nobiz like SLowbiz going monday on turf!!
Everyones former favorite horse from this 3yo crop, slobiz, is trying turf monday in a gr 2 at saratoga.
will he be able to duplicate his slo-ness on turf, that is what i want to know! |
He's a good horse and if he develops I think he's be a great one.

He is not that fast of a horse. Doesn't look like he ever will be. He belongs in races like the West Virginia Derby with the horses the DRF calls the "B team".
|
Hes an Albert the Great, everyone can relax on him being a good horse.
|
He was a standout (visually) on the OK Track when Sumwon jogged......

Albert The Great would be proud.
NoBiz wins a GR2 in his first ever turf start despite racing 2-3 wide on both turns.
|
Nobiz ran a great race..and he is without a doubt a good horse, but if Marcavelly had a clean trip, he would have won by at least 2. He had to check real bad, then came on strong.

Not the best ride Prado has ever given. |
perhaps the 'slow' part needs to move to another horses name....slow's tizzy perhaps??
|
if those two raced back against each other, I'd take NoBiz again.
the bad trip of Marcavelly seems over blown to me. saved ground on both turns and was for a moment blocked. NoBiz got kicked out on the first turn and lost significant ground. also for the simple fact that NoBiz is a faster horse than Marcavelly. |
Nobiz won...I'm guessing it was another same 98 or 99 beyer though :p

We all know that Albert the Great has not exactly been knocking them out of the park in the breeding shed, but he was a very good horse on the track (5-time graded stakes winner) who had a very nice 4yo campaign. I don't see why you seem to think that it would be impossible for him to sire a good horse. Given that Nobiz is a G1 winner that has now shown ability on multiple surfaces. I think you would have to say that he is a good horse. Not great, but certainly good. |

Marcavelley was tons the best in that race. Reverse the trips of Nobiz and Marc, and Marc wins that race by 4+ lengths.
|
Is it maybe possible that there is a middle range between a horse being "great" or being "slow?"
Personally, I think winning a G2 at Saratoga is a pretty impressive turf debut. Marcavelly and Distorted Reality are both decent horses, and there is certainly no shame in beating horses of that caliber. Nobiz might not be a consistent G1-caliber horse, (despite his score in the Wood) but he is certainly a G2/G3-caliber horse, perhaps on the dirt and the turf. I wouldn't call that slow. |

I do belong to a partnership and own % of more then a few horses. I would love to own a few shares of NoBiz, I certainly wouldn't turn them down if the oppertunity came along! Careful PP, I will put you in Camel Clutch, break your back and make you humble! Respect Iron Shiek Jr! |
For a first try on the turf that was pretty good. Nobiz took a little while to relax but I think he may get the hang of the turf thing compared to dirt. One would have to consider that a very pleasing run even if the fav? or close to the fav., did have a rough go.
