UPDATE: Claimer spotted; Chuck at KEE..

Sent this out to Dee Tee partners.. Those that did not receive should Email me at tpkasept@yahoo.com with the subject "Email add".. And potential new partners have at least three opportunities to jump aboard!

This should be a very fun and important week for Dee Tee as several things are afoot at once...

"07-02": Claimer catches our eye.. 3yo colt..

There is a horse available for claim Wednesday that may be a very nice opportunity for us... I don't want to get into too much detail except to say that this is a 3yo colt that cost several hundred thousand and is up for a reasonable tag. He appears healthy based on his workout and race pattern, comes from a prominent barn, and is sure to have been well taken care of...

So why is he for sale? The connections have clearly decided that this horse will NOT be what they were hoping for when they bought him... a graded stakes horse. But he has upside for a group like ours as his pattern of development is forward moving and VERY healthy, and we can afford to be patient with him. He is nicely bred and may want a different distance than what he's been asked to do recently.

We have about $24,000 on hand for the '07-02', which is close to our original acquisition target of $30,000 with a number of partners still sending in their money... To get this horse, we would need an additional $12,000-$15,000 (20-30 more 'shares') with taxes and the 10-15% expense buffer built in. (Chuck may go ahead and claim this horse tomorrow and make up the shortfall himself for now..) More info as we find out what we can today about this interesting prospect, but if you have friends that want to jump aboard Dee Tee, this would be a good time...

"07-03": KEE Sales open, prices down, our prospects up!

In the meantime, Chuck is getting ready to swing into action at the KEE Sales with Day One's numbers down and the prospects for a bargain excellent looking ahead to next week. We are interested in spending $55,000-$60,000 which could yield as many as 2, even 3, yearlings. Chuck is determined to acquire at least one VERY NICE yearling in the $50,000 range and one 'project' yearling for $10,000 or less.

I will be sending out the 07-03 Prospectus/Agreements this week. We are looking to raise about $75,000 for the 07-03 package, and note that there is no limit to share quantities. Shares are $1,500 each, and we have early commitments from 3 partners of about $15,000 each to help get things started. Please let me know as soon as possible how much of the 07-03 you might be interested in to help give Chuck a handle on where we will be on a bankroll. It could turn out that we can raise $100,000, which would give Chuck a lot of flexibility in the auction. (Please Email me at tpkasept@yahoo.com with "07-03" or "KEE" as the subject line...)

We will be providing a list of Hip #'s that Chuck may bid on so that you can follow the action LIVE! on the Keeneland Sales feed!

"07-04": Chuck to check out Vicar filly at Hill 'n' Dale Friday..

Chuck will visit the Vicar-Riviera Mill filly most likely on Friday so we can get a decision on whether she is worth buying... We have commitments for about 90% of the $25,000 it would take to buy and maintain this miss until her racing days begin...

"07-05": New York Bred concept gets warm reception..

As anticipated, the news of a NY-bred for Dee Tee has been met with a warm reception. Gary Sciacca will return from Keeneland Friday, and we will start to scout for a private purchase or claim. Target for the NYB is $35,000-$40,000, and inquiries should be sent to me with "NYB" or "07-05" as the subject for copies of the Prospectus/Agreement....

More as we know it, but things couldn't be more exciting for all of us right now!

Best,

Claimer

Steve and Chuck:

Good luck with the potential claim. I have been able to identify the horse in question from Steve's description and hope that he is in good health given his claiming price vs. purchase price of a year ago.

Looking forward to the news !

How long until we know how the shake turned out? That was impressive.

sumitas 09-12-2007 04:03 PM

I didn't see whatever race you were referring to. Can you give us some more color ?

BPLichorowiec 09-12-2007 04:03 PM

He did look good assuming we watched the same race. Under pressure most of the race and still looked good at the end.

pmacdaddy 09-12-2007 04:11 PM

Agree. Looked great.

Here's to hoping...

SniperSB23 09-12-2007 04:14 PM

Nothing in the chart about any horses being claimed, not sure if it hasn't been updated yet or if Chuck saw something he didn't like.

We could not get the arrangements made (wire transfer to AP account; local horseman to handle, etc..) to get the claim in...

They'll be another.. More "right".. The fact that no one went after him is a bit of a caution as it turns out..

Chuck didn't get some info back he was waiting on either, and after taxes and paying a local horseman for their help, it would be about $35,000-$36,000 and our budget is closer to $25,000 for this runner.. With all we have going right now, it will pay to stick to 'the plan'..

Hope folks aren't disappointed..

pointman 09-12-2007 06:20 PM

rather have the right one than one quickly. may be a blessing in disguise, if it looks too good to be true, it may very well be. It is interesting that no one else dropped in the box. Not to worry, Steve and Chuck know what they are doing.

Heels1989 09-12-2007 06:26 PM

Certainly a bit disappointed, but that's OK. This one just wasn't meant to be. :)
Greatly appreciate the due diligence, as the "right" one maybe just around the corner. Steve and Chuck thanks for your efforts and updates.

At least my $20 to Win covered my bar bill :)

Still was exciting.... Got a little geared up when he won, but as Pointman said, may work out for the best this way...

unfortunately, someone engaged me in a conversation shortly before the race and I did not get my bet in, glad you covered your bar bill at least!

me 2....

told tony we might claim, which brought a few questions. at least he seems interested...

Hickory Hill Hoff 09-12-2007 07:44 PM

Used said horse in triples & supers...did not cash. But did very well today in the Belmont 1st w/ the exacta & triple!

sumitas 09-12-2007 08:08 PM

As Michael Tabor was quoted as saying on the Green Monkey thread in the Paddock...and I think it may apply to this potential claim...

yeah, i liked that quote--drive yourself crackers. might have to put that into use...

AeWingnut 09-13-2007 06:01 AM

When they are dropping - let 'em keep going. More times than not they will drop more and more.
