Chris Benoit and family found dead

WWE wrestler Chris Benoit and his wife & son were found dead today in thier Atlanta home. No other details have been released. I think this puts the end on Vince McMahon's ridiculous storyline on his demise two weeks ago. The company is really in a bind now with his death.

RIP - Chris "the Rabid Wolverine" Benoit :(

One of my favorite wrestlers...learned from the Hart family his craft, always entertaining as either a good or bad guy.

Cajungator26 06-25-2007 07:46 PM

How awful! RIP to him and his family. :(

mclem10011 06-25-2007 07:53 PM

Omg.......

Mark, this is terrible!:( Please keep us posted, I'm in shock right now.:(
I've been watching Chis Benoit for years, he's one of the best workers the business has ever seen. I need more details, the whole family unreal! :(
RIP

mclem10011 06-25-2007 07:55 PM

I don't....

Expect to see any details tonight on Raw, they just usually announce it, then do a tribute.

Wow...what a tradegy! Not a fan of McMahon but this is a big blow to the Company!

mclem10011 06-25-2007 08:06 PM

It's.........

:( A huge blow, he's the best pure wrestler they had. For true wrestling fans, not fans of all the glitz, but of the true wrestling, he's one of the finest that's ever stepped in the ring.

Absolutely, trained by the great Stu Hart, he survived his infamous dungeon training style and along with Brett and Owen Hart became a great pure wrestler....tragic! Owen's death during a performance a few years ago and now this!

Seattleallstar 06-25-2007 08:27 PM

this is a ****ing blow to the wrestling world, he was probably one of the best wrestlers left in the industry

Cajungator26 06-25-2007 08:29 PM

A friend of mine just told me that she heard it may have been carbon monoxide poisoning, and that he had called off a show recently because his wife and son were both vomiting blood. This is tragic! :(

He was supposed to wrestle last night on the pay per view, but went back to Atlanta for a family emergency. Very sad and shocking story. He was one of the last "pure" wrestlers left in the business.

They dedicated the entire 3 hours of RAW to Chris tonight...McMahon came out first and said words to the effect that tonight's show was suppose to center around the supposed demise of his "character".. Mr McMahon, but in the real world, the tragic news is that Chris, his wife and son are dead.

I think that's the first time in watching 30 year's of wrestling that I saw a "broke up" Vince McMahon.
Chris's death could turn around his business back to the way it use to be.

Sightseek 06-25-2007 09:32 PM

Edge was heartbroke. :(

At least they don't think it was murder/suicide! That would be a crusher:(

I would guess that would be the direction they'd start in. Kinda strange that his wife and son were so ill, though...

SniperSB23 06-25-2007 09:35 PM

Damn, I really hoped this was a stupid, classless spinoff of the Vince is dead storyline. RIP Chris, I really feel for guys like Malenko, Jericho, and Chavo that have had to deal with Eddie and now Chris. Wrestling has become the only sport where it is tougher to be a fan than horse racing. Kudos to Vince for having the class to take one on the chin and reveal his whole storyline death was a hoax but this was very real.

That's the first thing I thought...we had one about five miles from my house on Father's Day. Wife shot the husband, then herself in front of 15 year old daughter...tragic :(

Hopefully this will turn the company back in the right direction and become a "wrestling show" again...it would be a great tribute to Chris.

this is really sad on wwe

Wrestling star Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were found dead in their suburban Atlanta home Monday. The deaths are being investigated as a possible suicide and double homicide, authorities told ABC News.

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told ABC News that Benoit had missed several appointments over the weekend, leading concerned parties to ask police to do a "welfare check." When sheriffs arrived at the Benoits' home, they found the wrestler, his wife, and their son dead.

There were no signs of gunshot wounds or stabbing, according to Pope. Authorities are not ruling out other causes, such as poisoning, suffocation, or strangulation. Pope told ABC News that his department is looking at this situation as a "possible double murder, suicide."

