Sorry, but I don't care for a horse with only 2 starts in his 3 year old year before the derby. I think that's a lot asking.

Who is going in the Hutcheson?

Is Nobiz still on track for the FOY? And I think Stormello was thinking FOY also. A place for a possible change for Stormello to avoid Nobiz, or is the extra $200,000 to enticing for a change in a prep?

The great and wonderous Scat Daddy is pointed to the FOY as well. :p

He's got a " mystery injury " written all over him.

Next start? Jerome at Belmont in September.

I wouldn't be surprised, although I hope that's not the case.

Honestly, what do you think the chances are he's still around by then?

Try a West Coast campaign starting with the Malibu.

Truthfully, he has really done enough....

pmayjr 02-23-2007 11:09 PM

First off the shelf I'd avoid Any Given Saturday...

But then again there's prolly a freak in each direction lol

Nafzger and Wilkes are actually looking into the Rushaway at TP and then the Bluegrass at KEE. These are 2 unbelieveable horsemen who know exactly what they need to do to get this horse to peak May 5th and not a day sooner. This horse has much more foundation than people are giving him credit for.

Maybe that's all true. But I can't see why they're worrying about meeting AGS in the Tampa race. At some point he's going to need to do some hard running. He certainly won't benefit from a soft Rushaway field, will he? That leaves just the BG as a real prep. Also, if memory serves, the Turfway stakes -- both the Rushaway and Lane's End -- often come up with full fields and off tracks, neither would be a good thing for an easy return race for SS>

He'll go into the Rushaway off a 4.5 month layoff. Then he's going to win the Derby in his 3rd start over 5-6 weeks?

Maybe they're right. Maybe the horse is behind schedule. Maybe they're a little too confident. I'd bet on one of the latter two.

STS...I can see your point. I just know them personally and know this horse is considered to be very, very special by them, which is saying alot because they don't ever overhype anything. Also, I guess their thinking is that now that the TP race is on the rubber it will at least be safe.

I'm confused....do you mean to suggest that racing on surfaces other than polytrack is unsafe?

bongster420 02-24-2007 10:30 AM

Heck no...I was just responding to the earlier post about the Rushaway usually coming up an "off" track...safe meaning safe from possibility of muddy or off track.

Gotcha...thanks.

I've got reason to believe, Street Sense will be running in the Tampa Bay Derby (on March 17). Yesterday, he informed Mr. Holthus that there was a possibility that he can't take the mount on Officer Rocket in the Rebel due to unforseen obligations as to when Street Sense's next race will be. Well, today he confirmed to Mr Holthus that he would indeed need to find a new mount. With this plan of action taking place so soon since his first statement yesterday, this leads me to believe Street Sense will run on the 17th. Borel flies out Tues to work him in FL.

bongster420 02-25-2007 04:47 PM

i am hearing the same thing smarty...however, we certainly know they will most likely not be 100% committed to either race for a few more days (after Calvin works him Tues. at PM). also, i am very excited about people getting off the bandwagon on this horse, because I KNOW he will not win either of his preps---because Nafzger/Wilkes will be building him to May 5th, same as the plan to the BC Juv. This just means better odds for the believers after we sing "My Old Kentucky Home"!!!!!!!

NoBiz is going to the Wood, right? He's the east coast wise guy horse. Probably another Bellamy Road.

This years crop is horrendous...

PSH 02-25-2007 04:59 PM

That's Carl's MO isn't it

Carl did it with Unbridled for the Ky Derby and BC Classic and now can repeat with Street Sense. He is certainly good at pointing a horse to a race and building him up for it....

Too early to say....It sure isn't going to be as good as last year's group which I think was quite good.
