5-2 on this freak is a gift. . . I don't expect him to go off at that. . .

This is a race that I have a great deal of interest in watching, but I don't think I'll be able to come up with any appealing way to wager on it.

The Dogwood looks like a decent race. This one...not so much.

Danzig 05-31-2007 06:25 PM

saint anddan. even if frankel has him.

robfla 05-31-2007 06:25 PM

has gaff ran since his turf win derby w/e??

fpsoxfan 05-31-2007 06:34 PM

Yes...back to the topic....I think I'd possibly use Santana Strings somewhere underneath.

The Indomitable DrugS 05-31-2007 06:35 PM

Fabulous Strike and Greg's Gold will run 1st and 2nd.

Fabulous Strike at 5-2? I'm not commenting on what is the required value for me to bet on him, but looking at his numbers compared to the rest of the field, this could be one of the worst morning line odds I've seen. The betting public will see his high numbers and I bet we might not see even money. What would you all guess he goes off at?

I'll say 4/5

No Problem...I was just trying to ease what was at first a very upset BackthroatedWind over a previous post by another member.

I can't see the odds being that low. Not when Frankel has a contender.

hockey2315 06-01-2007 12:18 AM

The MNR angle should keep the odds a little higher. . . If anyone hasn't seen video of this horse run, they should. . . He just floats over the ground. . .

TitanSooner 06-01-2007 02:46 AM

They're giving money away

letswastemoney 06-01-2007 03:58 AM

Greg's Gold will crush this field

I honestly don't see how he beats 'Strike.. he's just not fast enough

The Bid 06-01-2007 10:52 AM

Why even run it?

The only way Fabulous Strike loses is if they forget to pack his prerace.

If anyone crushes this field its going to be Fabulous Strike. If for some reason he doesn't run to his Mountaineer/Penn speed fig's, then I agree that Greg's Gold is probably the next most logical horse but he's not going to crush this field.

I haven't looked at the PP's or the conditions but I agree Danzig, watch out for Saint Anddan and Gaff too. I wouldn't leave them out. I might change my mind after looking at PP's and conditions, but just based on entries that's where I am leaning. They both like that kind of a surface.

This is completely off topic, but...

GEAUX SAINTS!!!

Bobby Fischer 06-01-2007 02:33 PM

Good Luck Fabulous Strike!

I know he has a lot of fans on the board.

He should beat this field, although a few of these could step up. Frankel's Anddan could be dangerous.

SentToStud 06-01-2007 02:46 PM

I can't see Fabulous Strike winning. He's probably going to run as good as he did in the Stephens, the only time he ran vs real horses. Can't wait to bet against him if he's less than 2-1.

If he runs as well ( you know I can't resist ) as he did in the Woody Stephens, at 7F, then he is long gone in this race.

brianwspencer 06-01-2007 02:53 PM

I wouldn't be too excited to jump on him as an odds-on gamble just based on the competition factor, but the fact remains that on just about every numerical scale meant to measure speed of thoroughbred races (Beyer, TG, etc) this horse simply towers above every other horse in the field based on recent form.

I'd have to dig in more based on class/pace etc, but his raw numbers are just way too good for this group.

Mayhaps yes. Mayhaps not. I just don't see this going slower than sub :22 and sub :45, with him more likely to be 3 wide than 2 wide on the turn. He hasn't seen the latter and missed the one time he saw the former at Philly. Maybe he's as good as his figures; at a short number I'll say no. Should be a good race.

Bobby Fischer 06-01-2007 04:36 PM

I have also been waiting for Strike to draw into a big race, to bet against him, but this field isn't that strong IMO. FS will give you a good 6 furlongs and his style can throw other early speed horses out of their game. This is about a Grade 3 level race, unless some others step up. The field is only 7 deep, its hard to get Strike out of the exacta even if he doesn't run well.

I am rooting for FS to win in visually impressive style this time.

Well it is a Grade 3 race...

The Indomitable DrugS 06-01-2007 06:35 PM

There were some smoke and mirrors trip wise in those three WVA wins---all soft trips, against moderate company----however, his figures are stone cold legit.

He figures to get his trip here---so we should find out if he's just a freak at MNR and only a good horse elsewhere...or if he improved and developed since his loss as the 2/5 favorite to Diabolical four starts back.

We'll see. He's got about a 1 in 5 chance of NOT being 3 wide on the turn. If Off Duty breaks decent or better, he could be 4 wide. He's going to have a hard time passing two graded winners and holding off another graded winner off the trip he's likely to get.

Missed Churchill Downs track record for six furlongs by just 0.05 seconds.......

XIIPointStables 06-02-2007 05:09 PM

Impressive indeed!

cmorioles 06-02-2007 05:09 PM

It is pretty rare I would call a horse an overlay at 4 to 5, but this is one of those times.

How soon do you think it will be until we see a horse with such gigantic figures, earned multiple times, go off at that price?

Sure seemed to me like if he wanted it, it would have been no problem.

Bobby Fischer 06-02-2007 05:12 PM

great!

Kasept 06-02-2007 05:18 PM

 that..

That Ramon's style to win by just enough and to save some energy for the next race. Hard to believe one of the top sprinters in the country is stabled at Penn National.
