utters of gold...

milk 5.25 a gal 2 perc w.t.f

Storm Cadet 07-14-2007 12:37 PM

No corn to feed the milk cows...more is going to ethanol fuel...amazing that milk is higher than fuel per gallon.

Oil is researched, explored, discovered, drilled, pumped out of ground thousand of miles away, pumped to fuel depots in Middle East, shipped halfway around the world, unloaded and refined, pumped back on trucks to your local gas station. $3.19 approx where you live per gallon!

COWS EAT and MAKE MILK for the most part in local farms, $5.25 per gallon.

hoovesupsideyourhead 07-14-2007 12:49 PM

milk futures?

Coach Pants 07-14-2007 01:29 PM

"I only drink the finest breast milks."

Downthestretch55 07-14-2007 02:12 PM

Corn is through the roof.
I don't drink milk anymore since I had that unfortunate incident. The one when I was taking a sip and the cow tried to sit on my head.

Correct. Too late for corn futures.
Interesting, if you go to page 2 of this forum and look at "honey bee news" and scroll down, you'll see that a while back I mentioned corn and soybean futures. Watch for big increases in many other crops that depend on pollinators (think apples, fruit concentrates, veg oils, on and on).

DTS: anything GOOD on the honey bee situation?

Timm,
I haven't heard anything, good or otherwise. The mystery continues.

hoovesupsideyourhead 07-14-2007 03:45 PM

Saw something on the news here this morning. They lost most of the bees here in Florida last fall, so they are thinking it may happen again this fall. They're bracing themselves.

CRAP!!! Hopefully the bees will have built a system defense for whatever is attacking them....altho that hasn't happened as yet!
Meanwhile...I thought my grocery store was jacking the price in anticipation of a labor dispute!

Timm,
The bee problem ain't Bush's fault, but I'm thinkin' it has something to do with
their immune systems (kinda like aids -hiv) but on an entomological level.
Food prices are going nuts, but it looks like the increases in fuel costs are being passed on, for what makes the tractors go, or the big rigs that deliver it to the stores. Labor disputes...down the line (when salaries don't come close to puttin' food on the table). Milk? Butter? Ice cream?
Oh my!
btw...the farmers ain't getting rich either.

Milk's no good for you anyway.

Good OJ $8.00/gal

Milk $5.25/gal

Gas $3.00/gal

I guess it's much easier to make gas than bottle a gallon of juice or milk.

Is that with or without the vodka?

Without! Place in Hollywood, on the way to/from Gulf. They got the orchard right there. Grapefruit juice too. Stuff is the best.

AS soon as I can get a gallon of vodka for $5, I'll give up the juice and go with that alone.

You guys were chatting about the bees right?

You guys know what I do for a living...well some of you. Anyway, for years we've been putting out Gatorade for all of our summer sports campers at each sports venue on campus. Each summer since I've been there (26 years) we've always had a problem keeping the damn bees away from the Gatorade coolers and cups because of the sugar in the sports drink. I mean we used to have hundreds on the tables and in the garbage cans where the kids would toss the used cups.

This year, nada, none, zero bees have made an appearance at any sports camps. My staff was just discussing this week on how no more bee problem, no kids getting stung, no more epinephrine pens, etc. It's really scary that there has been not one bee sighting so far this summer at any of our 10-12 Gatorade stations around campus. This bee stuff is for real in the northeast.

hi_im_god 07-15-2007 12:07 AM

i waited all day.

no one else posted the most obvious take.

i'm uddery perplexed.

ding! ding! ding! ding! ding!

thank you! you've been a great audience! i'll be playing a small lecture hall at your local junior college next week!

ALostTexan 07-15-2007 12:18 AM

I am sure that the milk thing will be just like the conditioning we get on gasoline prices. They will drop the price down to $4.50 or so, and we will all say "Wow, that's a great price"....

1) who's they? the milk cartel? are they responsible for the bee shortage? i'm having a hard time keeping track of the conspiracies.

2) i have a friend with 2 early teen sons. should i consider this the same as driving a hummer? do i need to make him feel guilty for the shortage?

3) if i have a carton of vintage december 2006 knudsen 2% should i put it on ebay? i'm not saying i do. but i'm not saying i don't.

4) this has nothing to do with #3 but what is cottage cheese selling for these day?

ALostTexan 07-15-2007 04:10 AM

These guys are probably the conspirators responsible for the increased prices in milk. I don't have a clue about the bee thing, though.

If you want to sell your milk on Ebay, go ahead.

And, I have never been a fan of cottage cheese, so I don't have a clue about that, either...

I think corn problem is the reason why Dairy is rising so quickly! Cottage cheese is 2.79 for 16oz in SoCal! We need more bees!
