Arlington Poly opens Wednesday morning

I might be getting up early and cruising over there, check this new shindig out. ON ANOTHER note, Arlington is adding two new wagers and a change

1) Pick Four CARRYOVER pools if no one has 4 of 4

2) 50k Guaranteed Pick Six on Saturdays, if no one hits it, it carrys to the following Saturday

3) JOCKEY CHALLENGE. Pari-mutuel pool on 5 specific days where you can bet on a jockey and who has the greatest mutual payouts for WPS.

I am a huge fan of 1 and 2, could care less about 3.

PICK SIX for Arlington, oh man.....

trackside will never be the same.....

Scav 04-24-2007 07:38 PM

Trackside is the OTB, I should go over there during an Arlington race so all of DT can see me on the far turn as you can sit the rail their, pretty cool experience

Scav 04-24-2007 07:40 PM

I absolutely LOVE the pick six idea for Arlington. At least they are smart about it and not try and offer it during the week when all the old people are there betting 10 cent supers to kill time.

I have heard whispers that they are expecting big things because of this polycrap.

I could care less what they are running on, give me a tote board, some cash, and an amtote and I am ready to rock and roll

I bet when you were a kid...and your Mom read you the tale about the race between the Tortoise and the Hare....you asked her for odds, didn't you??

Bringing the Pick 6 back at AP is good since they did rid of it when Steve Sexton was president. Only having it on Saturday is good. They may expand to Sunday later in the season. We won't see a 1 million carryover.

JJP 04-24-2007 07:46 PM

Scav-

I checked it out last weekend. We'll see how it goes. Personally, I think way too may tracks have rushed into it (i.e. ALL the SoCal tracks) but Turfway needed to do something and Arlington had TONS of negative publicity last year w/the breakdowns. The local media was relentless in pounding them over it.

I do think they will get some more KY shippers as there's going to be a load of horses who ran well over the Poly at Kee and TP so look for bigger field sizes. Arlington has always been one of the more closer-friendly tracks so this will be nothing like the Keeneland transformation.

I actually walked right on it the other day on the backstretch when they were finishing up, it is sticky as hell, that PAM thing that Chuck was talking about is perfect. I grabbed a handful and had to wash my hands to get what felt like grease off.

I believe that Pletcher is going to have a string there this year because he dropped a string on the east coast, but I could be wrong

While I am pissed about losing everything I know about Arlington since I was 12 (16 years of Arlington) I think this is a great thing for us Arlington players and think it could put Arlington back into the major player scene, like it was way back in the day. All we need is the horses because we have the greatest facility built in the US, arguably the greatest turf course, and the atmosphere to explode.

He is off his rocker, it is nice, and I love how they card all turf races, but he is smoking too much wacky to think it is better then the Duchessois approved lawn

The class of racing is obviously lacking at AP, but the facility and the turf course are pretty much unmatched by any facility in the country.

What do you mean drop? He has enough horses to have a string at every track.

This site gives a list of all his horses and what tracks they are at.
It shows that he currently has 5 bedded down at Arlington. It shows a
active horse list.

Try this

Sorry if it doesn't work. Graham Motion has a site like this and it works fine,

working your way down the list my friend...

Colonial kicks ass...

Coach Pants 04-24-2007 08:21 PM

I don't understand why the tracks just can't add more cushion for the dirt courses. I picked up some poly at Keeneland and it had what looked like colored sprinkles that kids put on their ice cream. It just seems like a big con deal to me. I believe one of the main reasons why breakdowns were so high is because the majority of horses were doped up on drugs that made them feel no pain.

But hey, wtf do I know? It's obvious the powers that be have the right answers.

Really? I knew he was going to AP because he asked my friends rider to go there to ride for him.

Scav 04-24-2007 08:27 PM

My guess is that DeCarlo would come here and ride for him????

Maybe if Mena came here he would use him as he used him at Turfway

I doubt he would use anyone from the Illinois colony unless it was Guidry and he will be real selective with his rides this meet I am guessing

I was on the backstrecth the other day and asked a trainer I knew he said he didn't think he was going have a division, but last year he showed up a couple weeks late. I guess we will wait and see

This from a press release I got

Scace and Pearson will be joining the tough cast of Delaware Park regulars which include Scott Lake, Steve Klesaris, Tim Ritchey, Michael Gorham, Anthony Dutrow, J. Larry Jones, Michael Pino, Howard Wolfendale, Jonathan Sheppard, Michael Matz, and H. Graham Motion, and Mike Zwiesler.
