Discreet Cat Vs. Invasor

Who you got?

I will be pulling for Discreet myself.

ArlJim78 03-23-2007 10:33 PM

blackthroatedwind 03-23-2007 10:36 PM

If Discreet Cat winning brings DrugS back I will root for him.

You know he hasn't won on the turf outside of Cali either, has he?

brianwspencer 03-23-2007 10:55 PM

Invasor all the way.

Well he has no prep but I don't think it will matter. 10 panels is a problem, but he drilled Invasor last year. Its his home track. GO DC

randallscott35 03-23-2007 11:06 PM

Jara up in this race? Didn't even check.

he is sick, but for me the distance is the thing.

DC- has never went 10, generally sticking with sprints.

Invasor looks like he is never tired and actually relishes the extra distance.

Well my opinion is based more on wild love for Invasor than it is on hating Discreet Cat.

I just think he's up against it, having never gone this far -- having to come off a big break. I also think that the stretch at NAS will help Invasor out because he's just a grinding type. I don't doubt that heading into the long stretch, Discreet Cat will be in front of Invasor, but I get the feeling that Invasor will have his number. If Discreet Cat doesn't just keep going and going, Invasor's going to take measure of him around the eighth pole and truck on home.

Of course, Premium Tap is a huge wildcard in here -- he seems to just keep getting better this past year, and I'd envision even him finishing in front of the Cat.

I think Discreet Cat is a spectacular individual to watch, but there are more questions than answers for me in this one. The two good things about him in this race are that 1.) He is obviously very fast, just on pure raw talent, and 2.) He showed the he at least liked the track last year, and Invasor ran the worst race of his life.

So if the track was the reason Invasor ran poorly last time, I could see it happening again. It's hard to know from having only one run over the surface. So, while DC has some intangibles in his favor, I would just side with my boy Invasor in this one until DC proves me wrong.

randallscott35 03-23-2007 11:12 PM

My only worry about DC is soundness issues. He's really handled with kid gloves. Reminds me of Ghostzapper campaigns. I hope he's a 100% and has no excuses....B/c Invasor isn't running him down if he is.

whodey17 03-23-2007 11:51 PM

Who knows who wins. Both are good horses. I will go with Premium Tap. But I will take all in the pick 3.

pgardn 03-24-2007 12:15 AM

Invasor has improved immensely. I have not seen enough of Discreet Cat to say for sure. Should be very interesting though. We got some talent and some of the other shippers could explode on you. Wild stuff.

Invasor has proven so much over the last year or so.

Charismatic1 03-24-2007 01:19 AM

If Discreet Cat wins the DWC off no prep and at a distance he has never traveled against the American HOY and Classic winner who has had a perfect prep and appears to be training very well...then he is a true equine god who will command penance and sacrifices before his stall. This isn't even considering Premium Tap and Storm Mayor, who I believe to be very formidable. Considering Invasor and the others, I'm pretty sure my faith is safe and that I'll be going to Mass the next day.

King Glorious 03-24-2007 01:33 AM

I'm going with Discreet Cat pretty easily.

he's going to win , discreet cat- premium tap exacta

brockguy 03-24-2007 08:17 AM

I really think DCat can win here even if he doesnt truly stay 10f. His class will pull him through.. Invasor and Premium Tap will relish the trip but I can't see the field going mad fast. Kandidate will prob try to lead and if he's the lone speed, it'll play into DCat's hands as he can use his kick and get lengths into his rivals.. As a 3yo giving weight and a beating to older horses is insane to me and from his UAE Derby last year over 9, he did that with ridiculous ease, one couldnt say he was stopping there....

POINTGIVEN1985 03-24-2007 08:20 AM

i think if he's healthy, and that is a big if, he wins this race for fun.... i think his very best is alot better then anything else in this race

I wouldnt say that.. he's a pound or two at better than Invasor at most..

When Invasor was declared World Champ, there were a fair few people who thought that it should have gone to DCat but, because he didnt run in any championship event was denied the honour..

Sightseek 03-24-2007 08:50 AM

Invasor!

zippyneedsawin 03-24-2007 09:59 AM

Invasor is my pick here.

PPerfectfan 03-24-2007 12:21 PM

Premium Tap all the way!!!!!!!! in spite of Kent D. with Invasor 2nd.

alysheba4 03-24-2007 12:27 PM

God I hope you are right.

Pedigree Ann 03-24-2007 12:55 PM

Even with his mum, one's mind boggles at the idea that a Forestry will win a first class 10f race. He would have to be tons the best.

Moms matter.

All the gaga over Discreet Cat's chances reminds me of no-can-lose Bernardini before the BC Classic.

I like Invasor's chances. He's faced and beaten better horses, has a race, and likes the distance.

Yep, he's going to crush the hearts of the D'Cat's, just like he crushed the dreams of the Bernardinians.

Huh, Discreet Cat has faced older horses and won. And beat Invasor which no other horse can say they they've done.....He isn't remotely comparable to Bernie....Judging from the thread, a heck of a lot more peolple like Invasor than DC in this spot.

looking through this thread, seems there are the same number of Invasor supporters as there are DCats.. and a lot of Premium Tap fans!!
