7/15: Belmont/Delaware

Have been slightly swamped with transition of "At the Races" to Upstate NY; the trip to Arlington for Sumwonlovesyou, and preparations for Saratoga with Carolina Barbecue.. Sorry for the dearth of Selections... Very fun card at Belmont today with an excellent edition of the Bowling Green as the lynchpin. Delaware has the 2nd day of big stakes as well with an 'all-feature' P4 looking like a good play... Also, note that the 2nd leg of the Canadian Triple Crown goes this aft at Fort Erie with the $500,000 Prince of Wales...

Thanks for the selections, Steve. I'll check if the squirrells at DEL agree (they work for peanuts). Might want to watch the top of the card to see how the track is playing. In 7 of the 10 races yesterday, including the upset in the Oaks, the horse on the lead at the first pole won.

hockey2315 07-15-2007 08:11 AM

Steve, I love that you picked Trippi's Storm on top- gives me more confidence. . .

pmacdaddy 07-15-2007 09:19 AM

A Sciacca Pick 6 Key... That's one way to get a Saratoga Bankroll.

Good Luck Today!

XIIPointStables 07-15-2007 09:54 AM

See the Trip Notes section for more on Trippi's Storm.

Someone spotted this one a while back I believe.

Best of luck to all today!

I can see anywhere's between 9/5 - 5/2...I think Prado, Velazquez, and Rose's mounts will take some money as well.

nice single on smart and fancy

declansharbor 07-15-2007 03:25 PM

Great job in the 8th, Steve, hitting the stone cold tri. Is that a generous pick 4 payout or is it me? My assesment of S and F's post time odds were waaay off.

Thanks...

The Delaware linesmaker does a TREMENDOUS DISERVICE to bettors with the horrible job making lines like he did on Smart and Fancy.. Not reflecting how dominant that one was there scares people off from appropriately judging when formulating plays. 9-2? She looked 1-2 there to me... I'm waiting to see the race (Ch. 12 up here), but I didn't see how she could lose.

Scav 07-15-2007 03:40 PM

Folks, it is of this person's opinion that the best bet you get make this year, and possible of the century is a 1-5 exacta box at Belmont.

5-1 is paying $44
1-5 is paying $66

If you are broke, go sell blood in the next 4 minutes and get to your local OTB, PRONTO

Scav 07-15-2007 03:48 PM

I can't believe that just happened. ****ING SUNRIVER!!!

pointman 07-15-2007 03:59 PM

Steve, nice call on Trippi's Storm. If he doesn't get bumped in the stretch and lose momentum, he may have won this race.

I feel lucky to get the place on Trippi anyways becuase he looked like he just got through the rinse cycle in a car wash....I didn't see that until he was going in the gate

Pt.,

Thx.. That's 2 today, Questioning (in the 5th) and Trippi's just now, that I thought had reason to run well at nice numbers. Got square efforts from both running 2nd. I haven't bet particularly well though, and leaving Nedjma off the P4 will be very costly. How about the Longshot Alert try from Point Me to It at 50-1! I managed to screwed that play up as well...

Stop worrying about that.. Many trainers sponge down their horses in the summer and they come out looking soaked...

Don't be so harsh on yourself Steve, you have had some live longshots today that have performed well. With you on the 8 here, hopefully we'll get em home.

pmacdaddy 07-15-2007 04:24 PM

Dang...Close one for second. Would have had Tri if she got second or third there...

-BT- 07-15-2007 04:34 PM

Lila Paige 50-1 give me some of that.

Put this horse in my stable mail after her last start, up against monsters but could be competitive today

Thanks for the nice selections today, Steve. I'm a small-time beginning better but have quickly learned to go with your selections for the most part. I had a Sunriver/Trippi's Storm exacta thanks to you. I had a win bet on Odetta's One in Belmont 9th that *almost* worked out!! Very luckily, I also had a small win bet on Cori's Star!! I have a bit of an obsession with Star De Naskra horses and always bet them.

Thanks again for the great job!!

Trippi's Storm getting second really killed me today. . . I've been waiting for him to move up into a stakes race and think he may have won with a slighty different pace set-up and no interference in the stretch. . . I had a pretty big win bet on him and can't believe what that exacta paid with Sunriver on top. . . Unfortunately, I was working today so someone else had to place my bets and I wasn't able to see will-pays because $57 for that combo was an absolute gift. . . Now the secret's out on Trippi's Storm and his price will drop next out. . .
