That Golden Shaheen is awful. I know it's hard to round up many four-legged dirt sprinters outside of the U.S., but that's a G3 at Saratoga if I've ever seen one.

i was thinking that earlier, im thinking there are some 3yr olds that would jog in there, also think discreet cat would win that race by about 15 lenghts if he wanted to

Agree, which is why my guy Friendly Island is over there with a big chance to win a ton of loot. He may end up the 3rd choice behind Thor's and BCH.

you're joking I take it. from the US side alone you have the first three finishers from the BC sprint plus a couple other solid types.

Who knows how good the filly is from SA is against this kind, but she is tearing up the place in SAf.

Terrific Challenge also looked real sharp in his Dubai race last month.

No, it's the weakest Golden Shaheen I can remember. Even the first three finishers from the BC Sprint are all coming into this off form.

Friendly island won his return so I don't see him as "off form." It's not as strong as some years when the SoCal invaders own the place but any given race can be weak in a given year. Anyone know who Capt Steve beat?

You're right, Friendly Island isn't off form. My mistake. But Thor's Echo's last race was weak, as were Nightmare Affair's last two.

To The Victory with Take up. Collared him and drew off.

Got $40 dollars and change with him in that last race, he'll be that price again and most likely the highest of the American invaders.
I know some who just loves National Colour, she's my Floyd girl! :)

Hey, with improvement, National Colour looks like she could have a shot to hit the board.

I honestly think that from looking it over, that Friendly Island would be the horse I would peg as the one to beat, unless Thor bounces back.

If Thor is back to his old self, I see him taking this one, and if not -- chalk it up for Island.

Forefathers would be up the track against these, with zero question about it.

forfathers is a very talented sprinter if zito dosent cut him back he will ruin the horse, i dont think he'd be up the track, i think he's be competitive and possibly win, this field is almost horrible in my opinion.

well thats why i said sprinting, and if you go back to his last sprint race it was a huge race, and yes his last race was horrible thats why i also said if they dont cut him back in distance he will be ruined, and since then i was informed that hes being pointed to the kings bishop which i think is a great move

do you consider the hutcheson a route race?

if not, his last sprint race was "huge" for sure. Hugely bad.

Anything Weichong Marwing rides in Dubai is live. He's usually on de Kock horses.

How do you meet a race? That sounds pretty cool. I've seen a lot of races.....but I don't remember ever meeting one.

Sorry, I thought you meant his last sprint race because you said "his last sprint race," I guess I might be arguing semantics.

Zito will be well served to point him to the Breeders' Cup Long Sprint.

EDIT: If you're not aware, I did get a degree in English, so I guess it's my own personal problem to see words for what they mean -- to a fault.

I spoke to him earlier and he was lamenting not running in the Golden Shaheen instead of last weekend. I think his exact words were " how could I have missed this race! "

I just had to chime in here because this thread is funny. Lets see here Forefathers is a very talented sprinter because he ran a huge race in the swale against straight 3 year olds. And he could be competitive and Possibly win in this horrible field.

To be honest I can hardly type because I am laughing so hard. 3 year olds against the best 3 older sprinters in last years BC in March by the way it does not matter what form they are in. he would not finish with in 20 lengths of the winner.

Its simple, Nick is losing it. Why he didn't point Forefathers to the $2,000,000 Golden Shaheen is beyond me.

you know what you guys are 100% correct on this one.... forfathers is a bad horse, and this Golden Shaheen is a super super race, i totally agree with you on this one, i was so so so wrong. The big 3 in this race are the top 3 from the breeders cup sprint, well that was another amazing race where did the top 3 betting choices run in that race ? where did henny hughes run ? too much bling ? did henny hughes even show up that day ? im am wrong though this is a powerful group, especially the americans, if im not mistaken all of them except for friendly island are coming off pretty bad performances, and in my opinion friendly island is the winnner in here, and what is that really saying he's a ny bred, who beat a 3 or 4 horses field in cali in his prep, hes a grinder type close all the time, very good horse but, is he the type who should be the headliner in a $2,000,000 race ?

Good first step, accepting the unpleasant truth.

I'm always one to try and find value... sometimes in the form of bombs. So with that in mind, I'm goin with the #11 Bounty Quest.

He's a steady knocker at this distance with a load of experience of the track.

blackthroatedwind 03-30-2007 12:45 AM

I thought Harvard Avenue was a little interesting. He has been the victim of two straight paceless races where nobody closed an inch. His second to Friendly Island was much better than it looks.

The race is nothing if not a crapshoot.
