Michelle Wie

playing in Charleston, SC this week on the LPGA....with YET ANOTHER different caddie. Former full time caddie for Justin Rose takes a shot with her this week.

*note to little Wiesy....it ain't the caddy kid, you have had some of the best in the business*

Samarta 05-28-2007 06:48 AM

Kev,

Is she calling the shots? I ask because the way she is being handled is horrible. All the trys at the PGA level, the endorsements, the caddies, and it goes on and on....this girl is on the verge of going from phenom to what a shame...granted she is still very young, but someone has got to right the ship...

pmayjr 05-28-2007 07:07 AM

I predict she's gonna be like Capriati... except without the drugs. She's just gonna burn out within 2 years, and then she'll resurface in her mid 20s and start winnin.

Sam, her father BJ calls a great deal of the shots. It's a shame really, she is tremoundously talented.

it's all about the money....put that girl on the lpga tour full time, devote the attention to golf and she rewrites the record books.....but right now when it matters, the most important thing is does the purse and belt match the golf bag, because the contract says it has too....shame....

Seattleallstar 05-28-2007 10:55 AM

she will be unstoppable once she develops into a full figured woman

Jennifer Capriati had some legitimate titles in the win column before she wasted some years with drugs...but I believe she's straightened out now As far as MW goes, she probably can't get rid of her Pop til she's 18!

GPK 05-31-2007 09:54 PM

Took a 10 on her 3rd hole today....then WD's. Nice class act by this girl. Left out the side door of the clubhouse today to avoid reporters and left a ton of momentos that she was supposed to autographed, unsigned.

I really wanted to see her do well....but it is becoming increasingly difficult in finding a reason to root for her.

Lots of growing up to do....and her old man has really lost it.

Is this not the pinnacle cowardice in Golf if you are not injured? Kev?

Is a fine in order?

It is Pat. She has had wrist problems earlier this year, but her and her agent were more afraid of the 88 rule, than anything else.

I feel more sorry for Ashley Gomes. This wonderful young lady is trying to make a living out there and was the last one bumped from the tournament when the sponsors gave Wie an exemption. I know she puts people in the seats...but for God's sake, honor you commitment. Even if you do suffer a real injury, stick around another couple days and make sure you keep the sponsors happy.

This girl has a long way to go and alot to learn.

Samarta 06-01-2007 06:29 AM

just another addition to the long list of spoiled young athletes that has truly lost the edge to compete.....it's crazy what a lot of money will do to the attitude of some.....make a 10 and quit because I still have my endorsements...they forget where their bread is buttered and then it becomes too late and they are the one that had all the potential but never realized it.....shame....

As I've said before, she needs to dump her Dad...but I don't think her game is washed up,just stagnant! She's also using her age to side-step responsibility for her actions. Only time will tell

Women look like they can play golf and tennis at a high level. Their strokes and swings can look really good.
WNBA Basketball... it really looks bad. No hops and it shows.

Do the Williams sisters come to mind here? Granted they did prove they belonged by winning at the highest level, but had their Dad not been running around like a maniac with his cameras and signs and totally disrupting their development. Now they are basically has beens that people have little interest in. Serena still brings something to the table, but for the most part it's over for them.

Samm: Venus just set a record for speed of serve! Granted ..we haven't heard much from them recently, but both can still if motivated. Believe me..the bucks are still rollin in

Timm,

I know the bucks are still rolling....much more for Serena though....I'm just saying the Williams sisters did what they did in spite of themselves....speed of serve means little....Wie is longer off the tee than anyone....none of it matters when the potential isn't realized....and although the Williams sisters did a lot in a very short period, imo they were/are nowhere near what they could have been had they been sound between the ears....same with Wie....

timmgirvan 06-04-2007 09:08 PM

There's a longer shelf life in golf than in tennis. To tell you the truth, with all the prima donnas in their teens, I didn't follow the women that much. All MW has to do is find a PRO coach and Pops may fade away....also possible that her management group might have a few suggestions,if ya know what I mean

The Indomitable DrugS 06-05-2007 01:41 AM

24 posts in this thread and not a single picture of her!

Good God.....what madness. Hopefully you guys aren't actually talking about her golf game.

Here's a picture of her playing with one of Hickory Hill Hoff's shirts on.

Here's another picture of her with another one of "Triple H's" shirts on.

Here's what she looks like when shes not wearing shirts from Triple H's closet.

At least I hope he doesn't have that in his closet.

