No shorts. Prefer no jeans.

And 'old school' Saratoga called for gentlemen to wear their jackets while in the boxes.. and leave them on no matter how hot it got..

Take pictures, please!

I want pictures of her on the Oklahoma, at the Siros seminar getting a peppermint from Harvey, hanging out at the 'Que, with BTW on board taking a stroll around the shedrow ... :)

Too bad I'm not good with photo editing. I'm sure someone could put those pictures together. Just need a picture of BTW in a straddling position.

Hey, Bob, does that mean you will not be there the following week-end if Sumwon runs?

Payson Dave 07-19-2007 01:16 PM

In case anyone was wondering...

Guess who might run in a race at Saratoga this summer? If you said The Green Monkey, grab yourself a banana.

The debut of The Green Monkey, a record $16 million purchase at a 2-year-old sale, was derailed last year because the colt had problems with a gluteal muscle. A year later, the Monkey still hasn't run, but he is getting closer, according to trainer Todd Pletcher.

"He could possibly run up there; he is doing well," Pletcher said. "He is training more forwardly now than he was last year."

The Green Monkey was all the buzz last year with his first start being hyped on a daily basis until he got hurt early in the meet.

"I don't know if it will be quite as much this time," Pletcher said of the buzz, "but I am sure people would come out to see him, see if he could make some headlines."

Pletcher has not yet picked a race for The Green Monkey.

Tom Amello once told me when N.Y. bred trainer - Joe Lostreeto (I'm sure I misspelled his name) has a "suit" on the day of the race...he's in the winner circle! ;)

AeWingnut 07-19-2007 05:41 PM

On Chuck's blog, he mentions where Sumwon is going to be stabled at Saratoga. I've always had an easy time visiting Sumwon in the morning. Chuck and his crew have always been very friendly.

I'm planning on being at Saratoga on the week-end Sumwon is supposed to run. Hopefully, the race fills and is run. But we won't know that until the Friday before (I'll probably already be on my way to the airport). Oh well, I've always wanted to see Saratoga....

deltagulf 07-23-2007 02:34 PM

whats the dress code for the bbq.? same as the clubs or winners circle?

southerndutch 07-23-2007 07:32 PM

Unstable: I'll be there on the 4th and 5th. I'll be sitting in Section M, Row O, seats 7-11. I should have an empty seat for you. Looking forward to seeing you then.

AeWingnut 07-23-2007 09:05 PM

Do you have to get reserve seating there? I was hoping to just do Grand stand and hang out at the paddock

Bob, I'll stop by. It sure seems like a long time since Keeneland, where you were the first partner I met.

If you aren't scared of the sun or benches then you can always sit for free out front near the rail. There are also tons of picnic tables near Carolina BBQ that should be the DT hangout spot.

AeWingnut 07-24-2007 07:43 PM

Looks like I am going to be moving soon.. could make the trip difficult.

I will have to wait until the last minute to decide to make the trip. Is there a place to stay west of Saratoga/ Albany that you would recomend.
anywhere I should avoid on the 16 hour DRIVE over.

I drive 45 mins from the Spa (Fonda), I'm sure you could a nice motel in the Johnstown/Gloversville area, 40 mins from the Spa.

I don't know of any spots that are bad to be on I-90, the drive through PA and western NY is wicked boring though.

Like HHH said the Johnstown/Gloversville area is about 40 minutes west. Utica is a little over an hour west, Syracuse about two hours west, and Rochester a little over three.

AeWingnut 07-24-2007 09:17 PM

Then you'll feel right at home in on the Thruway until you hit Herkimer.
