It's not hilarious when little children are asked science questions, they eagerly raise their hands with the answers they learned in school, seen on the Discovery Channel, etc - and they are told they are wrong.

Of course, opinion, fact, wild-azzed guess, "what I feel strongly" - it all has the same weight in the empirical world, to some.

what gets me most would be the people who say there's no such thing as evolution-i then mention eohippus. we'd never have jocks making weight had horses remained in their orirginal form. :D

Yes they'd be able to make weight cause we were like 18 inches tall back then.

LOL - the explaination, OBVIOUSLY, has to be that all things ever found fossilized were here all at once, at the same time, all placed here by God by the end of the 6th day - but some of it has died out. Carbon dating = Just "a theory"

I vote for far more Republicans than Democrats but I am not a member of the party, dont donate money or time, etc. The problem here is you cant debate ideology without being categorized.

As a science teacher I have fought this battle...
its really not worth it.

Mainly because some people do not have
a grasp of what science is, and is not.

Sorry it took so long to get back. Here goes... Appoint cabinet members who have paid their taxes, send pork filled spending bills back to Congress for another try, an investigation into Fanny and Freddy is an excellent idea, drill for our own oil, get the ball rolling on nookular energy (loved it when Bush said "nookular") enforce immigration laws that are already on the books, appoint a supreme court justice who shows a knowledge of constitutional law not one who's decisions have been overturned more than 50% of the time, not get involved in running banks and auto manufacturers, make Bush tax cuts permanent, cut capital gains tax, cut inheritance tax, give Mexico more help fighting it's (our?) drug war, stop investing in the ethanol fiasco, increase military spending to spur the economy (our stuff is getting worn out from our adventures in the Mideast), just for starters. I'd go on a "date night" to Hollywood park while it's still around.

If fossil records can prove evolution why can't they prove the planet has been warming and cooling on it's own? Sometimes catastrophically. I guess it depends who is trying to prove what.

This period of warming includes setting records for being cold

The cloudy, chilly and rainy open to June here has been the talk of the town. So far this June is running more than 12 degrees cooler than last year, and the clouds, rain and chilly lake winds have been persistent. The average temperature at O'Hare International Airport through Friday has been only 59.5 degrees: nearly 7 degrees below normal and the coldest since records there began 50 years ago. :zz: :zz:
