I posted the last two before reviewing the entire thread. I like him because I would like to see a Japanese horse do well over here, but it won't surprise me either to see another Godolphin Blue dirt runner finish up the track. His form, although gaudy with Group wins, isn't overly impressive when considering our top older set over a flat mile. If he wins, I'll be impressed. The odds on him won't be worth the type of field he will likely be competing against. It is possible that he could repeat his Dubai effort here and still not win. |

It's only been since 2004..... give him some time.:p He returned home this week from Dubai..... hopefully he'll race again and not be retired. Not yet..... * * * As an aside, here's an excerpt from a UAE press release..... Godolphin’s Utopia aimed at Metropolitan Handicap May 10, 2007 Utopia, winner of the 2006 Godolphin Mile (Gr.2) and the recent Westchester Handicap (Gr.3) for Godolphin, will be aimed at the 114th running of the prestigious one-mile Metropolitan Handicap (Gr.1) at Belmont Park on May 28. Godolphin assistant trainer Rick Mettee confirmed on Wednesday that the seven-year-old son of Forty Niner, who could be a prized addition to the Darley America stallion roster at the conclusion of his racing career, will try the Met Mile, known as a race that has yielded significant sires. “It’s going to be a tough spot, but he’s a seven-year-old and we’d really like to try to win a Grade 1 with him in this country,” Mettee said. “I wish I had a little more time with him, but he’s done well since the Westchester (on May 2) and there’s only one Met Mile.” |

I like Utopia alot but he form gets very patchy when he runs a few races in quick succession.. He needs them spread out, I believe to be at his best, but I suppose Godolphin will be trying to get a G1 in to him and it may be easier here than one of the summer races with Invasor...

in other news, what brings you back to posting on message boards dude? man, i wish pointgiven1985 was still here for you to enjoy! you'd have had a field day with him :( by the way, duns and i are planning on hooking up with drugS for a week at the spa. if you have any intention of making it up there, we should try to coordinate. that will be my first, and probably only ever visit to a nyra track! it's cool to have you posting somewhere again. you are the only person i've ever met from your dirty profession that has a sense of humor. |
another by the way, tector.
i looked up the pedigree of your name, tector, and it was quite interesting. apparently, the dam of your namesake is a daughter of his own sire! i'm not sure i've ever seen a stallion bred to his own daughter before. |
