fourth for sumwon

but no doubt still first in our hearts!!

MaTH716 08-05-2007 12:07 PM

She ran hard. Didn't get the easy lead that I thought she would get. The winner ran a huge race, 3 wide the whole way and dug in , in the stretch.

Coach Pants 08-05-2007 12:09 PM

Hope she's alright. Didn't look good down the stretch.

yeah Bridge. was shaking her up mid-turn, i thought we had a shot to get away. I think the distance got to her 47:4 second quarter, would have been nice to see it a little slower.

We'll get there!!!!

i hope so too of course. just have to wait to hear from chuck later. maybe just too long for her?

MaTH716 08-05-2007 12:17 PM

The middle of the track has been the place to be. Maybe she caught a dead rail.

Storm Cadet 08-05-2007 12:22 PM

Keep her at a mile...

Many Others 08-05-2007 12:22 PM

Never got to see the post parade on tvg but Sumwon really seemed on her toes and wasn't really loving the gate (???) - they opened the front and then kinda had a wrestling match - just not her usual self, but hafta admit she broke really well. Will wait to hear the others live paddock reports, but hoping she was just over the top from all the activities and ran outta gas - her tail was really swishing and glad Calvin kinda wrapped up on her a little to save it for another day - win or lose, she's still our #1 gal...

onebadbeast 08-05-2007 12:27 PM

I Just Think She Would Go Better At 6 F. Borel, Ride At Least One Race Where You Dont Go To The Rail, Would You?

Thanks for the fun of watching a race knowing some of the connections....

(and I'm glad my California OTB isn't taking Saratoga wagers until the 3rd race!)

I've only watched the race once, but she looked like she never had a chance to relax enough to go the full distance today. First time I've seen her run though, so nothing in the past for comparison.

4th at Saratoga in August. That looks nice in the DRF, just the same.

pgardn 08-05-2007 12:43 PM

When the two outside horses (cant remember but one jock to took the other way out) took wide and she got the lead so easy I thought we had it. No excuses. The race set up very well. We got beat very fairly.

We will get them next time.

Thunder Gulch 08-05-2007 12:57 PM

The third quarter was soft enough for her on the front. Good run, but that distance is out of her reach.

declansharbor 08-05-2007 02:24 PM

Just wanted to say that you guys have a hell of a filly here and needn't be discouraged by todays performance. I tend to agree about the distance limitation theory. It is amazing though, the marked improvement this horse has embraced since the barn switch to Chuck and company.

i'm thinking 7f. she seems to have a high cruising speed, just can't find that final passing gear.
great effort nonetheless, and chuck & team can't be praised enough w/ the job they have done.
i think her pedigree screams that she will be even better as she ages, so there's more fun ahead for her and the Dee Tee crew, no doubt.

Riot 08-05-2007 04:52 PM

I know many of us are a bit disappointed, but she's been in the money every time Chuck has spotted her for us. I agree she didn't seem happy with the tail swishing (noticed that too), glad the scope came back clean. The winner ran a huge race.

Our girl is worth every bit of the adrenaline surge, every time - on we go to next time!

Fearless Leader 08-05-2007 06:42 PM

Perhaps a move to the Jamie Sanders stable could help her.

Dear Jimmy,

I was rooting for her there this afternoon, Just adding a little levity to hopefully ease the disappointment, so kindly remove that giant stick from your ass, especially when you consider the amount of bashing Ms. Sanders takes from all of you.

so, the one man jamie sanders fan club shows up...with motives pure as the driven snow no doubt.

docicu3 08-05-2007 10:23 PM

Would it be crazy to give our girl a nice long rest??

Ever since the Churchill race she seems to be working with a little less turn of foot to the naked eye. The heart will still bring a tear of pride to your eye but what limited instincts I have about all of this says she would be stronger if we let her have some time away from a grueling August campaign while Chuck gets a chance to develop some more confidence to go with that tenacious will to outrun her sisters......

The Bid 08-05-2007 10:31 PM

She split a nice field. Its very hard to win a race, let alone a race at the spa.

Shes paying for herself at this point, which is more than a lot of horses do. Hopefully she breaks through for you guys soon.

Riot 08-05-2007 10:33 PM

I think Chuck was previously talking maybe one more race this season, if she comes out if this fine and something suitable is around, then a nice vacation before starting next season in New Orleans.

Gotta say it again: Chuck, Cherie, TC, Steve - THANK YOU!

Whatta ride! :)

I disagree. She gets out of the gate pretty well, but I think her strength is being able to continue a fast (but not quite sprinter-fast) pace through the second and third quarter and still (before Sunday's try at 9f) have something left for the stretch. From what I have seen from her, I think 8f-8.5f is where she will do her best running.

Agreed. She has a good motor but she is not sprinter fast. She does exit the gate very well based on the 4 races I have seen. With her high cruising speed she is going to get tired. I think a mile is the distance. I still believe she was very well placed in this race even though we lost. Considering she was at Saratoga, Mr. Simon found a very good spot and we learned a bit I believe.

Nascar1966 08-06-2007 01:59 PM

That is one awesome looking horse that the group has. From what I have been reading about her she has come a long way and the group should hold thier heads up high. Could it of been the hot weather that messed her up a little bit, in addition to the distance? From what I see just under 1 1/8 seems to be the proper distance for her. Don't worry her day will come soon. I can almost guarantee that.
