I'm home

I just got home and am relaxing in my own bed. In all honesty, I feel FANTASTIC and all I have in my system is 2 vicidon, but those are just like asprin to me at this point. The only bit of pain I have is where there performed the actual surgery and where the incision is, but even that is feeling better than yesterday. I was up and walking a bit last night and this morning as well. I am surprisingly moving very well.

My surgeon said the procedure went very well. He went in, removed the parts of the L4-L5 disk that had broken apart and were surrounding both sides of my spine and leaning up against a nerve on my spine. That was what was causing all the pain in my legs. I noticed IMMEDIATE relief in my legs when I awoke from the surgery yesterday. This is the first time in 18 months that I have been able to experience a day without any pain in my legs.

I have to take it very easy for the next 4 weeks. The only thing I can really do is get up and walk around, increasing the amount everyday. I can't bend, shift or lift anything heavier than a carton of milk. I can't ride in a car for a month either (NO OTB?!?!?! :( :( ) I guess that just means I will have to be on Derby Trail all day, everyday for the next 4 weeks...lucky ya'll.

Thanks so much to everyone for ya'lls thoughts and prayers. They mean the world to me and it also means a great deal to have wonderful friends like everyone on here.

Much love,
GPK

Hooray! Kev's home! Glad you feel the relief already!

Well, home resting means lots of time to handicap.... maybe you'll post thoughts on any races you decide to look at over the month? I love to read them.

Glad to hear from you last night Kev. You sounded incredibly chipper for someone who just went through what you did. Thanks for the call!

By the way, Big Pappi sent a present your way with a 3 run walkoff HR in the bottom of the 9th against Cleveland. It was all you :)

Thank you babe and thanks for everything you have done the past couple of weeks.

We in Argentina yet??:D

Not even close. I'd say Jeter and Manny are the next 2 guys but neither has the "big hit" resume that Ortiz has had.

Glad to hear that you are home and mostly painfree. How awesome is that? I hope that nurse of yours is taking excellent care of you. Just remember, only allowed to walk. No lifting, bending, etc... for four weeks. Be a good boy!
