Blockbuster NBA trade possible

ESPN reporting that the GM's are trying to work out a deal where Celtics get Amare Stottlemyer, Lakers get Kevin Garnett, Indiana gets Odom and Bynum and Minnesota gets #5 pick, #12 pick, and two Celtic players...interesting!

Coach Pants 06-25-2007 05:31 PM

The Lakers have offered Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown for Garnett, the Times reported, citing unnamed sources.

LA Times says Boston and Indiana not involved as previously reported.

Minnesota should do it if they can turn around and trade Brown to the Knicks for three #1 draft picks

Yeah....Kobe's wife would need more than a diamond....seriously, KG's game would in some ways be better for Kobe than Shaq's was!

I think it's a bad trade for the Lakers. KG, in my very humble opinion, is highly overrated and won't make much of a difference.

I think KG is underrated myself so....hopefully we'll get a chance to see who is right!

ninetoone 06-25-2007 07:14 PM

Did they actually include Kwame Brown in the deal with a straight face???

timmgirvan 06-25-2007 08:11 PM

Garnett can still play a great game.....I'm suprised that the Bynum kid would go....it only works if Kobe stays though! Course, after KB bitch-slapped Bynum in the media, I don't doubt Bynum is looking for a fresh start.

Seattleallstar 06-25-2007 08:32 PM

Garnett with Kobe...UNSTOPPABLE!

Danzig 06-25-2007 09:28 PM

i bet nash isn't happy. no doubt he wanted KG with him. so much for rumors about kobe leaving, ain't gonna happen--but then, did anyone REALLY think it would??

IrishofNDMan 06-26-2007 12:21 AM

Being a Lakers fan, Kobe and Garnett would be unstoppable and they would win probably 5 if not more Championships in a row together, and I do think Garnett is a good player, but I would say that he is a little overrated still. Hell yeah I'll still take him on the Lakers, but that's just because it would be impossible for Garnett to be overrated with Kobe next to him.

They would still need a center and point guard to dominate, especially out west...teams don't win championships without a good center (last was the Bulls with Luc Longley and they had that guy...you know, Michael something).

IrishofNDMan 06-26-2007 12:34 AM

you can say the same thing about that guy, well you know

KOBE BRYANT!

Kobe is a great player but there is only one Michael Jordan....just like in racing, there is only one Secretariat!

i havent heard phoenix to be involved, and why the hell would anyone in their right mind trade amare? somer you didnt put what amares team would be getting in return

declansharbor 06-26-2007 12:30 PM

KG to the Lakers wouldnt get them over the hump. If they were in teh East, yeah, a sure lock to get to the Finals. As it is, they are in the West, and such move would really not even matter. The West is too stacked at the moment for this move to even make a tremor in the ranks.

Heard Phoenix is involved seperately, but any deal involving Garnett, Minny wants Amare in return.

They would be unstoppable til the 2nd round of the playoffs where, San Antonio, Phoenix, or Dallas would wax them.....court isn't big enough for Kobe and KG...I don't see Kobe ever fitting in with another scorer that isn't a big man. Not that KG isn't a big man, but I mean a center....like ummmm Shaq....

Danzig 06-27-2007 05:50 AM

from what little i heard this am, the deal ain't happenin

disappearingdan_akaplaya 06-27-2007 11:31 AM

newest deal supposeably has KG to the suns which is where he said he wants to go, the celts get the matrix and i forgot who the hell the TWOLVES get but who cares they basically ruined KG'S career and had their chance with him

King Glorious 07-03-2007 10:46 AM

In the future, people need to remember a couple of things. The Lakers aren't offering Bynum in a deal with Odom. At least at this time they aren't. They could change their minds but at this time, they aren't trading Odom and Bynum. If they were, they would already have had Jason Kidd last year or Jermaine O'Neal this summer. The reason neither of those trades went down is because of the Lakers' refusal to part with Bynum. That is what triggered Kobe's reaction in his infamous video.

The second part is that Kobe is still insisting to be traded. Before Garnett agreed to come to the Lakers if they could have worked out a deal, he said he wanted to talk to Kobe first. The reason was because he wanted to know if him coming would make Kobe change his mind. After talking to Kobe, Garnett was against coming to the Lakers because Kobe informed him that he STILL wanted to be traded.

Third thing is that any rumor u hear that will have Stoudamire leaving and KG going to the Suns is flat out WRONG!! There is not a chance in hell that the Suns would get rid of Stoudamire, who has many years of greatness in front of him, for a guy that's on the downside of his career like Garnett. I know that age wise, Garnett is still in his prime. But he's played 12 NBA seasons now and that's more important than his age. He's in the same position as Kobe is. People look at their ages and think they are young and have plenty of years left but forget that they both came into the league right out of high school and have put in many years already. U have to judge how much they have left in the tank by how many years guys put in, not by how old they are.
