The Bears WILL NOT get blown out. They have the speed to counteract LT. I full expect the Bears to win that game, or at least keep it within 3-4 points

onebadbeast 09-06-2007 12:23 AM

3 Teamer
Chiefs
Dolphins
Ravens

KY_Sasquash 09-07-2007 06:05 PM

3 team parlay:

Steelers, Seahawks, Broncos.

IrishofNDMan 09-07-2007 06:13 PM

I'll take the Chargers -6 all day, I actually think that might be one of the best plays in the NFL this week.

It all depends on who shows up: Good Rex or Bad Rex.

You tell me what you are comfortable with and we can figure out the details.

I'll take the Bears +6

This Bears team is a team that is as confident as possible. We lost nobody from last year. Good Rex will be available tomorrow.

Scav 09-07-2007 06:53 PM

I'll also book some Notre Dame action for ya if you want.

Might not be worth your time, but I'm just a college student so how about $30 or somewhere around there? Just let me know.

How about this? If we ever meet, you can buy me a beer.

Keep your $30 for college instead of sending it to me.

IrishofNDMan 09-07-2007 06:58 PM

Yeah, I'd feel bad taking your money too. So I'll just take a beer and my pride when I tell ya, "told you so".

good rex is your only hope, because the bears traded their best RB. benson can't carry the load all year.

OK..I'm wading in...

Scav...name your wager...How about $100?

Does this mean this site will go the way of BODOG?

dalakhani 09-09-2007 09:17 AM

Im with Scav on this one. Why are the bears suddenly so bad? SD is the team with the new coach...a coach that has proven that he isnt very good.

Defense is what carries the day. This will be a tight game. 6 points too much.

gimme da bears!

Hickory Hill Hoff 09-09-2007 09:54 AM

BRONCOS -3
STEELERS -4.5
SEAHAWKS -6 (best bet)

kenny p 09-09-2007 10:16 AM

One game today. New England -6.5 550 to win 500.

Hope you didn't, recently I have been able to rely on the Bears to put me in a good mood but this just takes the cake. And honestly, I don't blame Rex about today. I blame the offensive coordinator for calling probably the worst game of all time. 4th and long 2 we decide to run the f'n ball. 3rd and 10 we decide to run (granted we got the 1st). Our defensive looked f'n amazing today, just got tired. It also looks like someone got into Hester's ear with all these f'n fair catchs. I agree with every one of them but two.....

You have Rexitis. A rare affliction that seems to only affect Bear's fans who actually believe that Rex Grossman is "not that bad". Sometimes accompanied by fever but usually brought out by the addition of alcohol to the system. Potentially fatal.

I wouldn't blame the OC for the calls. If they thought they could get it done passing, they would have passed. If you bet SD, you got a bit lucky though they were the better team. Bears D looked great, especially Harris. But if Brown is hurt bad, .... Bottom line is Grossman is not going to win games. But guys like Brad Johnson, Dolfer and Rypien were probably no better than Grossman and they all won Super Bowls.

Don’t believe what you see on Internet message boards and maybe even in the Chicago papers: Grossman looked pretty good against the Chargers when he actually had time to throw. Protection was a big problem (OL was downright horrible), but when he had time to step into his throws he made some nice ones, particularly to WR Bernard Berrian, who looked great. So with Grossman you have a choice: You can believe in the Bear organization and about 95% of the scouts and former players who analyze him on the coach’s tape and like what he can do, or the fans, many of them in sales and construction, who watch him on TV and complain. There won’t be a harder matchup or situation for him than this one for the rest of the 2007 season. There may not be a harder one for him in 2008, either.

On the other hand, you can ask yourself, who else is there? Griese? The Dolphins cut him loose in favor of Jay Fiedler and he couldn't beat out Chris Simms in Tampa. Neither of those guys is very good. No doubt the scouts and coaches think he's the best QB they have but that's not saying much. They should look good next week. We'll see how Rex looks when they play GB, Detroit and Philly on the road over four weeks. Rex won't kill you against half the teams the Bears play but he's not going to make plays against good teams. He's not good enough to do so.

They are going to run him out of town. I wouldn't be surprised to see Orton starting next year.

Funny thing is, Grossman may be the best free agent-to be QB in 2008. There's him, Romo (who will certainly get resigned by DAL), Sorgi and Josh McCown. There's not much out there.

Though stats are not as exacting in determining the ability of football players as other sports, QB is one that is.

Where do we start.
Basic passer rating -2006 season Grossman ranked 29th

Interceptions - 3rd (thats 3rd from last by the way)

Too simple?
Ok we will use some of the stats that the GM use in evaluating players

DPAR score - That is Defense Adjusted Points against Replacement. This number represents the total # of points scored due to plays where the QB passed or carried the ball compared to a replacement level QB in the same situation.
Grossmans DPAR rating? 4.1 which was good for 31st in the league for QB's who threw more than 100 passes.

Or we can go to DVOA- Which is Defense Adjusted Value over Average. This number represents value, per play, over an average QB in the same game situations. The more positive the DVOA the better the players performance.
Rexy's DVOA rating? -11.2% which ranks him 33rd in the NFL for QB's that attempted more than 100 passes.

Of course you can throw the stats out and just watch him play. You dont have to be a scout or ex-player to see him throwing off the wrong foot, the horrible decision making, the fumbling, etc. He is not the worst QB in the league but he is a lot closer to the bottom than the top.

I think STS says it best. He may suck but who else is there?.
