Prairie Meadows - Iowa Oaks & Derby
For those that do not have access to watch Prairie Meadows on TV, just go to ESPN.com click on more then horse racing then live racing.
I'll be posting selections on this thread prior to the running of race 6 Saylorville 100K starts at 9:50pm eastern. Race 7 G3 Iowa Oaks - Race 8 Iowa Derby |
I've been looking at the stakes here all week long. I really like Try to Fly in the Derby. I know he's stretching out, but his running style looks like a stalker. Inside post and all, he looks good. Can't count out Pletcher/Valazquez either.

Does Le Chateau have a shot in the Iowa Oaks?
I alreay put some money down on her. I figure she beat Sumwonlovesyou so she has to be good. Hey, Robbie's been winning a lot this year |

Prairie Meadows
R6 - Saylorville 100K # 2 Fiery Pursuit - Overbrook homebred will show some speed and D. Wayne dangerous in the midwest. #5 Ready to Please - Disappointed as the fav in the G3 Winning Colors last out for Pletcher. #6 Miss Macy Sue - Loves distance and course. 2nd in last year's running and coming in off powerful G3 Winning Colors score. Looking for 4th win in a row. R7 - G3 Iowa Oaks #7 Marietta - Top 2 finishers in G3 Selene at Woodbine came back to win their next start. Good post and upgrade in rider. #6 High Again - Bounced back after dismal Kentucky Oaks effort. She had it set up on a platter in the G3 Dogwood and couldn't have her picture taken. She's a major player versus these gals. #2 Irish Party -Must slow it down up front is she wants to be around late. #10 Le Chateau - Hard fought victory over Sumone (DT Stables) and the Spence homebred will be looming large late. R8 - Iowa Derby 250K #8 Codio - Ligthy raced colt for Asmussen looks ready to roll now that he's past some physical issues. #1 Winstrella - Should have no problems going two turns for the 1st time and Johnny V will have him in striking position turning for home. #7 Greeley's Conquest - Local star scored in the prep and is looking for his 5th win in a row. #3 Sahara Heat - We all know that AP Indy's get better with time and he's razor sharp right now. Late PK 4 starting with Race 7 - 6 7 with 1 7 8 with 1 5 with 3 4 9 = $36 Good Racing Luck |

Yipeee!
Great showing by Humble Janet (2nd) and La Chateau (4th)! Marietta won. |

Janet was closing ground fast coming home, thought for a second she would get there -bt- |
grrr really makes you wonder how Sumwon would have done. I didn't see the race
Bet Le Chateau to show and that's why she ran off can't believe Humble Janet got place... oil well |

found the replay could Robbie have gone any wider on the turn? He showed no interest in show money of course.. I had him to show I lived on Marietta you'd think I would have played that hunch  |

There's not a thread at Hollywood....Byk picked the 8 in the 3rd and Scav was totally against. Any thoughts? I think she looks good. |
Damn, Had Humble Janet to win and in my pick three. Almost.
I was at Oaklawn a few years ago, and an oldtimer next to me said "you got to watch out for those Humble horses." He said they started out naming them Humble 1, Humble 2, Humble 3, etc., up to about Humble 20, Then they made them stop using numbers. Don't know if it was true or not, but I think of him now every time I see a Humble horse.:p |
