Magnificience running today

Bruce Headley's 3 yr old filly goes again today in thr 3rd at Santa Anita.. Was very, very impressive in her maiden romp.. 3 other fillys to beat though.. Who was the horse that ran second to her last time out?? Ran against some stiff competition last 2 if I'm not mistaken..

sundaysilenceforever 04-01-2007 12:22 PM

Was it Chocolate Lava? Going by memory....I might be wrong.

on a suuny day 04-01-2007 12:34 PM

Here is a read on her for today's race

Coach Pants 04-01-2007 03:30 PM

This race sucks ass.

ArlJim78 04-01-2007 03:31 PM

With this tiny field it should set up well for Coco Belle. Magnificience will have to be real good to win.

ArlJim78 04-01-2007 03:34 PM

Well she's good!!!!!!

Spendabuck85 04-01-2007 03:35 PM

She's real good, broke nicely. Impressive win.

GPK 04-01-2007 03:36 PM

I know it was only a 4 horse field...but I loved the way whe moved...switched leads perfectly and once she did that...she pulled away impressively.

Very professional for a 2nd time starter.

Coach Pants 04-01-2007 03:37 PM

Strong workout.

ArlJim78 04-01-2007 03:40 PM

holy cow! 1:14.61

6.5 furlongs? she improved a full second of her first try.

fast filly here.

Coach Pants 04-01-2007 03:40 PM

Is that the Iron Sheik holding the crystal trophy?

Sightseek 04-01-2007 03:41 PM

She's all legs!

Coach Pants 04-01-2007 03:41 PM

Alex Solis is soooo sleeepy.

When she changed leads and pinned her ears alittle more,,,,,,,,,,,,,, She took off like a rocket and went 1:14 for 6 1/2f . Looked impressive to me.

that was the only thing I was looking for as they turned for home...and when she did...you are right...she took off. Granted Coco Belle backing up made it look even better...but still, she looked very professional in her stride.

I'm just glad I was able to feel her legs through the computer screen...that gave me all indications she was fit and ready to run. Nice conformation too...

Alex said that she put herself on the pace and he was just along for the ride.

Coach Pants 04-01-2007 03:48 PM

How many races do you think she'll have in her career? I say no more than 10.

She's going to run in the Oaks? Oh please god make it so. She'll be the biggest underlay in Oaks history.

have no clue...was just being a smartass...

Coach Pants 04-01-2007 03:56 PM

I just see her getting injured. She looks like a sore horse.

Sightseek 04-01-2007 03:57 PM

At this point you could probably say the field for the Oaks will look something like this:

Rags to Riches
Magnificience
Panty Raid
Octave
Cotton Blossom
Christmas Kid
Times' Mistress

Folk was listed as a possible prior to the UAE Derby..not sure on her status now. With the additions of Riches & Magnificience the class of the filly crop this year is looking better than the past two years for the Oaks.

I actually love Lemons! (I don't think she is very good though)

I do think Balance is a really lovely horse, she just didn't run a good race that day.

Actually the La Troienne S G3 on Derby Day might be more reasonable for Magnificience...but it was nice to dream for a moment.

I say the 3 yo filly races at Hollywood are most likely the road Bruce Headly will take. He doesnt like to take his young horses on the road. Arson Squad and the "Cat" horse of his are recent examples of that. Although he did sell a % of the filly before this race. Not sure how much Hill and Dale will try and influence Headley to go for the Ky Oaks. He's quite stubborn, so i see her continuing her career at Hollywood. Time will tell..

Antitrust32 04-01-2007 07:28 PM

oh my goodness what a performance! I cant wait to see her run against rags to riches. those two fillies are awesome. They remind me of lightly raced Excellent Meeting and Silverbulletday. awesome

The Bid 04-01-2007 09:14 PM

My side hurts from laughing.

I would have to agree with you. I don't think there is any chance that she will run in the Ky Oaks. Headley is smarter than that. You don't run a horse in a 1 1/8 mile race coming out of a a 6 1/2 furlong race. I highly doubt she will run in the Oaks.

You gotta get out more often.

Back to the issue at hand, she ran a 109 Beyer.
