SWLY's TG#/Girls Pearls

McPeek and wife run back 'Girls Pearls', who bested Sumwonlovesyou a week ago Sunday, today in Churchill's feature which includes Awesome Ashley. (A quick turnaround in my view, but that's Kenny's problem, though I imagine she must be kicking the stall down for him to bring her back on 11 days rest..)

More importantly, I hadn't had a chance to communicate Sumwonlovesyou's Thoro-Graph figure from the race last week.. She got a 10.. Girl's Pearls' a 9.5. It's a very nice figure for our gal, and obviously a big 'new top'...

AeWingnut 05-10-2007 03:50 PM

Girls Pearls by 3 over Awesome Ashly

BPLichorowiec 05-10-2007 03:52 PM

Impressive run by her coming 4 wide and passing the favorite in the stretch. Positive sign for our girl...

pmacdaddy 05-10-2007 03:53 PM

Oh boy! We better watch were we put our Girl...

Robbie Albarado
or did you really forget:p

Riot 05-10-2007 04:08 PM

LOL - I really blanked, Wing :D

I had 1-5-6-9 boxed for a tri, didn't even think to box a super - ARG! But the racing gods owe me a little back after my Derby contributions, I think :)

Girls Pearls looked pretty darn good.

AeWingnut 05-10-2007 04:24 PM

I didn't have the PP's and just keyed the favorite over those 3 horses
I spent less money but didn't win

I think Sumwon moves up because Chuck and Steve said she won't be available for a tag long before Girls Pearls won today's $50k allowance race.
Hopefully the claiming race wasn't just a workout for today's race.

Steve, I saw her sheet in the red board room at TG the day after her race... she had worked her way down to a 15, then you purchased her, she ran an 18 on the turf, came back on somewhat short rest:) , and then ran the 10. Interesting pattern, to say the least.

I'm surprised the turf effort was an 18 (I would have thought it higher) ... have to remember to get her TG sheets next time. Thanks for that.

T2D, 2nd off break, dropping down/cutting back.. A masterstroke by Chuck. Turns out we ran into something good in the McPeek...

Sumwon's last race just seems to look better and better. Great job again, Chuck. We may have a nice one here.

Zaf 05-11-2007 12:24 AM

Wow , Girls Pearls really surprised me today. I thought she really benefited from that golden rail trip last out. She was oh so impressive today ! Can we say Key Race ! Go Sumwon !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

golfer 05-11-2007 05:16 AM

I have her TG sheet saved on my computer, but I have no idea how to post it:confused:

Cannon Shell 05-11-2007 11:11 AM

pointman 05-11-2007 11:28 AM

Thanks, Chuck. Really looking forward to the next race especially after the impressive win by Girls Pearls yesterday.

Chuck, do you ever try to look ahead and project which horses are likely to end up in a field before entering one of yours? Does the racing secretary keep a list of what horses are eligible for the various conditions or is that purely the job of the trainer to figure out?

With this being a two turn distance, do you think we are likely to see about the same field we had last time? 6 or 7 fillies, probably at least 3 of them ones that were in the last race of Sumwon's?

I absolutely love the MTO angle. It's a great way to pick up big checks when all of the the turf specialists scratch out of the race.

I always loved it here when we'd get a 12 horse field, 9 of which had never run on the turf before and had nothing in their breeding to even suggest turf, and the pigs would scratch when the race came off the turf. Gotta love being in 4 horse fields when running for lots of $$$$'s.....

Thanks for the update Chuck!!! :)

Riot 05-12-2007 11:06 AM

Right now, rain predicted Tuesday night and Wednesday ...

I was at Churchill yesterday - empty! I stopped by the barn to see Sumwon, but it was after training hours, everything quiet, so didn't bother her - her butt from a distance outside the shedrow (down, sleeping) looks very shiney :D

AeWingnut 05-12-2007 02:29 PM

I am all for her getting some money
just can't make plans for a MTO appearance

good luck

I dream of Sumwon with a shedrow shiny butt:rolleyes:

Just looked at the entries on the DRF site for Churchill Downs for the 16th. Sumwon isn't listed for that allowance race. Not even for the AEs or the MTOs. There are 10 horses entered, with 4 Also Elligible and 1 Main Track Only.

I couldn't have made it for that race anyway (although I wouldn't have minded if Chuck got a winner's check).

Chuck decided to pass the entry box for the MTO.. Will point for the 5/25 ALW spot only with a workout this week.. Martinez in the irons for the spin.

Danzig 05-13-2007 06:28 AM

i'll have to see if i can manage a day off that friday, open thursday am and get on the road......

we'll see.

jman5581 05-15-2007 02:36 PM

I have a wedding that weekend in Louisville, so I might just make it in town a day early to catch the race.

AeWingnut 05-15-2007 04:08 PM

I have scheduled the day off and plan on going down the day of the race

Danzig 05-15-2007 07:11 PM

i'm really considering coming up.....infinitely more do-able than the last race. i guess i need to seriously talk it over with my other half, and make plans one way or the other...since friday is the start of the holiday wknd, need to make a hotel reservation, etc....
kids are psyched, they want to go-take them out of school for the day. only drawback is that tony can't go.

Riot 05-16-2007 01:59 AM

I'll be there :)
