Just wished they let the local caddie's still be the only one's to work

Golf Digest had a great piece about Carl Jackson this month (crenshaw's caddie). He was on Player's bag at one point in the early 70's. When he showed up the next year , Jackson Stephens, a big Augusta membertold him to take an ameatur. Jackson relented and a few years later ended up on Crenshaw's bag - the rest is history.

So even though he didn't win with Player, he got 2 wins with gently Ben.
If the course is hard and dry, he still thinks Ben can win.

One guy who won 3 green jackets, Faldo , each one of those I can remeber the other guy screwing up
1)floyd - in the water on 11 in the playoff
2)hoch - the 2 foot putt
3)norman - the 78 in the last round

Faldo played great golf and scopped up 3 green jackets that were thrown away

Martin...that was Faldo's specialty though...wait for the other guy to blink first.

Although Norman choked bad...people forget how PERFECT Faldo played that day. He shot 67...hit 16 greens in regulation and had 15 uphill birdie putts. That my friend is flat incredible on Sunday in a major. Always been a huge fan of Faldo and the way he played the game.

Hey Kev

I love the Masters too. Kinda signifies the kick off of golf season to me. I played last Thurs, Fri and Sun. Didn't do too bad for a hacker like me. Played one of the greatest single holes ever yesterday for me. 470 yd par 5, 15-20 m wind dead in the face. Ripped one about 260 or so down the middle, about 210-215 out to a raised green that sits probably 20 ft higher than I was. I crushed a 5 wood off the dirt (no grass in fairway yet) that hit the front of the green on a fly and settled about 20 ft from the cup. Not too often I get home in 2 on a par 5. Well, didn't sink the eagle put, but was able to 2-putt for the bird. That kinda stuff is what keeps me comming back.

Oh, and  TIGER:cool: all day and twice on Sunday to win this week. He is playing way too well right now. May be one of those 4-5 shot leads going into Sunday that will "Ghost" the rest of the field.

Thanks a bunch my man! Always had a cool vibe with you my dog. We are about the same age, same taste in a lot of stuff. If you ever get a chance to come to Louisville for Derby, or whatever, we definately need to hook up and play golf or hit Churchill or something. It would be good times! Dude, Friday happy hour is a blast!

Well Kevin, my dream begins this Thursday at 4 AM, we'll head down to Augusta to arrive before the gates open at 8 AM. Then what? I think a quick $4-500 in the merchandise tent, maybe the range next? We want to follow one group early to walk the entire course, so who do you recommend? Parings come out this afternoon, looking for a group without too much celebrity status. Probably spend the PM at 12 or 16 hopefully. I am pinching myself, finally get to see the course I have memorized watching TV.

Have I confessed my love for Tiger Woods yet on this board? This man is the most dominant athlete (and I dont want anyone saying golf is not a sport... they play in on espn!!) of my lifetime and probably nobody will get close to this domination for the next 60 years i am on this planet.

Bring on Jack's record!

Oh, does anyone else count US Amature wins as majors like my Dad and I do?

Terry...one of my fellow golf pro buddies called and wants me to go with him tomorrow for the practice round...but can't swing it.

I would think #1 on your list has to be following Seve for a few holes and watch him hit it all over the place. You will be amazed at how good you will feel about your own game after watching him.

Guys I recommend watching..

Sergio....incredible driver of the ball...just close your eyes while he putts.

Bjorn....love his game.

Rollins....solid ball striker....The Rocket.

some guy named Woods is supposed to be there too...up and comer...I think he has some game too.

MinnSkinny 04-03-2007 04:55 PM

Rollins has become my darkhorse. Will watch him for sure. And Seve would be entertaining, good suggestion! Arnie now hits the first ball, just confirmed. Nancie met him once, and she was shook up for a week. I think he does that to the girls, even today, the lucky bas****.

whorstman 04-03-2007 04:57 PM

Soak it all in

I remember 96' PGA at Valhalla. I went to a practice round. I was amazed at the sweet swing by the big easy. The guy is pretty tall, and he looked so fluid w/ his motion. He was with Frank Nobilo and a couple others. It was so freakin' hot and humid it was unreal. They got into a water fight at the last hole. It was really fun to see. They were acting like 3rd graders. I got to see Jack and several other icons of the game. Just take it all in and try and see as much as possible.

