Kentucky Fans Chase Tubby to Minnesota

Film at 11!

timmgirvan 03-22-2007 03:02 PM

Tubby took the hint.....the board also gave him the 1.5mil he was due to receive in April. Less pressure....more time to take a decent program to the next level.

ddthetide 03-22-2007 03:59 PM

UK fans that wanted tubby out are crazy! he needed some help recruiting but tubby is a Good Coach! who do they think they will get better?
tommy amaker would do a nice job at UK.

Alford is leaving iowa and taking the new mexico job. iowa ran him out too.

Pointg5 03-22-2007 04:31 PM

Good for him, class act.

College Basketball is totally different now, those dumb hillbilly racists don't realize you don't go to the Final Four every year.

I predict an Alabama scenario, many will pass, because of the insane fans. Guess what UK fans? Billy Donovan don't want to come there and why should he.

Bearcats fans shouldn't talk smack about any school.

Yeah most schools would be happy with a coach like Tubby. He won't get you to the final four, but you'll make the sweet sixteen every few years.

Bearcat fans aren't delusional like UK fans are, the guy on local sports radio just made the best suggestion for a new UK Coach, cardboard cutout of Adolph Rupp, because the UK fans can't get past him not coaching.

They already were going to be an average team next year, probably a repeat of this year, but now they aren't going to the Tournament at all...

Big deal about next year. Morris was leaving anyways and Crawford is flunking out.

I went to the Florida and LSU games this year and it was clear Tubby had lost control of the team. He was overpaid and won a championship with Pitino's players. How many more years did he need to get to the final four at 2.5 mil a year? 20 more?

Pointg5 03-22-2007 04:59 PM

He also made the same comment about Alabama, cut out of Bear Bryant, because the insane Alabama fans can't get past him not coaching. Oh well, at least they gave Nick Saban a nice retirement package, sit back, not work real hard and be an analyst in 3-4 years, not to bad, too bad the Alabama Fans can't see that.

He should get credit for winning with Pitino's Players, that's harder to do with your own players.

You don't realize how much College Basketball has changed, it's like the NFL, parity everywhere, there's not much that seperates teams anymore and you don't go to the Final Four every year, he went to 2 Elite Eights in the last 5 years, that's not too bad.

UK has money out the a$$ and so does Bama. Why should they settle for "not too bad?" That mentality is for losers. They don't have all of those championships by being satisfied with also rans.

Pointg5 03-22-2007 05:06 PM

You are probably right, those two crooked programs can probably pay the players plenty.

I don't recall them being on probation like UK was.

Yeah because not getting caught means you're playing by the rules. How are the new rides in Fantasyland?

The budding campaign to make Chris Lowery the next coach of UK.... talk about a snag...he would whip the laziness out of Kentucky. God, I've never seen as lazy a Wildcat roster as the one this year. Just absolutely lazy. The seniors I mean.

She-Ray Thomas and Boobie Perry?

jman5581 03-22-2007 05:43 PM

the whole slew of them....thomas, perry, morris

What really hurt Tubby was overlooking Lofton and taking Crawford and Bradley over him. Crawford and Bradley are horrible.

Bradley looks like beetlejuice

I"ll make you this bet, Alabama will play for a national championship before the bearcats do...

Storm Cadet 03-22-2007 09:15 PM

Early picks for new UK Coach:

1. Jay Wright-Villanova...can keep all his Wildcat gear from one school to another! Done all he can do in Phila, maybe next 76'ers coach though.

2. Tim Crean-Marquette-excellent young coach.

3. Thad Motta- Ohio St-loses great players at OSU. Time to move up.

4. Sean Ford-UMASS who played at UK-will get interview

5. Billy Donovan-UFLA-only if he gets CajunGator's approval to leave:eek:

Cannon Shell 03-22-2007 09:23 PM

Tubby was a weak recruiter and average game coach. KY has not been a major force recently because they haven't had any elite players.

jman5581 03-22-2007 10:09 PM

I would say good game coach, average recruiter.

What the hell, I say BRING BACK BURNADETTE!!!! hahaahahhahaahahahaha

Coach Pants 03-22-2007 10:26 PM

Florida probably made a huge mistake not giving Donovan an extension last year.

You must be joking. Going from Ohio State to Kentucky in BASKETBALL is a major step up. Boise State is better than Alabama in football. I doubt anyone would argue Boise is the better job. Louisville is much better than Florida State. Which of those jobs do you think more top coaches would line up for? I don't want to demean Ohio State because they have a good program that is on the rise, but the Ohio State vs. Kentucky basketball jobs aren't close to being on the same level in my opinion. In no particular order: Level 1: Kentucky, UCLA, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina- Level 2- Indiana, Louisville, Syracuse, UCONN. I may have left a few out but you get the idea. These are all top of the line jobs although not every team listed is currently a top team. "But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

Passing on Corey Brewer b/c he "was too skinny" hurts; same goes for Derrick Byars, SEC player of the year. Not great at evaluating talent, although Lofton probably wouldnt be who is had he come to UK.

You gotta read Pat Forde's article on espn...

I honestly believe Pitino could walk right through this door... or Donovan will beat him to it. I think, deep down, Pitino would rather be at UK...this is his chance to go back home...the fans will forgive him after a national championship...

I agree, and I think had Louisville not gone on that winning streak (starting with the upsets of Pitt and Marquette) and made the tournament with a good run, he'd be coming to UK. It's the longest of shots, but it wouldnt surprise me.

The best coach that could completely turn this program around is Billy Gillispie. And I hope to God Kentucky snubs their nose at him because Kentucky would immediately become a National powerhouse again(and I really dont want that)

ATM better pay Gillispie the bucks or they will have a losing basketball program in addition to football.

Word is that we're looking at him pretty hard, actually was the first name that I heard come up. There are concerns about him (I think he's a great coach and cheered my ass of for him, AC, and the rest of the Aggies) namely that he's not a proven coach and people question if he's a good recruiter. Seems the Aggies this year were led by juniors and seniors, he didnt recruit them correct? I think he's a really good coach and would flourish at UK and he'd be able to recruit just fine, but I dont know if AD and Boosters agree.

In Football, the Bearcats will never play for a National Championship, that I know, because I am a realist.
