What made you decide to go toss Bernasconi in the fifth?

I suppose if anyone here was interested, you could use PayPal. Or you could Wester Union the money. Or, if you happen to live in South Florida, we could meet at Calder.

I'm going to place the bet at Calder sometime around 3:00 today. Let me know by then.

Best of luck, I hope you hit. I'm not playing, so I'll be rooting for the DT'ers to catch a piece...

how much is one share?

justindew 05-23-2007 10:11 AM

You can put in as much as you want.

Go it for it, Lori. You back in Florida?

I just want to point out how careful you need to be about something like this. It would easy for there to be ambiguities that could lead to anything from hard feelings up to lawsuits.

For example, what happens if the total money paypal'd to you is greater than the cost of the ticket? Who gets what share then?

What happens if someone WU's you money but you don't pick it up before the bet goes in? Are they still in? What happens if they WU you at 3:15pm?

What happens if you hit a monster payout--how will you handle it tax-wise? Will you send 1099's to your partners next January?

You have to think about as many of these things ahead of time as possible.

Good points. I think we can work everything out though. Shouldn't be a problem.

Ahhhhh, the old mailbox rule... acceptance of an offer is made when dispatched :)

yup got back yesterday

justindew 05-23-2007 11:58 AM

Change of plans. I'm going to place the bet right now. I'm assuming no one wants in. If anyone decides they are interested, email me at justindew76@yahoo.com before 3:00pm today. If we can't work out the details, I will go it alone. No big deal.

justindew 05-23-2007 12:02 PM

Parko scratched out of the 5th. Using the #2 instead.

Already Out.

justindew 05-23-2007 04:40 PM

I love it when people take pride in delivering bad news.

Stay hot.

TitanSooner 05-23-2007 05:18 PM

agreed.. that's pretty low.

justindew 05-23-2007 05:25 PM

Well, I'm 0 for 2, and probably on my way to 0 for 6. Serves me right for trying to beat the favorite in Leg 1.

TitanSooner 05-23-2007 05:32 PM

I'm right with you.

There are a few (a very few) angry/hurtful people here... I sent someone a PM letting them know as politely as I could that I didn't appreciate their "joke" on another post (a line about "DerbyTrail keepads" after I complimented Steve) and I got an insulting/hateful reply back... not even a "sorry, bad joke" - instead I was insulted. Not cool at all

Other than that, my experience here has been great :)

yeah, i saw that knee pad line...thought it was pretty crappy.

eajinabi 05-23-2007 06:12 PM

A lot of sensitive people here today

I am 0 for 4 already. Is that better????
then again I played only 16 bucks

justindew 05-23-2007 06:15 PM

I'm not sensitive. I just thought you sounded like an idiot breaking my balls when I lost $1,156 right off the bat. It just seemed like a classless thing to do. I don't know many true horseplayers who do stuff like that.

But whatever. It's not my first big losing ticket, and it won't be my last.

blackthroatedwind 05-23-2007 06:19 PM

That was very lame.

I hit a big Pick-6 a couple years ago and posted every horse I used on another board, race by race, and while many/most congratulated me, one jackass went on a crusade that I didn't hit it and needed to offer proof.

Just think how annoyed that poster would have been had you hit. It'll happen.

Danzig 05-23-2007 06:21 PM

there's one in every family....

justindew 05-23-2007 06:28 PM

Yeah, it bothered me for about 10 seconds. You gotta move on. What sucks for me is I'm probably going to hit 4 of 6, and there won't be a carryover.

eajinabi 05-23-2007 06:38 PM

hey I got Idiot Proof on my ticket.
matter of fact I singled him
so I am now 1 out of 5 going into the last race.

robfla 05-23-2007 06:41 PM

thats one of the reasons I rarely tell anyone my plays before a race. Especially live at the track. most people are rooting for me to lose. weird thing about horse gamblers they love to point out when you lose

justindew 05-23-2007 06:43 PM

It's not just horse gamblers. Come to think if it, it's not just gamblers.

Danzig 05-23-2007 06:44 PM

no-win situation.
if you don't post picks, and you hit, you get abused.
if you post, and miss, you get abused.
post, hit, get abused for not posting soon enough!
