4/4: Aqueduct Main Opener

Came agoinizingly close to a terrific score at Tampa Tuesday as Longshot Exotic player So Bling Bling fails to hang on to third in the Oldsmar nightcap. Earlier, the P4 slipped away when Forever Jamie was wiped out at the start of a DQ-affected 7th. Second choice candidates won the other three quad tests. Interesting afternoon...

The Aqueduct Main opens today at Ozone Park in advance of Saturday's Wood Memorial Card, and there is a chance that grass racing returns to NY this weekend as well. As is the tradition, here's the whole opening day sequence...

Steve,

Glad to see you like D Money in 3rd. I went through PP's last night and liked him a lot at 8-1. Especially returning to what I think is his preferred distance. As long as he gets some pace to close into I think he has a good shot.

Have to admit he is a sentimental favorite of mine, after my brother and I made a mint on him in his 2 starts at Saratoga last summer.

Think I will take a shot at early pick4 with him as single.

2,3,4 / 1 / 1,3,6 / 6,8,9 - $27

Good Luck Today

Pat

STEVE: I just wonder what do you think of Kong´s Revenge :
He comes with Lasix 1th time, good patron of workouts, some of them SHARPS. Run not bad in THe Futurity. From a good Sire with blood of the fast Dixieland.
¿How come you didnt used in you Picks?

IMO he's not fast enough with these and his 3-1 ML is a joke. That said I'd probably back Memphis Mon and his 5-1 ML

Thx Dell. G/L today!!

Two things....

D Money. Have you taken a good look at the make-up of this race? There is very little speed which works directly into the hands of the mediocre favorite Precise Alloy. All things being equal only stalker He's a Lumberjack will be in a favorable enough position to possibly defeat the favorite and win the race. How anyone could like a deep closer like D Money considering today's race dynamics is beyond me.

Kong's Revenge.....he was scratched AT THE GATE two weeks ago. No thanks.

I agree that if pace does not materialize, D Money is done for.

However, I didn't necessarily see Precise Alloy as lone speed in here. I would think #6 Doctor Freud will be contesting pace on cutback in dist. Also #7 He's a Lumberjack has showed speed in some previous 7F races and I think Belly Rub could get caught up as well. If that Happens, I think D money is legit at a price.

That was my rationale. If Precise alloy sets soft uncontested fractions, I agree D Money is not a winner.

blackthroatedwind 04-04-2007 11:33 AM

I have no argument that D Money is one of the three best horses in the race at the very least. However, I do not see the pace you are suggesting materializing.

We shall see.

whodey17 04-04-2007 12:26 PM

I LOVE race 2. Prob wont hit it, but it is a nice looking race. Look at all the horses who burned money as the fav and didnt produce. This also could be one of the slowest races of the meet at this distance. Monetary Policy had every chance to win the last time out but he didnt switch leads and didnt get by. Tsuris is just a plodder in my mind and RD gets off this one. Prob wont get in the money today. I like a long shot play The Vin Man the 1 horse. Gets the rail, should go to the lead and prob could wire this field. Forgot to list my bet. I dont want to get accussed of red boarding. My play is $50 ATB on the 1 The Vin Man.

blackthroatedwind 04-04-2007 12:29 PM

What about The Vin Man's one race makes him the speed here? He wasn't close at a mile.

Tsuris got it done. Surprised me a little. I didnt think he could get it done. But he liked the track and looked good coming for home. Tough trip for the 1 horse. Thought he might show a little more speed today, but maybe we will get them next time.

Kasept 04-04-2007 12:41 PM

Sure would have liked to see 'Chaldean' get past Thor.. Helped the Tri ($160.00) but would have really JUICED it second... Gave us a good run though at 17-1...

Abraaj is an obvious threat. The only other one who I'd give an outside ( far outside ) look to is Lemon Drop King. And if Kong's Revenge gets this, he'll do it without me backing him.

And I think Kasept's got the right top three in the 1st today. Too bad Golden Gator didn't scratch today, because I like the other two betting interests better. Fairly Crafty doesn't concern me in the least. I feel like I'm forced to include the 2 entry in my exbox. So you know I want 1-8 or 8-1 here.

Good luck everyone.

I too like the looks of Memphis Mon and Lemon Drop King. We shall see.

blackthroatedwind 04-04-2007 12:47 PM

What was tough about the Vin Man's trip?

Antitrust32 04-04-2007 12:59 PM

man i really hope they scratch funny boy in this slop. slop is not good for a horse who has had issues before.. :(

Kasept 04-04-2007 01:01 PM

Yikes  Belly Rub gives 'em the slip..

D Money didn't quite get his set up. Could have been worse, at least saver Ex bailed me out.

I'll assume part owner of Belly Rub 'Alvin Akman' is the Alvin Akman who is the head of the Maryland Racing Commission..

blackthroatedwind 04-04-2007 01:49 PM

Not that I am a big fan of this horse but if anyone cares Hapsburg is running as a gelding for the first time today in the 5th race.

Antitrust32 04-04-2007 01:57 PM

wow steve... way to give out the straight super in the 5th (dunno if they have super bet, but still!)... awesome

8-9-6= $226 (for $2)

-bt-

pmacdaddy 04-04-2007 02:10 PM

Awesome Steve!

I couldn't resist boxing those 4 in Tri when I saw you liked 37-1 shot...

Kasept 04-04-2007 02:30 PM

Thanks guys.. and gal.. A second scratch of Too Drunk Too Call killed off Superfecta availability under the ridiculous NYRWB rules.. Glad some caught the Tri...

As Ed Koch used to say, "How'm I doin'?"

cassie 04-04-2007 02:32 PM

Those stewards in NY keep amazing me. Send them some flowers for
keeping your horse up. The #5 lost all chance after being CRUSHED by
the #6. It's nice to have three blind men in the stewards booth.

Great job, Steve! Wish I could play some of these races at work...

pointman 04-04-2007 03:07 PM

Nice job Steve. I wish I had seen you had selections up earlier, would have had to made an OTB run from work. I hope you will put up selections for the Big A Saturday since I am going there for the Wood with Sumwon owners and friends. Stay hot!

pmacdaddy 04-04-2007 03:08 PM

Oh Golly, he's hot today...

Nice single in 7th. Let's hope for some value in last two legs of pk4.

pointman 04-04-2007 03:11 PM

Do I need to make an OTB run now?

MisterB 04-04-2007 03:17 PM

Nice going, to bad I'm out of the loop today.:(

Kasept 04-04-2007 03:41 PM

Thanks team.. Let's get this last leg home..

Antitrust32 04-04-2007 03:54 PM
