Grade I Winner Lite Light Dead at 19
Lite Light has died after delivering a MIneshaft filly. She also leaves behind a Vindication colt and a Grand Slam filly. RIP beautiful girl. Thank you for all the thrills. This fan will miss you.

I thought she was too legit to quit.

God, the horse that gave us Hammer shirtless waving his blue leather vest in the Belmont box area will always have a special place in my heart.
And of course, who can ever forget Hammer's first words in the post-CCA Oaks press conference........" where's Paseka? " |
phuck off Andrew...I loved that mare....

Gaily Egret won $1.7 million in Japan ( 32 starts - 8 wins - 4 seconds - 4 - thirds ) and Saddad won $140K in the UK. She also had a minor winner of a similar amount in the US. |

She had one filly who was sent to Japan and did well, besides that, not much. |

Here's the link from Bob Fox's website (there is some great commentary there and there are plenty of other great races there as well). I always thought the Mother Goose was an absolutely great race, and the CCAO with Lite Light avenging her loss was a classic scene, LOL. Eric |
Well, they certainly turned that mutha out...

Lite Light was gaining momentum down the stretch. There it is, there it is. Ya'll.

You guys thought I was kidding about him taking his vest off? The greatest thing may have been that he was sitting next to the Phipps box. It was a truly great moment. The Hammer was great. He used to stop and sign autographs for all the kids. He was awesome. And they BET. Either he, or his Dad, bet over 100 dimes on her in the Mother Goose and skewed the odds ( she was a super tough luck loser ). On a side note, Lite Light finished the Pick-6 that day ( it used to end in the 8th ) and it paid a whopping $211 or so. There were at least two 1-5 laughers in the sequence ( one was a Mack Miller - Rokeby horse, I think named Secret Sharer, that won by 15 on the turf ) and only one mildly tough horse who won at about 3-1 on the lawn. I remember liking that horse, as well as thinking Lite Light was a cinch, and hitting the Pick-6 like 4 times for $16 or $32. |
