Worst Jockey the last year
Jorge Chavez, at monmouth last summer, we called him Rip Van Winkle, because it literally looked like he was falling asleep when he got on the horse in the paddock.

Some of the Illinois folks might be able to elaborate, but I think Uriel Lopez might be the worst rider in the history of the game. I've never seen a guy go unnecessarily wide that often. That's why he's usually about 2 for 76 after a couple of weeks.
Also, I think it was 1999, but Inosencio Diego was still a bug and he went 0 for Saratoga with something like 90 mounts I think. I'm not saying he was one of the worst jockeys ever, that was just one of the worst meets ever. It definitely deserves mentioning in a topic based on futility. NT |

Tony Farina. We at my other board figured he must have pictures of Biancone with an owner's wife or something of that sort. Otherwise there was no way to explain why he kept putting this guy up on good horses.

Its the kiss of death for me if I like the horse and then I see Lopez has the mount? I want to immediately toss him but I know there does exist the possibility that one of these days a horse will drag him to the line first despite his best efforts. |

The worst by far has to be Martin Escobar, he is god awful...after him has to be Mike Smith.
|
Filiberto Leon-much better cook
Taylor Hole-barred for life |
I have never seen a jockey put other riders in as much danger as Miss Chantal Sutherland....Wow, shes ceases to amaze me with some of the rides that she gives..If i notice it, how dont these trainers, that opt to put her on their charges...

Don't think there is enough bandwidth here to fit my list. Since I play Tampa every day, I can start there with my bottom five in no particular order:
Liz Cedeno Craig Faine Walter Llagas Roger Moore Tom Foley I could go on and on... Any of those five could wear the crown of worst ever. |

I hate Joe Bravo, can't win with him or against..Wish he'd retire and join Pat waitallDay.... |

Yeah, but she's a great looker, should go into modeling full time..... |
Eddie Arcaro, rode 250 losers before finally winning a race, however, he recovered pretty good winning 4778 more after that

The worst jockey ever is....................1982 Eclipse Award Winning Apprentice Jockey Alberto Delgado, but I am biased. He screwed us once when he was our jockey at a time much later in his life. I think he averages about 100 mounts a year. I think he was struggling to pay his rent. He shouldn't be screwing anyone he works for....PERIOD. That midget, who by the way is bigger than the trainer we had at the time, rode the first two races at Laurel then left before our race.
He only informed the trainer in the Paddock before the first race. The trainer was so pissed he didn't have words. Apparently he had committed to another evening mount at Penn National???? He was our regular exercise jockey in MD and I had personally spoken to him every morning about the upcoming race. He failed to mention the Penn thing on any of the mornings he spoke to me or the trainer. So while the second is being run the trainer informed us of the jockey's new priorities. The trainer said to "give him an ear full" when he got off his mount after the second. My partners and I gave it to him from the moment he got off the horse, until he was in the jocks room. Needless to say, he neither exercised our horses or rode them ever again. Therefore, I have sour grapes and he is the worst jockey of all time. |
