I think he does take a step back on poly...then too, his trainer kept the goal in mind. He's the only one with a chance now so I hope he runs his race in Maryland! |
Oh man this is better than Springsteen's last album...
uh... |
I definately think he will win the next leg, but it really is a tall order to get the last. Friggin great horse! Finally!! a 2 yr. Juvi winner gets it done!

Long road ahead. Lets see if he is ok first |
I don't see his winning the Preakness as a "definate".

From a outsiders point of view that was a very impressive win you would hope there is some other horse in the wings that could beat him as after that race none of the others even came close. I would have to back him again after that he made the rest of the pack look 2nd rate:eek: For me it wasnt the fact he won but the way he won !! He never looked like losing that race. |

I'll have to wait and see what the figs turn out like (and find out who else is running in the Preakness) before I declare any horse a triple crown winner. I'd love to see one in my lifetime, though...
|
I would take Hard Spun over SS in the Preakness especially if he runs like he did today.
If the race was 1 1/8 Hard Spun would have won |

This is the toughest race to get right...I don't NEED multiple threads...I got this one...right! :) |
hell if they ran at 6F he would have run too..........
I would not be surprised if HS was done for the triple crown..that effort has probably taken it's toll..Larry comes from the Lukas school of recking good horses. SS has a good chance at the Triple.... |
I will be wearing my dunce cap tomorrow, this horse was so obvious yet I did not see it. Boy this game really needs a champion. Go Street Sense !!!!:)
|
Only four horses were "finishing" the race, the "superfecta" finishers...NONE of the others were anywhere...NO excuse for any of them! If anyone is beating him...it would be the 2nd or 3rd horse & maybe a "new shooter".
Forget five through twenty.... |

Street Sense took the lead at about 1 1/8 miles, and led for the length of the stretch. The Preakness is only 100 yards shorter than the Derby. |

hope you and "Rand" had just as good day! :) |

hard spun ran beautifully, i was yelling for him to relax a bit! he did ok, just a shame that he lost. but if he was going to lose, i knew it would be to that guy. street sense is good--i don't get the overpowering sense from him that i have from past winners-but his derby was a good race, can't take a thing away from him. top two are definitely good horses. curlins lack of seasoning imo contributed to his finishing back, but his raw talent got him third. look for more from him in future, today only being his fourth run ever.

Boils down to whether or not you saw Street Sense's race today as his absolute best or not. I think any regression or lack of fitness will knock him out and I think one or the other is likely to happen. |
i do know that hard spun doesn't make it a habit to lose. i really think he could turn the tables in a couple weeks. but then again, less horses, slightly shorter...does curlin make his presence known?
gonna be a long two weeks. |

preakness is a whole new ball game. anything can happen. no two races are run the same way.
|
did someone hit the exacta?
btw Zanjero had plenty of excuses he checked repeatedly and running 3rd would have given me the trifecta 2 times... so ofcourse he couldn't get there ofcourse the only one that was moving was Street Sense everyone else was just playing pinball. I never saw the blanket of roses on SS did he get warm and have to be cooled off? |
Let's just remember the Preakness is now the race for new shooters and Maryland wannabes...I don't think any of us can be certain we will see Hard Spun or Curlin in Baltimore. I know Pletcher has already ruled all five of his entries that went today out.
No certainity, but I'm just saying, the middle jewel might not be as big a contest and people are thinking. Now the Belmont...:) |

Best runner there for sure but would it have gotten past all the other horses hard to say  |

If Afleet Alex had not found a way to stay up....Giacomo would have taken the Preakness by DQ.
A horse who finished 3rd beaten 7 or more lengths has never come so close to winning a triple crown race. |
