Prediction List

I try to avoid being one of those people who makes tons of predictions and then never mentions them again unless they prove to be correct. Thus, below I have listed a few of mine from this spring:

1) Street Sense will never race again.
2) Nobiz Like Shobiz will ultimately prove to be the best horse in this crop.
3) Zanjero will win a Grade I someday.

Laugh away, but I think I will hit 2 of 3.

Samarta 07-04-2007 08:53 AM

I can see 2 of those 3 happening.....the question is will Nobiz or Zanjero be the 2nd one......

You've been on the NoBiz bandwagon for quite some time now, including your pick in the Derby. Yeah, the horse is a nice horse, but best in crop? He will have to move forward quite a bit to reach that pinnacle. Sometimes people get "married" to a certain horse. I think it's time for a divorce!

He runs his steady decent races, but just look at that trip he had in the Derby. Absolutely perfect with no excuses. He just wasn't fast enough then, and might not be fast enough now. He just doesn't have the late kick necessary to be the cream of the crop. All or most of his wins have been mediocre, with perfect trips, and he is always overbet.

Lets see how he runs today, I hope he runs well and establishes that he belongs in the top.

Are you going to CRC for the SOS? Stop by and say hi.

Good Luck

Hickory Hill Hoff 07-04-2007 09:19 AM

I predict that Showbiz will not nearly be as good as today's Wadsworth Memorial winner!

justindew 07-04-2007 09:19 AM

Rob,

Probably not heading to Calder, simply because of my stupid promise to just watch the sport until Saratoga.

Nobiz's Derby race looked like a classic case of "Not-Handling-The-Track Syndrome." We all know that happens to some horses at Churchill. He may be one of them. We'll see how the rest of the summer shakes out. But if Street Sense heads to the farm, Nobiz has the right to make a run at the title starting with a win today.

robfla 07-04-2007 09:22 AM

promises are made to be broken. How many people have "promised to never post again if __ horse loses".

How could u miss the Summit. I admire your stubbornness

Interesting.....here are my three:

1) A top trainer like Wesley Ward or Thomas Amoss will be the next name trainer to sit out 6 months
2) Discreet Cat will never win again
3) Three 2007 Breeders Cup winners are racing on Juy 4th, 2007. They are RONDO (SPRINT), NOBIZ LIKE SHOBIZ (CLASSIC) and BOOTED (JUV).

The Bid 07-04-2007 09:34 AM

Nobiz never had a chance to be good. His daddy saw to that, proven sire of cheap lawnmowers, and plugs.

Zanerjo should win a G-1

Street Sense will race a couple more times.

i dreamt last nite funny cide ran last, now that you mention the race....

hockey2315 07-04-2007 10:10 AM

I agree with number one, number two is absolutely laughable, and the only way Zanjero can win a G1 is if he finds one with a four horse field like the mother goose or something. . .

Bold long term prediction. 1 out of 3, is my guess

First of all, I made that prediction before the Derby. Second, what if Street Sense retires before winning again, and Curlin wins maybe once more and does not return as a 4-year-old? Then maybe Nobiz can win some of the big fall races, and become a major player next year winning multiple Grade 1s in the handicap division. Who knows?

lol

it was weird, i actually only saw the result on paper. i'd imagine it would be hard to dream about a place you've never seen!

now if i had only seen the winners name....

but i'm sure the bloody mary had nothing to do with it!

unassailable08 07-04-2007 11:01 AM

I have a few predictions

1) Their will be races on the Fourth of July

2) A lot of us will be going to them and we all hope that all the dumb money brought in by the holiday will put us in the black for the year.

3) Lines for said Track's Concessions will be ridiculously long.

4) At Least One person will lose money b/c they run into an in competent Mutuel Teller.

Oh wait that all happened Last night for Me at Lone Star Park.

Why can't I make a prediction without backing it up with a wager? I'm not an action junky.

Like I said, I think it's 50/50. When they announced his sale, I probably thought there was less chance he would race again than I do now. But still, for the record, I stand by my prediction that he won't race. If my life depended on me guessing correctly on this issue, who knows what my answer would be.

I re-posted the prediction mainly so that I could be held ACCOUNTABLE for my words (an allusion to another thread here).

That wouldn't make him the best horse of the crop. That would make him a mediocre horse who needed everyone else to retire to finally get some significant wins.

justindew 07-04-2007 01:26 PM

True, unless he beats them before they retire, which I think can happen if Street Sense and Curlin race again.

I'm admitting that I will probably be wrong about my Nobiz prediction. But all hope is not lost.

The Bid 07-04-2007 04:23 PM

The Albert the Great comes out again. What a bad moving horse he is, I get uncomfortable just watching him.

Bid, I agree...he looks like the 330 pound lineman who picks up a fumble and stumbles down the field...SLOWLY

The Bid 07-04-2007 05:51 PM

He looks real uncomfortable to me, makes a lot of ackward moves.

justindew 07-04-2007 05:52 PM

I have to say, at no time after the opening 1/4 mile did I think he would win.

I also think that he is at his best when he is able to make the lead and sort of run them into submission rather than stalk and pounce. Sometimes I get the feeling he intimidates horses, like in the Wood. It seemed like no one wanted to run near him that day. I'm totally making excuses for him, but I truly think he is at his best closer to the front, if not on the lead.

The Bid 07-04-2007 06:00 PM

He may do just that Justin, hes so big, dumb, and ackward, I wouldnt want to go near him either. When he switches its so sloppy it looks like hes going to go down. I mean what bad moving horse. Tagg said when he saw that horse he knew he was a triple crown horse, he must not have seen the horse walk or move.

sounds like he needs a match race, or better yet, a walkover
