Is that good or bad? Seems like Skippy O doesn't mind the heat.

Terrible, terrible tragedy, I'm so sorry. What was your horses' name?

I hope at least the jockey is okay. Keep us posted?

northeastbound123 08-08-2007 10:23 PM

Riot 08-08-2007 10:35 PM

North East Dream .... I'll remember that name. So very sad.

Hope you hear about the jock soon.

It is 10:30pm here in Baton Rouge, and it is still 87degrees!! I walked outside the office at 9pm tonight and it took my breath. The air is so heavy its hard to breath in. People dont understand the difference in the humidity down here. A friend lives in Tacoma and was always kidding me because of my "Damn its hot, you just dont understand" comments, then she decided to bring her family to Disney in August last year!! She asked me "How the hell do you people live down there????".hehe I have a 24yr old gelding and I go out and hose him off twice a day while he is in the paddock just to keep him cool. All the fans do is microwave him, the air is so hot.

FGFan 08-09-2007 06:39 PM

I'm very sorry for your loss and I hope the jock will be OK.
What a shame.
They really should have cancelled racing with the heat and humidity.
It's just oppressive down here.

i started for work at 3:50 am, it's already miserable at that time of day. wonder how long this heat wave will last. heat index 110 today. southeast arkansas, so i can relate to the humidity you're suffering with.

north east, very sorry to hear that you've lost your horse.

ddthetide 08-09-2007 08:56 PM

sorry for your loss, hope your jockey is ok.

tuesday and wednesday it was 102* here and they pulled our lineman off the street by 1pm.

citycat 08-09-2007 10:01 PM

Truly sorry for your loss also. Just curious though, the track vet told me today that the horse broke her leg and not a heat stroke???

Joe is doin ok, they did a CAT scan and he just got shook up really bad.
