Street Sense Not For Me....
Is there anyone else who is going to leave him off their tickets on Saturday?
I just don't see him doing much when it is time to do it. Isn't the gamble whether Nafzger has him primed for this Saturday? I haven't seen anything from him this year that makes him stand out from any others. A nose victory over an over-rated Pletcher horse who will run 10th in the Derby, and a nose defeat by a rapidly improving animal who was running in his first "big" race. Is the consensus that he will just improve by 5-10 lengths just because he is back at Churchill where he won the Juvenile? What has this horse done to separate himself this year? Work out at Churchill last week in .58? |

I love Street Sense... He proved he liked this track and doesn't like Keenland. I expect a big race from this one
|
I don't think he disliked Keeneland.
I think he popped a huge effort in the BC and isn't any better than the rest of the crop. One impressive victory at two, two preps where he didn't stand out, and a few workouts at churchill and he will be the favorite. Doesn't add up to me. I'm leaving him off. And AGS doesn't have a shot in my opinion. Circular Quay is the one. |

I don't see how someone can bash Street Sense's 2007 on the one hand then pick a horse who hasn't run since the Fillmore administration to win the race on Saturday.
|
I wont not leave Street Sense off my ticket, damn i wont even have him out of the Top 2
Guys do not leave this horse off your tickets. He ran pretty good and the horse loves CD. As of this moment my choice for the Winner!!!! |

SS will be a tick lower than Curlin when those prices pop up in my opinion. People will get off of Curlin this week. |

Hard Spun, Cowtown Cat, etc... will keep him company and pump and sweat out tough fractions I think |
I'm a huge CQ fan, but my head keeps telling me to go with Street Sense. Seeing his work from last week was almost jaw dropping. The horse moves so well, and he'll be sure to handle Churchill well, as usual.
His Tampa effort was brilliant off the layoff (track record), and I'm completely willing to throw out the Bluegrass with those fractions (and he still only lost by a nose). I just can't seem him running a dud, and that's being objective as possible. |
I think Street Sense is an include. I'm a little biased. I bet him in the Juvenile and he doesn't owe me any money. You gotta dance with the one that brung ya mentality.
Really Street Sense is coming into the Derby like he came into the Juvenile. The only difference is Circular Quay and Great Hunter won't complete the trifecta still waiting for the draw to study the race but Street Sense is going to absolutely be on my ticket |
The fact that Street Sense showed he can throw it down--remember the battle down the lane with AGS--and is one of the few horses with triple digit Beyer's, is training well and looks like a monster according to eyewitnesses... makes him a STRONG and legitimate contender.

I got about 7 or 8 horses for 4 spots.
All I can hope is that 1 or 2 of them draw those great 17,18,19,20 spots and make my job a little easier |

If you are going deep and betting TRIs and Supers, leaving SS off seems like a poor move to me. It is at least possible that he is quite simply the best horse in this crop on dirt. |
SS's two impressive victories have been the result of an open rail - with 20 gunning, I'm not going to count on him getting the rail....I liked him until watching the major preps...in my opinion he has benefited from perfect trips that will simply not exist on Saturday...

Sorry - I was not talking about the Bluegrass as he did not win, get the rail or have a perfect trip....

The pace setup will be good, and Circular Quay will eat it up in my opinion. We will see how wrong I am on Saturday though. I might be on here eating crow for hours and laughing at how stupid I was. But I'm not wavering until then. I think Street Sense is a toss. |

Dominican outran him... |
I am leaving him off. I just haven't seen from him what I want to see. I wouldn't be totally surprised to have him win and if it does happen, he'll beat me. But u have to take a stand somewhere and I'm taking mine against him.

This is sorta out of line now, but why wont they add blinkers to SS?
|
"But SS wasn't fully cranked in the Bluegrass..." I read this elsewhere, I think its crap, if he wasn't cranked then Borel must have been as he cracked him a dozen times down the stretch...if he was or is the best, he should have overcome any adversity and won. Leave him off all, probably not...but looking elsewhere on top.

It's doubtfull he'll be on the top of any of my tickets. Can't see him catching Curlin. He won't get a dream rail trip and he didn't show much in the Bluegrass.

does anyone here remember the lanes end breeders futurity? 3 weeks prior to the BC juvy...SS made the lead and then was caught, only to absolutly demolish the rest of his generation in the BC. anyone who thinks a horse is "cranked" every race is insane and has never been around a racehorse. by the way did Unbridled win the Bluegrass? huummmmmm
|
Throwout the Polycrack races and you've got a mean sob.

Dominican got him, but I don't think SS was cranked for the Bluegrass. Coming out of a HUGE battle with AGS, why would you want to run him as hard as you can, knowing the Derby is the true goal. I don't know if he will win, but leaving him off all your tickets isn't a wise choise. SS will be on all my tickets. |

He outran him to the finish line of the race. |