I'm pretty certain Serena won the last grand slam event played in Australia. That's hearing something I believe.

she did win the Australian, I'm not doubting her ability, I'm simply saying that the Williams sisters are another in a long line of "the next big thing" that failed to reach their full potential due largely in part to their handlers. Do they win...sure....do they win at the clip they could? No way.....tis all I'm saying.....

Thank you Annika. Someone on that tour should have called her out long before.

The attitude of this drama queen and her handlers sickens me. It would be a horrible waste of talent, but I hope she never wins a tournament on any level

Her pro-am playing partners complained about her too. Teenage girls can be pretty goofy. With all that's gone on around her, it's not a shock. In fact, it's be more surprising if she didn't have 'issues.' She's wrong for sure but she's only a kid.

I find myself feeling the same way as well. At first I was a fan, as she bought great attention the the game I love. But her and her handlers seem to think they are bigger than the game...and not even Tiger is bigger than the game.

Her immaturity and lack of class is beginning to show....and it just stems from being in the company of some pretty classless people.

gales0678 06-06-2007 08:10 PM

Too much hype !

Ochoa can beat her brains out right now !

Women's golf has a hard time getting attention, this type of negative attention is just what they don't need!

She is becoming a joke

I will say though - Tiger pulled out of the '95 open at Shinecock when he wasn't going to make the cut with some type of phantom injuy - Earl and team Woods took at lot of heat for that, but, they were able to re-group and we know the rest of the story- time will tell for michelle

3kings 06-06-2007 08:15 PM

Someone needed to throw her under the bus and I admire Annika for doing it. It could not have been easy to come out with those statements. There have been locker room rumblings for a long time. The biggest issue is she acts like this on sponcer exemptions.

However this could help Wie, don't be suprised now if Nike gives her some advise. They will have a sit down with the whole Wie circus train, because they have a lot of money invested. They may even tell the dad to back off.

She is young and there is still hope, but there have been many spoiled brats whose behavior never improved.

When Annika speaks perhaps the kid will listen, I don't blame her...she's still too young for all this but the class of those around her is a problem! If it isn't addressed now, a great talent will be wasted!

Not so sure I agree with that. Although Annika's game has not been up to a level that we are used to, she has carried that tour on her shoulders for the past decade. She is respected and held in the highest regard among her peers out there. The LPGA is playing for a great deal more money than ever before and Annika plays a large role in that. I assure you, she is not about to stand by and watch anyone disrespect what she has had a great hand in building.

Danzig 06-06-2007 08:44 PM

it's a shame how the whole wie situation has played out from day one. no way a kid should be put into the situations she's been put in. they should have let her mature, it's called the Lpga for a reason--adolescents need not apply. talent doesn't mean a lot when you're a head case.

i remember when andre agassi turned pro. so much talent, everyone knew he was going places. he went out and had fun, and ticked off a lot of people who thought he was wasting that talent. he didn't waste it, he had a good time, then grew up and got serious, and lasted at the top of the game for years and years longer than so many of his burned out contemporaries.

ddthetide 06-06-2007 08:57 PM

the report i heard this afternoon was that she REALLY upset the sponsors, McDonald's i think.
why is she allowed to act this way? shouldn't the tour step in and take some action?

pgardn 06-06-2007 10:02 PM

For gosh sakes Wie went out to the practice range and hit balls with ONE whole day of rest? Mickelson was getting injected with cortisone and told to rest. Pathetic.

And Serena Williams. I watched her recent French Open match. She is now officially a fat, out of shape tennis player. I know she is muscular and has the tendency to be large, but now she is fat. Stay off the flippin court, people play to watch you play a game you got to be in shape for. There is no fat in Tennis.
You cant play clay court tennis out of shape. She showed no foot work whatsoever. Made no attempt to get her feet set properly because that requires effort. Horrid showing for such talent.

tide....she did get upset while she was at registration. When the players register, there are given 1 wrist band, per day, for a guest to accompany them into the players hospitality area. Michelle got upset and started acting like a bit childish because she wanted at least 3 or 4 per day. She finally whined enough where she was given 1 extra per day, but even then she was still not happy at all.

Still alot of growing up left to do.

Its her management , jeez its like watching a horse run over its head 14 times in a row , then when it finally drops it still doesnt get there cause its had its heart jerked out to many times . I feel bad for her , she can really play but the route her advisers have chosen for her is just plain stupid.
