I think so too.

It's odd though, usually by this time I'm head over heels in love with a two year old by now but it seems like all the best babies raced during the week when I was still at work. :D

I think the Stakes races were much more enjoyable this year than last. While Bernardini was a treat, his races didn't offer much 'thrill' to me since I like a good battle. The Whitney always delivers though.

All in all a good (and at times very interesting) season. Beautiful weather forcasted for the weekend and if the cards are this good on Sunday & Monday the meet will go out on a very high note.

still hope-

Late Thursday morning, Penna said that a blacksmith was designing a special shoe for Chatain to wear in the $250,000 Forego so that he doesn't pound his heel. If Chatain were to gallop comfortably over the track with the shoe on Friday morning, then he would run in the Forego.

The Woodward is a very nice and evenly matched race. One has to wonder if Lawyer Ron is able to run like he did in his last race. Who knows which Corinthian shows up. I am excited about this race.

I love the Attila's Storm- Lawyer Ron double if it is offered. After the free $5.80 Street Sense-La Traviata double last weekend I will gladly take another easy chalk double.

Sightseek 08-30-2007 09:30 PM

I always end up using the "Awesome" horses (Awesome Twist & Awesome Gem) on both costs because they always seem to close into the exacta or tri.

Hickory Hill Hoff 08-30-2007 09:52 PM

Super card...last chance to make some $$$

You've got to love a Grade I where you can make a legitimate case for any of the 8 horses winning. That Woodward field is a stellar one, if not in ability than at least in accomplishments, especially in this day and age.

I watched the replay. Very nice.

hockey2315 08-31-2007 03:21 PM

Could someone post a link to where it says Chatain is out of the Forego please? Thanks. . .

Danzig 08-31-2007 04:08 PM

chatain has a bruised hoof, but was getting a special shoe in hopes he could run comfortably. he was supposed to gallop this morning, and then they'd make a decision. haven't heard anything since.

that's what I thought. . . Thanks

Sightseek 08-31-2007 10:27 PM

Anyone hear if Chatain is out for certain? I think I have been staring at the Forego PP's forever...

Linny 08-31-2007 10:57 PM

Penna was supposed to tape an interview on OTB-TV with Mark Cusano, about Chatain. He cancelled because the horse was not going to run. At this point, it seems very unlikely that Chatain will go.

Thanks. That is too bad, he has shown a lot of promise and it's too bad they can't keep him together.

Steve,

Hopefully the track won't play the same way it did yesterday. I guess we will find out after the first few races. I am not sold on Lawyer Ron just yet.

I think his willingness to rate now is going to make him a very solid horse for the rest of the year and particularly in this race.

His rankness is always what seemed to do him in and it looks like Pletcher has done a great job in curing that. Plus he looked outstanding in the a.m.

If the track stays the same as yesterday, Wanderin Boy probably wins.

All the sheet players had Lawyer Ron Bouncing like a super ball today. He looked like he's still interested in winning. Looks like L.R. moved to the head of the older horses division.
