Where did I say she would win it? I don’t believe she would have.

So what was your point?

This thread has listed possible starters. I was listing a possible starter based on their comments. Not once did I offer an opinion on where I think she should run, where I’d like to see her run, or how I think she’d do.

I hope Hot Rod Charlie points for the race.

I’m not sure why he wouldn’t, though I thought I saw or heard that he won’t run in it.

Kind of odd. O'Neill is no stranger to Pimlico, the sire's only claim to fame is winning the Preakness, and the half brother had his coming out party as a 3yo on the Preakness undercard in 2018.

He's on the smallish side so maybe they think he can't handle the close spacing. If so, not sure 12 furlongs is up his alley, either.

That might make sense. I mean, he ran in the Robert Lewis then 7 weeks to the LA Derby then 6 weeks to the Kentucky Derby.

I thought they would do the same for Essential Quality but maybe they don't think he can get 1-1/2 so they will take their shot now for TC race win.

Godolphin has already shipped in the UAE Derby winner to NY for the Belmont Stakes, so they have that raced covered if Essential Quality declines any further at Pimlico.

Wasn't there also a Japanese-based colt that got buried in the UAE Derby that was supposed to run in the Preakness?

Mandaloun and Caddo River both out per Cox

Brad Cox is the worst. It’s mind boggling to not run at least one of his big 3 in the Preakness.

I realize the horse comes first but it would have been a nice story if Mandaloun were to win the Preakness for Juddmonte Farms.

They really need to bring back the $1 million bonus for the highest points earner in all 3 TC races or something.

This "we're pointing for Grade 1s later in the year" excuse is utterly ridiculous. Certainly those "later" Grade 1s they are referring to have been won in previous years by horses that competed in the Preakness.

One of those has a statue in the paddock at Saratoga...

King Glorious 05-06-2021 08:09 PM

The bonus would help but this is not surprising to me at all and it’s why I think the TC is getting easier to win than people realize. I think it’s odds-on that Concert Tour doesn’t run either.

I’ll bet you $100, with the loser giving the money to the racing charity of the other’s choice, that he runs ( giving you the best of it since you think he’s odds on not to run ).

King Glorious 05-06-2021 09:43 PM

You’re on.