Mark Brooks....fluke winner.

brockguy 04-03-2007 05:17 PM

Stenson and Garcia are solid bets at 33-1.. ive put a few sentimental Euro on KJ Choi as well at 150-1. he has done well in the masters before!

Yeah, that was a pretty garbage time PGA. I remember my buddy fell out on a practice round the next day. He drank like 10 draft beers on an empty stomach. Dumbass, 95 degrees and humid as hell. He passed out and had to be treated for heat exhaustion. I clowned him for monthes.

Kev....Stenson..yes. Garcia...NO...NO...NO....

brockguy 04-03-2007 05:29 PM

Kev, What i see happening with Garcia is he'll be nowhere after 3 rounds and then, he'll shoot something crazy on Sunday and finish in a tie for third or fourth. I like Stenson though, he's getting better every time I see him..

btw, one of my friends was wearing a t-shirt with what it says on your avatar at the weekend.. funny!!

or just the opposite with Garcia...play well for 3 rounds...be near the lead going into Sunday....shoot about 40-41 on the front 9 Sunday....play himself out of contention...make a few birdies late to make his round look better than it was...but never have a chance of winning. No brain and no heart when it matters. (See Ryder Cup single record)

Bigsmc 04-03-2007 07:38 PM

This tourney of all tournies has the players that have played well here in the past rise up and play well again.

Check the history and you'll see who will play well this week, regardless of recent form.

Martin...Faldo's scores on Sunday in each of the 3 times he won were 65, 69 and 67. That is the kind of golf it takes to win major championships.

my bookies here have a special. if your player finishes ahead of Woods, you get your money back. Could be interesting!!

Mind boggling for me Kev...as I look back and realize that this is the 10 year anniversary since Tiger won by 12 shots, in his first trip to Augusta as a professional. I am in my 17th year of working in the golf industry and I reflect back on the Pre-Tiger era vs. Tiger era...and it is two different worlds. I should send the guy a thank you note simply for the money he has made me since then. The amount of lessons I have given to new students to the game since he changed that game has been incredible.

You'll go crazy at this Kev, but I live within 10 mins walk of three golf courses, including one very very good one.. yet I dont play golf - its too slow for me at the moment.. maybe when i get older - i do like to bet on it though!!

I, GPK...officially disown my fellow "Kevin"....the words I feel towards him now are not suited for public message boards. Lives 10 minutes from one of the greatest golf courses man has ever been able to step foot on...and this son of a b*tch don't even play the game....

all that aside bro....when can I visit???:D

Your rgiht Kev about his great playing on Sunday, from your perspective he WON those tourneys. THey way i remember them is Hoch missing that short putt, Floyd bogeying the 71st hole after a mental error and then hitting the ball in the drink on 11 in the playoff (can't ever remember Floyd choking that bad). Norman's collapse was something hard to believe. On Thursady he tied the course record with a 63 and the shoots 78 on sunday - A FULL 15 strokes different , almost 1 stroke a hole for a top 3 player at the time.
Faldo's great SUnday rounds seem to get lost in the mix , because of the horror shows created by the guys that lost.

That being said I don't ever forget his wins at the British Open - His win in 1990 at the Old Course was as good a performance in a major as any of the ones I have seen (including Tiger).

SCUDSBROTHER 04-06-2007 11:36 AM

Got Tiger Spray? With all these par 5 holes...Tiger will never be out of it.He can play so poorly, and still be alive. So much the better. If anybody else was spraying like this, they would be so far out of this.

SCUDSBROTHER 04-06-2007 12:07 PM

Damn, had to make a 6 foot putt to save bogey on 9? He gotta get it together, and stay 3 or 4 over.KEV,has he ever won when hitting poorly like this? I think top 5,but not win.Maybe it's the cold weather problem again.

Scuds...the fact he is only 5 shots out of this tournament is amazing. A trained chimp could drive the ball better right now. If he gets any kind of decent swing going tomorrow (which I think he will) he is gonna be very dangerous this weekend.