Pope said "the instruments of death were located on scene," but would not specify what those instruments are or where in the house the bodies were found. Pope added the department is "not actively searching for any suspects outside of the house."

Very sad:(

:(

Cajungator26 06-25-2007 10:06 PM

My friend's sister lives in ATL and used to work for WCW and said the local fox affiliate just reported the police are treating it as a murder/suicide and that all three bodies were found in different rooms. That is being reported. The speculation is that Chris killed his wife on saturday and his son yesterday and himself today.

So sad. :(

declansharbor 06-25-2007 10:10 PM

RIP Chris Benoit and family. Some sad $hit.

Hickory Hill Hoff 06-25-2007 10:10 PM

Life is strange and sometimes so sad...may they all rest in peace.

So very sad

I wrestle in the Dallas Fort Worth area, along with being a huge horse racing fan, chris benoit made me love wrestling. he personified what I loved about wrestling. Size didnt matter he beat guys who were almost a foot taller than him. He flew so well off the ropes for his trademark headbutt. I try to model myself after him in wrestling. Its so hard that to realize he's not gonna be there ne more.

I used to love the World Championship Wrestling promotion run by the Von Erichs in the 80's, another sad thing with what happen to thier family with the deaths of thier four boys.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. —

WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday, and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Detective Bo Turner told WAGA-TV the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, but said that couldn't be confirmed until evidence was examined by a crime lab.

The station said investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday. The bodies were found in three rooms.

World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning."

Lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department told The Associated Press the deaths were being investigated as homicides, and that autopsies were to be performed Tuesday. Pope said the bodies were discovered about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.

The house is in a secluded neighborhood set back about 60 yards off a gravel road, surrounded by stacked stone wall and a double-iron gate. On Monday night, the house was dark except for a few outside lights. There was a police car in front, along with two uniformed officers.

Benoit was a former world heavyweight and Intercontinental champion. He also held several tag-team titles during his career.

"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the organization said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit was scheduled to perform at the "Vengeance" pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called "personal reasons."

The native of Canada maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

"My relationship with Chris has extended many years and I consider him a great friend," Carl DeMarco, the president of WWE Canada, said in a statement. "Chris was always first-class — warm, friendly, caring and professional one of the best in our business."

Nobody has said anything bad about the guy and the prelims say he killed his 7 year old kid, and his wife, lived with them for a couple days, then took the cowards way out and killed himself. Sounds like a scumbag to me. Im waiting for someone to start a "what a great police officer Bobby Cutts was" thread.

NoChanceToDance 06-26-2007 07:40 AM

Really shocked about this. I still follow wrestling over here in the UK so we get all the WWE stuff. I couldn't believe it when i just heard this on the radio.

The polic are treating it as a murder suicide.

Apparently some of his friends had recieved some very strange text messages from him on Sunday, and began to worry.

Experts are saying his wife and child were killed on sunday and Chris died yesterday.

Whatever happened, it is very sad.

That is really neat.

I was really interested in fitness modeling a few years ago so when Trish Stratus signed a contract for the WWE I started watching. Around the same time, I met a friend at the gym who was wrestling for various companies on the East coast. He had just started so it was really interesting to see his character develop. Knowing the beating I took from hours at the gym I had all the respect in the world for the beatings he took! LOL One night I went to go watch his show and was standing alone when a little kid came up and asked if I was a wrestler's girlfriend. I said no, but such and such character was a good friend of mine. Well my friend was a heel and you could tell this kid really didn't like him by the expression of his face!

Because it hadn't been released that they thought he did that until late last night. If he did that, of course he's a scumbag.

just read it could be a murder-suicide, this doesnt look good

I prefer to get the facts BEFORE I start talking about someone...as Cajungator says above, this case is still under investigation and the info wasn't released until late last night. Right now, it sounds very strange indeed...so the best thing to do is wait before passing judgement.

Exactly... regardless of how it was done, it's a sad story indeed.
