Hooray!

Stupid OTB channel only showed the last three furlongs. Hope NTRA has it up soon so I can see the whole thing...

She looked better than ever today. I wasn't overly impressed with her New York race but the grass may have been a little soft for her that day. I don't think she ran her best that day. She definitely ran her best today.

That's my girl!!!!!! Say what you doubters want. Gorella will give ANYONE a run for their money in whatever Breeder's Cup race they put her in. This girl has a kick in her. :)

Man I hope O. Board returns. We will have a matchup.

Oh would that be a match!

She was a beast today.Reminds me of my btch this morning. She finished her food, and suddenly the girl warrior blasts the smaller male out of the way,and after a loud(but short) skirmish, she finishes his food off.

Wow as right. As much trouble as Film Maker got in, clearly the best horse won this race and the 2nd best horse finished 2nd. Impressive, effortless performance by the winner. Another race I was very wrong about.

Me too. I had a positive day yeasterday overall. I was all over races 2 through 6, and was having one of those days where it seems like I can't lose. Then when we hit the G1s I started giving some of it back. We were with my brother and his girlfriend who don't know a lot about reading PPs, and when they asked me about Gorella' late kick before the race, I said "she won't have it today going 9.5 furlongs." Pretty brilliant huh?
She ran by some very talented fillies like they were $20,000 claimers.

no it wouldnt. Ouija Board would blow that horse back to France. Look at the field Ouija board beat at Ascot and the fields she has faced against what Gorella beat yesterday. Totally different class of horse.

I hope this does materialize so i can pay for my trip to louisville.

Yes it would be a great match in that it would be exciting. Yes Ouija Board is much more accomplished and would be the favorite, no doubt in my mind.

However there is an unknown quantity with Gorella, the X factor. The unknown factor is how good is she? We don't even know yet. She gets more impressive with every race. She seems to be just now coming into her own.

Btch says she ain't fat(she is thick.)Most jealous animal I have ever seen.Hopefully the common traits(with wife)end here.Surely your wife doesn't scream (in competitive panic) when she is getting beat to the top of the stairs.

Ouija Board is my favorite horse, but after watching that race yesterday, I would hardly dismiss Gorella as in a "different class". Destroying that field with a 6-wide run put Gorella in the elite filly group, IMO. Of course Ouija Board has accomplished much more in her career, but in a single race I would never discount Gorella after watching her yesterday.

Oh, I hope for a match-up!!!!

I would like to see that match up to, would get descent odds

GenuineRisk 08-14-2006 10:02 PM

Hooray; I finally got to watch the entire race on ntra.com. Wow.

Though my favorite part was after she won-- watching Leparoux stroke her neck while she galloped out. I'm a sucker for those moments. Nice of ntra to leave that on the video before ending it.

GPK 08-15-2006 03:56 AM

the little gal reminds me of Megahertz quite a bit. Love those little horses that run with a big heart.
Just watched the replay a few more times and even though she had a perfect pace to run at, it was still impressive seeing that punch down the lane, especially when all the Lepareux did was shake her a couple times. She clearly had no problem getting 1 3/16.....can she get 1 1/4? Would also like to see how she performs with a less than perfect pace setup for her.

Slewbopper 08-15-2006 07:00 AM

Gorella v. Ouija Board......

Is the F&M Turf 1 1/4 or 1 3/8 this year? It was 1 3/8 the last time they ran at Churchill. OB won at 1 3/8 at Lone Star two years ago. Gorella would have to run 3/16 farther than she has ever gone before. I have no doubt she can do it. I like the fact that Gorella is now American based and has raced over the Churchill surface against top notch males, but OB seems to have overcome whatever ailments she had last season and is now a monster....again. Tough call. I think I might go with the mare over the filly should they meet.

The Mile and the F&M Turf both have $2 mil purses this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gorella opt for the Mile, a race she could have won last year with a better trip.
