Boy Showing Up was AWESOME. I was so totally wrong about this horse. Looks like all the talk was well worth it. Great job to all who wagered on him.

Pointg5 06-24-2006 04:48 PM

I wasn't going to play the race and then I saw 25-1 on Kip, so I put in a small win bet on him, what a monster race Kip De Ville ran, he looked like one of those European rabbits only he looked like he did it easy and wasn't being urged through it. I tell you what that was a mind blowing race by Kip, I really don't know how to describe it, absolutely flying and he looks like he was gliding along, they need to harness that speed to be effective at a distance, but great race from him.

Scav 06-24-2006 04:48 PM

What was the results of this race?

Betsy 06-24-2006 04:50 PM

Did Kip Deville really steal off to a 16 length lead? I'm sure the announcer was wrong -anyway, holy cow. Poor Kip - he really did run a stunning race, but he ended up setting up for Showing Up........

Pointg5 06-24-2006 04:50 PM

Showing up won, Kip held on for 2nd, don't know who ran 3rd, but Kip ran 22.5 45 108.4

oracle80 06-24-2006 04:51 PM

You gotta see it to understand how awesome Kip Deville was!!!! Words cant describe it. I know one guy (bold ruler) who trashed the horse up and down who just blew the tri and exacta because of him. Went out to a 15 length lead from the 14 hole and ran 6F in 1:08:4 and still held 2nd. Trust me, Showing Up wants no part of Kip in a rematch with a real jock on his back. Hes the story of this race, and will get more attention the winner. Go Between was 3rd, delighting those who used him in the trifecta!!!!!!!!

Go Between got 3rd

Yes KIP did run off to a 16 length lead. He ran a HUGE race.

Scav 06-24-2006 04:52 PM

Couldn't see the race, can't get results, who got third?

Keep your petty jealousy to yourself. I just made a few grand and my friend just cleared over $25K. Dutrow's horse is another Sinister Minister. Showing Up is a future star. A star, just like Barbaro.

The horse that ran huge was the winner. He reeled that horse in and blew by him.

Come on Bold, good for you to win, but when's the last time you've seen a turf horse blow threw those fractions and still hold on, my god, if Showing Up didn't win there he should hang it up. That was one of the most impressive races on the Turf I have seen in a long time and he was gliding along.

LOL!! HA HA HA HA !!! Tri paid 636 for a buck!!! How many times you have that? You have teh exacta? And I hate to break this to you but no way is Showing Up better than Kip!!! And everyoen knows it!! A yound inexperienced jockey who had teh 14 hole just set the fastest splits in track history for a route race(thats a fact, noone at Clonial had ever broken 1:09 for 6 in a route race) on a rdiciulous lead of 16 lengths and still held 2nd. Good luck next time , you will need it.
WHy don't you bash IEAH some more huh? How many times you have that exacta and tri? LOL!!!!

SO I guess you didnt have the tri huh? Geez thats a shame!!! How come all the guys who arent as might as you seem to keep cashing IRS tickets and you don't? Keying Go Between to get in the tri appears to have been teh right concept, ah well, what do I know?!! LOL!!!
Sorry about that tri and exacta bro. Mayeb next time.

Betsy 06-24-2006 05:00 PM

Showing Up has every right to like the turf (his sire was a stakes winner on it) and he does have a turf stride. He ran a very good race, but he was supposed to reel in Kip after Kip set those incredible fractions; he was a dead tired horse, and understandably so. No knocks on the winner, though - it's just hard to quantify how good that performance was simply because the 2nd place finisher ran out of his mind.

Gander 06-24-2006 05:01 PM

What the heck happened to the rest of the closers? Rock Lobster should have been flying late. I thought Go Between was the winner on the far turn and maybe Lobster would get 2nd.

sumitas 06-24-2006 05:04 PM

i guess Showing Up was a $60k purchase as a 2 yr old. good buy.

Great buy. Horse will earn close to $2M alone this year. If he wins the bonus, that is $5M.

