hemingway's key & bernardini
wow after hemingway's key truly brilliant performance today i have to take back all of the disparaging things i said about bernardini and his competition last summer.
considering that bernardini had to tangle with that superstar multiple times, he really must be the greatest horse in the history of the universe. |
what is the point of this post ? did you bet hk, and now your upset and had to post something ? if bernardini were still in training he'd easily be one of the top 3 horses in the world, i dont even consider hk a good horse

 You're acting like Hemingway's Key ever got within a pole of Bernardini.

I'm finding it harder and harder to believe that you had a dime on Invasor in the Breeders' Cup. If you really made such a killing off being "right" about Bernardini, why would you feel the need to make a thread like this four months after the horse retires, when no one is even discussing him? It sounds like you feel a hell of a lot more bitter than you do vindicated. |

as for being bitter....you are right about that. i really didn't like the way people who were legitimately questioning this horse last year were treated, so i take every reasonable opportunity to question this horse. given that hemingway's key was in the $ in two of bern's biggest victories, i thought his dismal performance today reinforced the things i was saying last year about bern's competition. |

2) do i need a pat on the back for picking invasor? no. ateamstupid is the one that brought up me picking invasor. 3) your argument that this stuff happened 4 or 5 moths ago and is therefore not important is even more absurd than your other points. don't we talk about/debate horses that raced 5 or 10 or 35 years ago on this board? do you respond to all of those posts with "Why bring this up now?" if you have any other points that you would like me to destroy with logic, please feel free to continue posting them on this thread. |

the bernmafia just really rubbed me the wrong way last year. i guess in part because i am huge fan of secretariat and barbaro. i still remember when bern won the jim dandy last year one of them started a thread called "barbaro who?" and then they started talking about how he was better than secretariat. frankly stuff like that (and there was a lot of it) just pissed me off, and so, i take every opportunity to rip the horse. |

as for bringing it up after hk's last race....i would have if i had known he had raced! this is the first time i heard his name this year. |
can you say..praise me.............next thing ill see typed is how the salukis will beat gorgetown...argggggggggg:confused:

avance,
Yes Bernardini's competition last year was quite poor. Yes he was extremely overhyped. The problem is, that would be true if HK won today, or finished last today, or scratched today, or covered a mare today, or made sweet stallion-on-stallion love with War Emblem today. What he did today has nothing really to do with anything that happened last year. You said you want to take "every reasonable opportunity to rip this horse." Fine, but this wasn't one of them. |

Geez, let it go advance, Bernardini was a fine horse, not one of the greats, but this is a little silly...

To me the Bernardini bashing is something like the Mineshaft bashing of 2003. Maybe people who do this resent horses that are bred to the purple, especially sons of A.P. Indy. It is just a thought, but I remember someone at another forum who frequently took cheap shots at A.P. Indy.
