can't be true.

Linny 10-04-2007 08:15 PM

I saw him at AQU for the Wood Memorial, stood right next to him. He was a solid 17hh then as a very early 3yo. I'm 5'8 and couldn't see over him.
I was told that by late last year he was over 17.1 and I believe the person who told me.

Steve, you know I have all kinds of "powers!"

Supposed to be returning soon to the races, if he runs another clunker...straight to the breeding shed.

my miss storm cat 12-30-2007 12:23 AM

I got hurt in a race. For some reason I think it was at SAR. I remember parking my car near the racing museum and realizing I was behind Neil Howard who was talking on the phone about a horse who had come back off. I'm pretty sure it was the yearling sale I was going to, meaning it must have been a Spa race.

I think it was the Fourstardave early in the meet.

Did he turn out to be correct? I know that Street Sense ran some big '07 figures, but did any of them match his BC number?

He's outside waiting for the sky to fall.

Thanks. I just saw where Bai and Bai is running in the Foster City this weekend. I rememeber BB and Serria Sweetie bumping heads a few times earlier in their careers.

Pedigree Query has SS listed as having 4 wins and 3 seconds from 7 starts.
