I looked at the 8th for over an hour. It's an interesting race and probably a good one to bet against Harlington. I came up with Thanks D ... too slow; Harlington.... too iffy with the ankle; Dark C.... never itm on dirst over 6f; Chowder.... too slow. Mustanfar's run well on dirt vs some decent horses at several tracks; Art Master... can't see Frankel wasting a race, but I could be wrong. I'm seeing 5 and 4. FWIW. Can't hit the barn from a foot away, but I'll be at Calder today giving them hell. good luck.

Antitrust32 05-24-2007 09:39 AM

hey stud, I'm heading to calder today also. Where will you be sitting?

It's a totally impossible race for pretty much all the reasons you gave. There is basically no way to trust anyone in the race.

all over. pm'd my cell. give a yell if you're out there.

philcski 05-24-2007 10:57 AM

Some thoughts on the card:
R3) Raven H and Stopbluffing are terrible at their ML prices. Neither have run close to par and Stopbluffing's best race was a phony inside post moderate pace waltz on the inner. I like Mission Approved at 4-1 (doubt he ends up at that.) Has enough early pace to stay close and the best closing kick of the bunch plus returns at the same 1-turn mile distance. Would also use Love Abroad in multirace wagers, throw out the last two turf races and the 7.5F dirt effort was very a solid defeat to a decent NYB (Market Psychology).

R5) Tagg's entry will be very tough, especially if both go. If I play the pick 6 I will single them. Miracle Moment has the best pace in the race but if she's pressed Bitter Lemon will clean up the pieces.

R8) I like Dark Cheetah at 3-1 on the stretchout. Should end up on the lead by default without a whole lot of pressure, and I don't trust Harlington off the layoff, Art Master turf to dirt (although I think he's the main competition), or Mustanfar at anything less than 10F. Will single this leg as well.

Still debating on whether to play the P6 as the rest of the legs are a mess and I feel like I could get both singles home and STILL get knocked out by some ridiculous bomb in the MCL's.

philcski 05-24-2007 11:13 AM

If I play the P6, the tickets:

1,3,4
1
1a,5
3,4,6,10
3
1,3,4,5,6,7,10

6,7,8,9
1
1a,5
3,4,6,10
3
5,6,7

$336 and $192

May be a waste, but I am going to try to get the #2 involved in the 6th at BEL.

Third off layoff droping in for tag off two horrible efforts. Tried blinks and sod in those two. Now loses blinkers and returns to dirt Mile where he put in a decent effort last spring. Maybe at big big price....

Good Luck Today!

Scratched, I took a look at him at what would have been a big big price.

pmacdaddy 05-24-2007 11:58 AM

Thanks. Guess there goes my bomb for today...

Think I will play Steve's pick4 and include #9 in the last for extra $8.

The 9th is a mess. I could see 8 different horses winning this, anyone except the 2.
Take a look at the 10 as well for your pick 4 at a monster price...

Star Studded comes off that horror trip last out and figures to be loose or at least get a better trip. It's now or never for him.
They shift to the widener course, however, and Bold Buy figures to get a clear late run.

Also like the 5 in the 7th and the 3 and 6 in the 9th.

Scav 05-24-2007 02:03 PM

If I had the 3 in Race 3 in the pick three am I getting a refund on that or was I stuck with the favorite?

Starting with the 3rd, or as the middle leg?

Starting- refund
Middle- conso payoff

Steve - Nice work in the 4th (5th too for that matter).

I wanted to take shot on First Grandson, so I did $2 Tri Box with your top two. Very nice...

57rick 05-24-2007 02:34 PM

Playing Highland Cat in the 7'th $20 WP.
Good luck to Alan over at the blog Left at the Gate.

philcski 05-24-2007 02:46 PM

Wow, the power of a late scratch. A very straightforward P4 sequence paid $639!!

Blew pick 4 in 1st leg. Live to everyone except 2 in last leg of pick3. Come on with a bomb here...

PSH 05-24-2007 04:16 PM

Fave wins

#7 Party Jones. 5-2

Not much of a Pick 3 - get my $$ back and a little more.

Guess not...

Scav 05-24-2007 04:24 PM

Would you believe I have a $100 DD going to this four horse in the last, did he lose by alot or just a nose?

PSH 05-24-2007 04:26 PM

4 had a nice lead

but the 7 blew by him mid way in the stretch and was much the best.

I thought it was a dead heat....less than a hair.

Scav 05-24-2007 04:32 PM

Thanks man, that ticket would have been nice also right there, would have given me a load for the weekend, yesterday's cashing has already been distrubited away so I can prevent tiltness. I do have a $250 WP ticket on Sumwon on the horizon though

Good luck this weekend. Hope you keep it rollin.

philcski 05-24-2007 04:41 PM

What makes no sense (I had neither of these, unfortunately):
The P4 parlay was $355, and it pays $509.
The P6 parlay was ~$3,750, and it pays $3,088 WITH A CARRYOVER. What am I missing here?!?

hoovesupsideyourhead 05-24-2007 06:09 PM

freakin exton..lazy horse..

Scav, your exploits yesterday inspired me to go after 4 day carryover at Golden Gate today. A very chalky sequence (4 favorites, 2 second-favorites) produced a payout paying the lordly sum of $650.00. Hoping for a longshot in at least one of the races, I only hit it once (but at least I made some money).

Woo-hoo!

No need to worry about tiltness, but I do have a little more to bet on Sumwon this Saturday. Thanks for the inspiration.

Sunny Boy who scratced today, is in the 6th tomorrow. 6F vs. Mile, but this field is truly awful. 6/1 ML, if Turf and Blinks were issue could be a winner here. Third off the Layoff.
