The sad but true part of the piece is that politics are going to continue to hamper any economic recovery. Whether it is right or wrong Obama's presidency is going to be judged by how he muddles through this economic mess while holding party lines and keeping his far left base and allies like labor unions and trial lawyers happy. If he can accomplish this he really is the messiah.

Thats a pretty blanket generalization isnt it?

gales0678 11-13-2008 02:57 PM

there is a reason why the big 3 , or just the big 2 now are failing , why pump gov't money into an industry where we have lost our competitive advantage??

i don't think that's true.

i drive a foreign car but i don't want the autos bailed out- they made their bed, now sleep in it. enough of the bailouts due to poor decisionmaking.

Mortimer 11-13-2008 03:01 PM

Let them fail.

Let nature run its course.....it would be the best thing believe it or not.

Predator style my friend, predator style

I was told by an unreliable source that the big 3 are indirectly responsible for 10% of the workforce in the U.S.

dying industry should not get gov't aid , these co's have cost structures that are no longer vialble , why should the taxpayer spend money to bail out an industry that is going to fail

Easy Anti Lou Dobbs

Mortimer 11-13-2008 03:52 PM

How long do you think it would take for a "group" to buy the physical plant of these defunct companies and start buildling cars the right way with a work force of people that have to work the right way and not be paid like hospital employed doctors?

How long did they expect people to buy American while taking the hit for the auto companies incompetence at the same time?

Coach Pants 11-13-2008 04:09 PM

How long until the collapse of the United States?

Not long.

Mortimer 11-13-2008 04:11 PM

Ah don't thank so.

Coach Pants 11-13-2008 04:13 PM

We've got to switch to Natural Gas and force the big 3 to make cars that can run on it.

We can't continue wasting trillions of dollars trying to take oil from nomads. It's not working.

Mortimer 11-13-2008 04:15 PM

Well I think not.

That'd be a bad ah-dee-er.

But soon all the evil doers will be recognized and things will begin to change...and for the right reasons.

How long it lasts...I don't know.
