Mubtaahij to enter Derby with 1st or 2nd place finish in UAE Derby.

http://live.drf.com/nuggets/11943

Trainer Mike de Kock told me this morning that MUBTAAHIJ was likely to be sent to the Kentucky Derby if he finishes first or second in the UAE Derby on Saturday night.

A win would give Mubtaahij 100 points, easily enough to make the field if, as expected, the connections of more than 20 horses want in. Second-place Saturday is worth 40 points, which also probably would be enough to make the field.

Racing against Dubai-based 3-year-olds, de Kock isn't entirely sure what he has in Mubtaahij, but the colt has excelled since being switched to dirt this winter, and unlike many American 3-year-olds, the Derby's mile-and-a-quarter would not be an impediment.

"The farther the better with this horse, I think," de Kock said.

Which would only be further proof of the unimportance of earnings records.

its something... Cigar held the record for like 11 or 12 years. It makes winning the Dubai World Cup a premier race to win when it comes to career earnings and a hell of a notch on the belt.

ps look out for Lea

main sequence Sheema Classic

Looking at the pp's of Main Sequence, Lasik was added in his US races. Will its witdrawl lessen his performance ? has Motion addressed it ?

Kasept 03-26-2015 07:30 AM

Motion has said he's not concerned about Main Sequence coming off Lasix for the race.

I didn't hear the show this morning but will later , it sounds like Mr.Z, note that Desormo gets off War Story and perhaps he believes he has a better chance on Mr.Z to beat Int'l Star. Looking at the charts for the Southwest and Risen Star, Im not so sure about that decision but as always, we will see ;).......

Fun tour for Cup value on world totes by @AndrewNJHawkins..

Punters across the globe converge to bet on the Dubai World Cup - with mixed results
Andrew Hawkins

http://www.scmp.com/sport/racing/art...-mixed-results

It is a chance to see racing’s globalisation in action. Perhaps the best example is a horse like Dubai Turf contender Euro Charline: by an Irish-bred French Group One-winning sire, she’s owned by America’s Team Valor, trained by Marco Botti – English-based but a member of an Italian training dynasty – and will be ridden by Hong Kong-based Brazilian jockey Joao Moreira.

MUBTAAHIJ wow!!!

hes the horse thats gonna screw with my derby bets... how do you quantify how good he is... Did he just smoke horses that are a bunch of nobodies?

He has won 5 of his last 6 on dirt by open lengths. Still trying to figure out if he can handle the dirt

Dubai is a cesspool trying to buy respect and legitimacy. I hate that any u.s. horses go there.

Yeah Sherman didnt like that move either. Somewhat of a head scratchier. Bring him back home and give him a little break... Ran a really good race yesterday considering his trip...

He was uncovered throughout, but haven't we been told he likes being kept outside of horses in the clear, and not taking dirt in his face, like the PA. Derby?

Which one is it?

Exactly. If that is his preferred trip as they say, then he's gonna have to be a super horse to win when he goes up against real competition. That wide and clear trip will get him absolutely annihilated at Royal Ascot.

Indian Charlie 03-29-2015 09:45 AM

Maybe he can run in a wheelchair race.

I'm all for being sporting and thought they made the right choice going to Dubai, but going to Ascot is dumb.

He has no real shot in any race they are pointing him to.

He loves the attention and hospitality. Its his horse and he can do as he please. We sometimes complain that owners refuse to ship their horses and also complain if they ship them too much.
