Naming of two year old colt

Saw an interesting thread a little while back on suggestions for naming of a horse.

Looks like we are about to get a 2YO colt with a pedigree of Wiseman's Ferry out of a Sued mare (St.Jovite)

Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

yup; there's some awsome names on this list. my partner just submitted our name for our month old colt to the jockey club for approval. what do you all think about naming your foal (with the goal being auction) vs. leaving it unnamed for the yearling buyer ?

Cajungator26 05-11-2007 04:07 PM

Dirty Sanchez is taken, unfortunately. :D

Cleveland Steamer is available, though.

I have always liked Ellis Dee or Burrton Ernie.

I can hear Tom Durkin now...

Sue The Ferry. Sue A Ferry could work too.

That way you make headlines no matter how good he turns out to be.

solomon's sloop??? lol
jove is another way of saying jupiter, not sure tho that you would want jupiter anywhere in there, or zeus...

nothing really coming to mind, but i do like 'don't pay the ferryman'.

and acheron is the name of one of the rivers of the underworld.

I used to work for a commercial breeding farm and they never named a foal...the reason being that naming it is one of the most fun parts of buying/owing a horse (apart from winning of course).

paisjpq 05-11-2007 06:27 PM

I like names that flatter the dam rather than the daddy....

Probable Cause

Danzig 05-11-2007 07:06 PM

well, if you go by the dams name, how about

'and won'? or lawyer gets half! lol
