YOUBET Contest

So tomorrow is the first day of the Youbet Contest. Anybody " taking me on "?

The manditory races are Keeneland 4th and 8th, Oaklawn 9th and 11th, and Santa Anita 6th and 9th. You also choose six from those three tracks ( all six can be from one of them....you choose ).

Since you have to be a Youbet customer to participate, if people want to play it here for fun, someone start a thread in the Selections room. To make it fair ALL picks have to be posted by 1pm eastern time. If you are playing Santa Anita and want to offer a few alternate selections in case of late scratches that is obviously fine.

I hope some people from here are playing at Youbet.....and I hope you crush me!

Not really....but I won't mind.

ArlJim78 04-13-2007 11:27 PM

I'll be giving it a crack. Contests are not usually anything that would interest me, however, this one offers huge potential bragging rights in the event I get hot.:) not to mention cash rewards as well.

I expect others will also be playing, scav's, PG1985, etc.

blackthroatedwind 04-13-2007 11:29 PM

Well, at least now I know I can't possibly be better than fourth.

I'm taking a swing at topping you though admittedly it's a tough go given my central focus on a daily basis has a definite East Coast bias (Keeneland presently); over the years I've dabbled at OP with little success; when I have been I've felt more like the proverbial blind hog finding an occasional acorn as opposed to chalking it up to having any confident handle of racing at the track. Good luck!

We're in the same boat.

ArlJim78 04-13-2007 11:50 PM

who chose the tracks? I was happy to see that AQU was not one of them.

People at Youbet.

I'm actually kind of enjoying looking at races I normally wouldn't.

docicu3 04-14-2007 12:45 AM

I'll take a shot at home as for what ever reason YOUBET is the only major betting service that doesn't service MAC or Apple products so my Intel Macbook cannot access the service.......

What 3 tracks are on the YOUBET list this week???

DrD

.......and you have to get Mathew involved here !!!!

Dunbar 04-14-2007 07:16 AM

It looks like it's not set up to take contest bets this early. I was putting in a pick-bet for the 6th at SA, but it didn't give me the "enter this wager in contest?" box to check off. I'll try again later.

do you use wager pad pro?

I just made an attempt to wager and a little box showed up in the lower right corner, prompting you to check it if it was for the contest.

Weird, Jim! I just did the exact same thing again, and the little box was right there. Maybe they started taking Contest bets at 8:30? It's also not impossible that I was looking for the box below the submit button, and somehow missed it above the button! (pathetic, but not impossible! ;>)

XIIPointStables 04-14-2007 09:09 AM

This will be my first contest try as well. Good luck to all.

Scav 04-14-2007 10:32 AM

Not playing, I have too much going on, might take him down next weekend.

I am surprised they are taking Keeneland as a contest track because YB's relationship has dwindled with them, most likely directly related to TVG having exculsive rights or whatever. They offer ZERO YB points for wagering on Keeneland. That obviously doesn't stop me from wagering but that is always a sign that YB is getting squeezed from someone.

blackthroatedwind 04-14-2007 12:14 PM

Well, at least I won't get shut out, as Mike's Honey Bunny in the first at Oaklawn was my first pick.

I actually bet her as well. She had a monsterously tough trip last time.

fpsoxfan 04-14-2007 12:53 PM

I need a little help/advice

I entered a Handicapping contest on youbet.net Right now I'm in first.
My bet was a $50 double at Aqueduct 2,6/2,4 It hit and right now I have a net profit of 2,250 with a ROI of 1125.00% Do I still have to bet or do I sit chilly??? I'm clueless. Help!!!!

ArlJim78 04-14-2007 12:55 PM

BAM!!!!

I used the 12 at Keeneland in the contest for my first alternate choice.

got a big pick four going forward as well.

XIIPointStables 04-14-2007 12:56 PM

Went with the 10 there in the 2nd as my first contest wager.

James Graham was actively looking for traffic I believe. By the time he got the horse clear, it was too late and he could only get 3rd.

0-1.

fpsoxfan 04-14-2007 12:56 PM

Also had it

I looked over the PP's just now and had a feeling she might have....nice job.

Speed and fade on poly the start before, and a 2nd to Get Ready Bertie before that.

Good job. I bet a little on that horse to win....only because a friend of mine liked him. I never even handicapped the race. I didn't play that race in the contest.

The Youbet contest we are talking about is win-place only and involves ONLY Oaklawn, Keeneland and Santa Anita.

Cool. I assumed there was another contest.

It is actually a neat idea, which Youbet pulled from the poker sites. On the poker sites, you could play with fake money to help learn the way of the online poker world. Youbet.net allows you to do that also, and for someone that doesn't know how to bet, it is risk free.....

fpsoxfan 04-14-2007 01:13 PM

Youbet.net

Yeah..it's a free site with the option to play for real. I do both. Sometimes its fun (when your bankroll is down) to do mythical wagers just to keep your handicapping prowess up do date.

I would sit chilly by the way and see what happens, with that return, it will be hard, I have seen better numbers, but you personally won't be able to improve that, unless you hit another monsterous ticket

XIIPointStables 04-14-2007 02:12 PM

I'm sure I'm not alone, but used Stream Cat in R4 at Kee, the 1st of the mandatory races.

Generous $20.40 for the $2 exacta.

Dunbar 04-14-2007 05:33 PM

4 races left, and I'm still $1.80 behind btWIND!

--Dunbar

ArlJim78 04-14-2007 06:03 PM

i'm in 126th place with $9 net.

still four bullets remaining in the holster.

heh heh! You do have to laugh at a day like today.

Curlin bought you some breathing room, increasing your lead to $4.40 over me. But I stormed back with Blue Stellar in the 9th at SA, and now hold a $6.20 lead going into the last race, the 10th at SA. You've got the 11 and I've got the 5. You could cut the tension with a knife.

Go get 'em, Jim. I'm in 228th place with an ROI of -48.63%. Argh.

Hard to believe that was good enough to be in the top 40%!

--Dunbar

ArlJim78 04-14-2007 07:13 PM

I have got the 10 in the last race, maybe i can add to my awesome tally.
