9/3: Saratoga (Day 36-C/O)

A valuable lesson about Saratoga, and horseplaying in general, came Sunday... On the penultimate day of the meet, after largely mediocre results for 34 days, discovering Mission Approved ($70.00; $173.00 Exacta; $1,448.00 Tri) in the Saranac guarantees a profitable meet. If things are not going as well as you would like, you simply have to keep plugging. Continue doing what you always do, as the horses will 'run your way' and get you whole if you remain confident about your approach.

Hope you did well yesterday, and did well during Saratoga. It's been a great 6 weeks... $100,000+ carryover that MUST be distributed today...

Steve,
Just curious as to why on your pick 6 play you singled the 3 in the 8th yet in the pick 4 play you chose to go 2 deep & single the 9th?

northeastbound123 09-03-2007 07:17 AM

any thoughts on the PA derby?

Martin 09-03-2007 07:37 AM

Incredible P-3

Steve,

Thanks for the Mission Aproved pick. I singled Irish Smoke and Crusader to hit a 1,262.00 P-3. A P-3 with 2 favorites and it pays this only Bykster can cap these payouts. Great work Steve

Alright **** it. Race 5, the first leg of the pick six has a very interesting horse. The #1 Big Brown has a very VERY solid work 3 back, 59.3 on the TURF. It really looks like that was the work to see what he had and then these last two were maintenance works. Prado was aboard for Reynolds until yesterday. Probably helped the value a little bit. I won't be able to play him straight but I will be playing him in the pick six. Proceed in tossing the horse now :)

"won't be able to play him straight but I will be playing him in the pick six."
Why can't you play him straight? Seems to me you have a better shot at making money on a horse you think has a good chance than on hitting SIX horses in a row!! Sorry, but that is stupid logic IMO.

it is stupid logic but I want to play the pick six and i have limited funds. The $108 I do have to spend with two solid singles and 100k in the kitty. The $108 I have to win on him gets me back 750 or 800. Not enough

Nada. Was running around all day looking at tile, tubs and toilets... Fortunately for me, I didn't get to play too much.

You go out with a bang?

I wish......Well, it's time to get ready for the Belmont Fall meet. How much interest have you seen in the handicapping contest?

stupid logic - I can pick SIX winners better than I can pick ONE winner!!
How did you do??? Pittsburgh Phil was the greatest handicapper that ever lived!!!!!! He made his money betting ONE HORSE AT A TIME!!!! NOT SIX IN A ROW!!!!!!!!! You people that think the money is in these gimmick bets (ie pick three, pick four, pick six, etc) you are gonna lose a helluva lot more than you are gonna win !!!! gimme a 12-1 that i've been waiting tro run because somethng happened to him in the race, and if that didn't happen, he had a great chance to win, and I'll throw that "108" to win on that horse to win, and I gaurantee you, I have a much greater chance to show a big profit than you ever will!!!!!

p.s. that $100 turns into $1500 plus on the 1 horse in that race!!! how much you get back on your $108 pick six bet???? I rest my case!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s.s take your T>G> numbers and shove them, right along with your Beyers!!!!! You keep playing them, and you will lose your ass. Learn to handicap on your own, (watch races, see who was ready to run , but had problems in the race, and next time they have a big chance because of the trouble they had in this race) You"ll be suprised at how many horses you come up with that pay between 25.00 and 40.00!!!!

That's wy you are a loser!! Big Deal! You got lucky (or so you say) you hit a pick 6 a while back. How much you got left??? From what I see the way you bet , you are SOL!!! Learn to handicap, because from what I see, the TG"s aren't doing you ANY GOOD!!! And that proves to me you don't know SHEET about handicapping horses!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, what is your problem? Did Scavs kick your dog or take your lollipop?

Guy took a shot at a mandatory payout and you pop off with "loser" and "don't know SHEET about handicapping" plus other gems from your longer redboard post.

I'll brush it off as a Labor Day bender and give you another shot when you're sober, but I can't comprehend the venom towards Scavs on this.

Props to Scavs for not getting sucked into an argument with this troll.

Kasept 09-04-2007 04:37 AM

Peetsa has a 72 hour benching to decide whether he can interact on this Forum like a human being. No one needs to converse with fellows DTers like this. I won't tolerate it. If you want to exchange ideas or even criticize others' wagering approach, it can, and will be, done with civility.

And the Pittsburgh Phil reference is laughable. Of course he bet horses 'one at a time'.. There was no other way to bet them when he operated. If Pittsburgh Phil was around today, he'd be playing exotics and multi-races. Guys like Beyer, Brown and Crist that bridge the gap between straight betting and the modern wagering menu era, ALL embraced the exotic/multi bet(s) as they were introduced.
