alysheba4 03-31-2007 10:08 AM

I'd include Laverock, but he doesn't look like he has acclimatized at all well to Dubai. Quijano doesn't have it - he was a handicapper in Germany (read allowance/optional claiming/minor stakes horse) who never dared try vs. the big boys.

Would be my second choice!

Hickory Hill Hoff 03-31-2007 10:16 AM

All...QUIJANO!!!

brockguy 03-31-2007 10:17 AM

the fact that Pop Rock ran so well over 2m in the melbourne cup puts me off him. Others surely have more speed than him.. Im concerned that Youmzain will get done for pace so might have a saver on Laverock or Vengence..

ArlJim78 03-31-2007 10:21 AM

I'm live to these for PK3's

3 Laverock - $1,061
10 Pop Rock - $142
12 Quijano - $222
13 Youmzain - $306

I don't like Sir Percy here at all. To me he would be a big shocker.

I'm with you on this one. Pedigree Ann better come on here and eat crow if Quijano wins!!!

Charismatic1 03-31-2007 10:31 AM

What's everyone's hassle with Vengeance of Rain? No mentions??? I'm wondering if there's something I don't know about.

XIIPointStables 03-31-2007 10:31 AM

Vengance of Rain seems pretty classy to me. Best last timeform, 1-1 distance.

I've only seen four horses in this field ever run before, so this is a shot in the dark.

I've got no beef with him -- on my first run through the PP's, I liked him best.

There are more than a couple in here who wouldn't surprise me, including that one.

XIIPointStables 03-31-2007 10:37 AM

Rain, Pop Rocks and Host for the exacta.

Pletcher and JV are not getting shutout, that we know.

Danzig 03-31-2007 10:38 AM

i like host, but not so sure that pletcher is a given. he's had his good days, but some not so good as well.

would like to see honey ryder get a board finish.

Makybe Diva, 3-time winner of the Melbourne Cup (2 miles) also won a G2 at 7f. Forego won at 7f and 2 miles. Pop Rock just missed at 11f last out. I wouldn't worry about him not having 'enough lick.'

Charismatic1 03-31-2007 10:38 AM

His best distance is 10 furlongs, but he seems fit and in good form...so many are coming off layoffs in here. On that basis, I like he and Pop Rock the most. I'm including Youmzain and the son of my favorite Euro male, Red Rocks. Take luck all.

brianwspencer 03-31-2007 10:40 AM

I'm thinking I'm going to have to put myself on DT hiatus around 130 when the world cup is run, because I can't stand to read about who won before i see it.

poop, how am i going to get through the last four hours of my workday!

Hasn't run at 12f for a long time (May 05). Why? He's been campaigned like a miler who gets a furlong or two further, not a 12f horse. Why?

Oh, I love German horses - been studying German pedigrees for 35 years, nothing I like better than seeing German-breds put it to the hoity-toity US/GB/Ire/Fr-breds. (Star Appeal! Silvano!) But his record in Germany indicates that he wasn't considered even a group-level horse. Now maybe he just loves desert air. We'll see.

Coach Pants 03-31-2007 10:47 AM

I like Laverock due to the connections and the odds. Definitely worth a few dollars.

Pletcher would get bet with a donkey in the race.

Coach Pants 03-31-2007 10:55 AM

I will be shocked if the Pletcher horses hit the board. I'll definitely reevaluate my opinion of his corporation.

Pedigree Ann 03-31-2007 10:59 AM

Vengeance of Rain, Oracle West, photo for third, Sir Percy & Youmzain

US horses trailed in at tail

Charismatic1 03-31-2007 11:01 AM

Didn't put enough on him! OH well, Good for VOR, his connections, and Hong Kong racing. All three deserve this big win.

ALostTexan 03-31-2007 11:01 AM

This payout is going to be huge...
