Santa Anita - Friday 3/16

Pretty good racing today....some good horses and some great wagering races. Chalky early 4 but late 4 looks very juicy. Any early thoughts?

colt 45ss 03-16-2007 09:02 AM

super image could surprise in the 7th
always love solis going long on the turf
that said pletcher is so hot he could run and prolly win

SCUDSBROTHER 03-16-2007 12:07 PM

Looks difficult to deny O
NEIL,or Pletcher in the 7th,and Flores/Mitchell in the last.3 and 4(in the last) try hard, but not sure it will be enough.Don't like the 10(in the last) trying to stay 2 turns.Probably won't wager a penny on a Portillo either.

SA Feature

Like Silent Soul #1A in the feature along with Pletcher's horse.. Silent Soul consistently running thorograph 8s and 9s and did run on the grass four starts ago and recorded a nice fig...

Pletcher with the two 10s looks like he could move forward, especially with what Todd's horses have been doing lately....

Don't like O'Neil as much....

PSH - I like Silent Soul alot as well, with Vauquelin looking very appealing as well......check out those flashy works in prep for this! Quick question, what type of TG figs did the #8 Deadshot Keen run prior to coming stateside?

Scuds....I got one I love in the last.....put this one with the #9 to cash! Take a quess.......

Deadshot was fairly slow running 15s before running an 11 in the last race before coming to the states with an 11 1/2 in his last SA race...

track question

I'm looking at the SA webcam right now and I see that the whole track has been watered except for the 4,5 and 6 lanes....???....Scuds, can this help make a guy any money on the first couple of races? What are they doing?

Maybe the water truck is still on its way around...don't see it though.

Usually you will see a nice TG # improvement once stateside, and this guy ran in some decent races back in Europe. Would need to improve here obviously, but might make the quad.

This came up very tough for a $75k Friday stakes.....some of these I bet are surprised. No way I am playing pletchers horse coming in off a Maiden win against this bunch.

Rootdog1 03-16-2007 02:05 PM

Scuds must be napping right now.

Rootdog1 03-16-2007 02:16 PM

Leaving early today, so posting all my plays.......love the late pk4 today

I don't know which one he'd prep in, nothing out there. It appears he's pointing toward the Apr. 7th Grade II Arcadia. For everything but a purse, this is practically a Grade III field. Albeit a short field. I'm not worried about the race...I just wouldn't play the early picks and fire bigger on the late pick 4! :D

I think the only one getting paid in the first 3 races is David Flores...

Rootdog1 03-16-2007 02:45 PM

I feel a Go-Go Double.......

If anything, they are making it more fair.Hard to imagine it being more speed-favoring.I will start to play in the 5th,or 6th race.Let Frankel have his unfortunate waste of a race. Then we will get to the f'n competitive races.

You love the 5 in the last??

Rootdog1 03-16-2007 03:16 PM

Looking at the will pays before race #2 goes off.....a 4 with 3 double is paying $2.......great investment!!

This is setting up for a payout...worth taking a cheap risk in the double pool trying to beat one of these next two heavy favs.

Rootdog1 03-16-2007 03:18 PM

Yes, add blinks drops weight and bred on the bottom for distance....even running style......its all going to add up today....may not win but using with the fav....

jman5581 03-16-2007 03:28 PM

I think the 1, B Thunder, is the biggest threat to the 4. Could slow it down and get away with it. That's who I'd play...

Did keep trying(after tired) in the race before last.

Coach Pants 03-16-2007 04:01 PM

The stewards should make Flores wear a chicken costume for this race and a few chickens should be in the winners circle to get their picture taken with the winning connections.

It's exhibition day at SA.

I can't believe it.A $46/1 win parlay pays $179/1 in the P3. That is the final story on multi-bets.If you can't figure out that it is the way to go,then you are dumb as a rock.Would have paid almost twice more for that 3.Could not eek out that last bit.

SCUDSBROTHER 03-16-2007 08:13 PM

Well,I don't bet much when I am cold, and have been a little cold the last week ,or so.Felt close to hitting yesterday, but lipped out the putt.Anyways, only was comfortable with one horse today(chalk in 7th.)Liked the 3 fav betting choices in the last.WTF do ya do with those horses to make $$$?? Here is how it went down.To say I didn't trust anybody in the 6th would be an understatement(used everybody except the KNAPP.)

5TH RACE $1.00 P3 (PWHL) 8, 10 / 2, 7, 8, 9, 13 / 10.... $10.00

6TH RACE $2.00 DB (PWHL) 4, 5, 6, 11 / 10.................. $8.00

6TH RACE $1.00 P3 (PWHL) 1 / 10 / 3, 4, 9 ....$3.00 (PAID $179.90)

This is pretty typical of how I bet.How would you characterize it? PSSY STYLE? SURVIVALIST? LOL.....Nothing particularly difficult to do here, but if somebody wants to check what I bet, then there is a highly beloved member here who can check it .Not a big deal.

Coach Pants 03-16-2007 08:26 PM

No need for that, scuds. I'm thinking about not posting my plays until after the fact. Every wager I posted today lost and 4 out of 7 I didn't post won. It's frustrating posting my picks and the craziest **** happens in the race (6th race today...unfrickinbelievable how I lost that one).

I still can't believe the late 3 paid that much. Good job.

I think what happened is that the general public didn't think that Mysterious Cat would be able to get up at the distance of 5 1/2 f(I also didn't think he would.)Some inside money went in the win pool.Without that money,it would have paid $19-$25 to win.Actually, the reason I used Mysterious Cat in the p3(instead of just a double) was because the double seemed to pay poorly(duh..........ding ding ding.)

I guess I just ignored the 1a. Way to go me...went 10,1,5. Should've picked up on it 4 races back...live and learn.
