Breeders' Cup futures

I noticed on Letitride.com they have the Las Vegas Hilton Future Book odds for the Breeders' Cup...

Brass Hat at 22-1 looked like a pretty decent number to me.

here's the link... http://letitride.com/LVH_Future_Book...cfm?RaceID=119

I really like the idea of someone placing a future wager on Cowtown Cat to win the BCC.
Even at 125-1.....that made me chuckle.

miraja2 07-19-2007 01:24 PM

Also, Flashy Bull is one of the top ten choices.
I guess that might actually be true......but what a sad statement that is about the quality of this division.

40-1 on High Finance in the Sprint. Not sure where he's pointing this fall, but has been looking pretty freaking good lately.

Yeah, he has as good a shot as anybody. Who do they even have as the favorite in the Sprint and Classic divisions? (Link is blocked here at work)

Sprint is Diabolical and Fabulous Strike both at 8-1 and Street Sense also at 6-1 for the classic

SniperSB23 07-19-2007 01:48 PM

Thanks, thought I was the biggest Diabolical fan on the planet but apparently not. Even on BC Day I'd have a tough time backing him at 8-1. Fabulous Strike won't get a favorable pace scenario in the BC Sprint so I don't like him there. Same with Commentator. Latent Heat doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell at 6 furlongs, he should be at least 50-1. Songster is probably out for the year with a tendon injury. High Finance is looking REALLY good at 40-1.

Especially with Lewis Michael (love him, just not there) ALSO at 40-1. Seriously?!

And my personal favorite Sir Greeley is 20-1! His chance of even being in the BC Sprint are slim to none.

justindew 07-19-2007 04:27 PM

No odds on Mach Ride in the Sprint, or did I just miss it?

Travis Stone 07-19-2007 04:38 PM

I wish I could bet a future bet on Spin Master for the Sprint.

Idiot Proof is the track record holder at MTH, and was gigantic in victory last out....he's run huge before, and you don't have to worry about him taking the early heat, because he is the early heat.

I think he has a big look in that race, however, he's certainly not the soundest of horses. Shocked he wasn't on the future list.

A horse like Fabulous Strike will beat anything, and easily, if he gets his soft trip....however, even if you believe the thumps excuse, he's still never run his good race when he's had to face the early heat.

High Finance also has a look, like many have said.

No Political Force in the classic?

Paul

Ill take the couple who arent on the list.

Mach Ride, Benny the Bull

letswastemoney 07-19-2007 06:58 PM

Hey Tiago at 60-1.......

Even with the presence of Street Sense and Curlin....I wouldn't take Tiago too lightly. He might peak at the right time.

hockey2315 07-19-2007 11:03 PM

I'd take Tiz Wonderful at 75-1 and High Finance at 40-1. . .

MarkyD 07-20-2007 10:23 AM

WoW, is AsiaticBoy at 40-1, because he will running in europe this summer and not sure if he will show? or do they think he has no shot?
If this guy comes to race, I am all over him.

While his race was visually impressive if he'd gone in the World Cup he would have been like 10 lengths slower than Invasor and Premium Tap. Unfortunately 10 lengths slower than Invasor and Premium Tap ran that day might be enough to win the BC Classic since they both ran huge that day and we are left with a pile of garbage in the Classic division if the 3yos don't finish out the year.

He's got no shot at the merry-go-round at Monmouth. Hard Spun will show exactly who will be there at the wire in a few weeks when he wires the Haskell, IMHO. I hope anyway.

I don't know if these odds are actually available to bet on at the Hilton or anywhere else.
I saw Futures odds for the Breeders Cup about 6 weeks ago from the Wynn, and they weren't anything like these.
At the time, Rags to Riches was 4-1 to win the Distaff (this was prior to the Belmont).
The odds were all ridiculously bad.

Why would you expect future odds at Wynn to be the same as at the Hilton? Especially when taken 6 weeks apart! Even on the same day, each racebook will generally have a unique set of future odds.

World Sports Exchange is the only offshore sportsbook I can find with BC future odds. They are notoriously un-competitive with what TheGreek and Pinnacle offer once those books put up future odds. The Hilton's odds dominate World's odds, but even World offers a few prices that are better than the Hilton's right now. For instance, if you like Dream Rush in the Distaff, you can get 18-1 at World vs 15-1 at Hilton. If you think Lava Man will make the trip to Monmouth and win the Classic, you can get 35-1 at World instead of 20-1 at Hilton.

On the other hand, if you like Buzzard's Bay, you're better off with the 40-1 at Hilton than the 30-1 at World.

I agree with you that one would be hard-pressed to find good bets from these future odds.

Odds are pretty competitive from casino to casino in Vegas. And I mentioned it because as the BC nears, the odds should be getting lower, not higher. The worst thing about Wynn is that they have odds available on horses that have NO chance in running. It's common for the Kentucky Derby futures, but I give them a break because the pool of eligible horses who could possibly make it is so much greater. Almost 3 months out of the BCC, you could probably come up with 50% of the field today.

PPerfectfan 07-21-2007 12:41 AM

Point Determined 75-1

When was the last time he actually ran in a race?? I have him on stable alert(ummm dont ask me why, maybe I was drunk one night and did it:D ) and he has worked every now and then but thats it. And only 75/1 on him. Atleast Cowtown Cat has run in the last year!!

Yes, we do expect the odds to get lower as the BC nears. But the example you gave was that Rags to Riches was 4-1 to win the Distaff at Wynn 6 weeks ago. Now she is 2-1 at Hilton. Nothing weird about that!
