What Happen To All The Scat Daddy Backers ???

Now that everyone is off his bandwagon, its time for me to jump on him. This is Pletchers Derby. After seeing his horses run 1-2 in the Oaks, thats all I need to see.Thats all I read and hear is Street Sense.Well,at that price you can have him.Love the fact that last years winner came from the Florida Derby.

1) Scat Daddy
2) Any Given Saturday
3) Sam P
4) NoBiz Like Shobiz

Pletcher = Winner,Exacta,Trifecta, :D :D :D

Scat Daddy,I have done nothing but win ????????

dellinger63 05-05-2007 07:27 AM

Oh, I doubt Cajun jumped off so you do have company.

Can't leave him now. :p

I'm faithful, what can I say?

Storm Cadet 05-05-2007 08:05 AM

I'm playing him straight win and ex boxes, along with others.

brianwspencer 05-05-2007 09:17 AM

I :gulp: included him in my pick-4 and my trifectas after two months of hating him.

now i'm afraid of him.

Its amazing that once everyone hear about the bar shoes that Scat daddy was wearing, they thought there was hoof issues.Ha-Ha,a better price for me.They dont understand he races with traditional shoes. He has trained in bar shoes for over a year.:D

2Hot4TV 05-05-2007 09:37 AM

Bar shoe = toss

2Hot4TV 05-05-2007 09:40 AM

To ask a horse to perform at the top level with foot problems is against the %. You don't keep changing shoes unless you have a problem.

I'm keying him in one of my tri tix for sure. Love the horse, and think the traditional derby trail route that he and No Biz have taken is a proven, solid formula. Agree as well that the "training in bar shoes angle" is a non-issue, and anyone that has taken the time to actually follow the horse knows this.

$1 Tri box

Scat Daddy
No Biz
Hard Spun
AGS
and probably Dominican or Cowtown Cat

I just returned from a press briefing with Todd Pletcher. There's a lot of talk floating around the Media Center here at Churchill Downs about the use of bar shoes on Scat Daddy.

I asked Pletcher this question: "Could you clarifiy the usage of bar shoes on Scat Daddy in training versus racing; are there hoof issues; and what type of shoes will he wear on Saturday?"

Pletcher said that Scat Daddy will be wearing traditional Queen's Plates on the front and quarter-inch bends on the back on Saturday; that he's trained in bar shoes since last summer but has raced wearing traditional shoes.

Pletcher said that his blacksmith recommended using bar shoes for training purposes because the horse has prominent bars in his feet. The "bars" of the foot are made of very hard horn material. The wall, bars and frog are the weight-bearing structures of the foot.

Bar shoes are only used to hold a bad hoof together. I'm not telling you not to be him, But based on % of horses that use bar shoes and winning I will bet else where.

Oh, Ok. Thanks for clearing that up

The public has hammered him down, I think way below his worth....probably responding to the "cool name" reason for selecting a horse.

As a horse owner,I wont debate that with him.He is pretty sure of himself on that.I guess I learned something differant today. Not to talk to these type of people.

pgardn 05-05-2007 03:37 PM

The Scat Daddy backers appear to be the teeming millions. Where have they gone? Where did they come from? I like the horse but I never expected 6-1 at any time.

I'm completely shocked as well. Thought Curlin would go up and Scat Daddy. But he has a ton of support....Maybe they know something we don't

So did Nobiz and Great Hunter, though... oh well. I just hope he comes out of the race OK to see another day. I know they ran him with a quarter crack. :(

Storm Cadet 05-05-2007 06:55 PM

Note to self: Don't ever put bar shoes on any of my athletes:eek:

Not saying it would have helped, but he should have drew inside, dammit!

I'm so sad that he ran so poorly. :o

At least my 2nd and 3rd place horses ran 1-2, so I have SOME dignity left. LOL
