I can tell you right now...Price Tag is going to be awful tough going 1 mile. That is her ideal distance and the race she ran in the Gamely showed that while she is immensely talented, she probably doesn't really want nine furlongs. Prado is headed out west to jump on and I'm not enamored with any of the American contingent, especially since Wait A While seems to have been exposed. Although I will admit Lady of Venice could be a bit more than I think.
I was a little surprised by the placement of the race on the card. Race 5 makes it Leg B of the Pick 6, but it misses both the early and late Pick 4. I guess it had to be run at a reasonable hour for increased handle (it's scheduled to go at midnight EDT). Should be a good race and it looks like this particular event is on its way to being a solid GI with a great position on the calendar. NT |
Cali turf racing for the girls. Makes me miss my girl Megahertz.

As you well know Hossy...the only reason WaitAWhile is in there is to destroy ant hills. |

Much as i love and always root for Dancing Edie, Kiss to Heaven owns this race.

Very nice field . Size and quality. Now we hear the naysayers complaining about the placement on the card. Some players would complain if they were given the winners prior to the race going off.

They have another major race on the card. The A Gleam G2 $150,000 7 furlong sprint
Featuring....Pussycat Doll, Getback Time, Somethinaboutlaura, Theverythoughtof U I think TheverythoughtofU will take this one. She's lightly raced and has more room for improvement. Also, her dam is Stormy But Valid. |
Interesting....Stormy But Valid won the A Gleam in 1990. Like mother like daughter???? :)
|
Be aware that they are offering a Cash Call-American Oaks Double Fri-Sat..

one writer suggested surf cat could make a run at HOY. as he said, at this point of the year, tiznow hadn't accomplished anything either....who knows? horse certainly is loaded with talent. good to see him back on the track and ready to race.
|
oh lord....speaking of saturday racing at hollywood, there's a horse entered in the 7th named shanhi tang.

The $1 million CashCall Mile at Hollywood Park on Friday will not include expected favorite Wait a While, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2006.
Trainer Todd Pletcher said on Wednesday that Wait a While had developed a temperature after being shipped to California on Tuesday. Wait a While had drawn post 3 and would have been favored to win her second stakes of the year. Wait a While underwent a blood test after arriving from New York and the tests revealed an elevated white blood count, Pletcher said. "She looked okay this morning, but she's got a bit of a temperature," Pletcher said Wednesday in a telephone interview. "It's disappointing. She shipped so many times last year." Pletcher said Wait a While's plans for the summer depend on how quickly she rebounds. She is still considered a candidate for the Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington Park on Aug. 11. "The first order of business is to get her well," Pletcher said. http://www.drf.com/news/article/86386.html |
Wait a While reportedly turned to Todd and quoted her favorite line from the movie Zoolander, "I've got the black lung, pop." Todd thought she was serious.

Frankel knows this is a good runner. She likes to hear her feet rattle, and the Holly Turf will be to her liking. Love to see this one win here. |
PP for the Oaks: http://www.drf.com/row/pps/07americanoaks.pdf
And in what has become a familiar refrain this year, I have to say there is not much here for a G1. |
Battle Won is in...Chuck Simon was always big on him....Mitchell hasn't reaaly improved on him.
|
Baroness Thatcher will win.. Biancone shoots her full of cobra venom, she grows fangs and starts biting all the other horses..:D :D
|
all signs point to valbenny here.
they crawled through the opening 4f in front of her over this turf course in her last start, and she still rallied to comfortably defeat (among others) a graded stakes winning filly whom she was giving three pounds. she is three for three over the hollywood turf, and five of her last six overall. the only one that scares me is the japanese filly. |
Frankel exacta ?..The mile may fit PK perfectly...and we know that RB can ride at any track...8-1 would interest me a bit.

For information purposes, the dam of Panty Raid won 3 races and was stakes placed on turf. Her first foal was a SW in France and won 3 turf races in the US; her second was a 5-time winner on turf in France. On the other had, her colt by Broad Brush (sire of Include) Broadstreeetbully won twice on dirt but was unplaced in his only start on turf. |

Surf Cat, if he is still his same self, is the current best horse in the country. He wins this with Silent Name and Siren Lure battling for second and Bilo filling out the super.