Pointg5 06-24-2006 05:09 PM

I can't wait until that next race, good for Kev that he saw it live, he's had some bad luck, but I bet he had a good day seeing that race live. This next race will get alot of talk on here and he'll get to see it in person...

What a jealous prick. Showing up wants no part of Kip? His real jock. The longer they go the begin the winning distance. Your such a big man, right here Oracle, lets have somebody here hold the money, and I will put up any amount you want in the next head to head. Big Talker-Oracle. Your horse lost. Period. Uncontested lead and he still got blown away.

sumitas 06-24-2006 05:10 PM

yeah, he may stay on the turf now.

and Strategic Mission, his sire, may become hot. Chester House passed a couple of years ago. that son of Mr Prospector had an abbreviated stud career after impressing on the turf. So Strategic Mission, a turf star in his own right and son of Mr Prospector, could be filling a big void now.

Gander 06-24-2006 05:12 PM

Kev didnt see the race live, he had a B Day party to go to and caught a few races earlier on at OTB. Kev will be better than ever and hopefully make it up to Toga the weekend of the Travers.

Nice score both for Bold Ruler on the crush WPS and Oracle on the tri. Wish I had any part of that!

That sucks, but I am sure he'll get to see the next one.

Gander,

Ran outside today for the first time in about 2 months, my knee feels better and I am ready to roll...

Yeah, the only differnce is I gave my picks out before the race and bet with my own money. LOL.

Gander 06-24-2006 05:15 PM

Point-

Good for you, bet you it felt good. I was running very well up until 3 weeks ago then came down with a summer flu and then my achilles started up again. I got 4 runs in this week and starting to feel very good again.

Scurlogue Champ 06-24-2006 05:38 PM

Showing Up won the race didn't he? Why is everyone gloating about Kip Deville?

KD is a nice horse. Showing Up reeled him in and blew by him. KD is not in Showing Up's league. I was told Showing Up was about just as good as Barbaro on the turf, and it looks like they were right. First race on the turf and only his 5th career race. SU is the goods.

KD ran ok. It is Oracle trying to make him into something great. He ran a nice race but Showing Up was tons the better horse. Wasn't even close. They stretch out a little more in the next and the speedy KD will die again and SU will win by 7 or 8. They are not in the same league.

Where is Oracles tri? Or was it in his head but not posted again? :p

Exactly! Why is it so hard sometimes for people to acknowledge what should be blatantly obvious? Showing Up really showed up again and proved himself to be a budding turf star, and Kip Deville displayed devasting speed.

BTW, remember who was the original Showing Up fanatic, King o Turfway!!

Lets not forget that Showing Up is no Barbaro though. The real Showing Up fanatic is Virtue on Finalturn. He has been all over the horse forever. I love Showing Up but he isn't the second coming of Secretariat. He is clearly the best 3yr old turf horse though. He squeezed my Sweetnorthernsaint in the derby too, which didn't make me too happy.

ArlJim...you just blew your cover...KING OF TURFWAY!!!
How are things going at Bowling Green with your "study"?

I always thought you were one burger short of a "happy meal"...now you've proven it.

Agreed. I couldnt seperate the two of em now. One had a great jock and the one hole and got to sit behind a moron who went out to a 17 length lead and had to break from the 14 hole. teh fact that he still dug in to hold 2nd is blowing my mind right now. I couldnt really seperate them. But I can just about gurantee you will see a different jock on him next time!!!

Virtue is not Kingofturfway. Kingofturfway lived in KY. He suckered a Barbaro hat out of my friend. Virtue has something to do with Strategic Mission.

Strategic Mission is "the Knack". A one hit wonder. Last time I checked he had sired two winners, this horse and a horse from Puerto Rico that they were trying to peddle on the internet(I'm not kidding). Strategic Mission= My Sharona.

Showing Up is his only good horse, so I don't see that happening.

Go argue with him at finalturn. I respect the guy for sticking with him from the beginning and I wished I owned some Strategic Missions. Tagg owns and trains Stratonic out of Strategic Mission. Lets see how he runs.
